X3 has some pretty corny effects :p but the bridge is flawless and so is DP destruction. Superman Returns and POTC are way better though.

Superman Returns had amazing FX.

X3 an oscar canidate? HAHAHAHHAHHA you gotta be kidding me hell no.

no offense to anyone, but theres no way they would even consider it, don't you see the kind of movies that win oscars?! X3 sucks compared to those films. X2 didnt et nominated, what makes you think X3 will? Hellboy wasn't nominated and look at that make-up.... X3 has no chance.

Sorry to put u X-fan boys down

The pioneering de-ageing effects on Xavier/Magneto (new software was created for this, now marketed to the industry) and the bridge-moving sequence, the beautiful job done on Angel's wings and Beast's look.... all those things should at least get it a nomination.

I agree. Plus, no necesarily the movie has to be a masterpiece of storytelling to get a nomination/award for FX. Look at last years nominations, two remakes, and the winner doesn't even have any change on the original story.

I wish it got a nomination for the soundtrack. :( I love the music of that movie...

FOX are serious about this! Heres their 'for your consideration' X3 Oscar ad thats appearing in trade magazines.

Yep. All of the studios are putting out their "for your consideration" ads. Warner Bros. has them for Returns, and I'm sure there will be some for Pirates not to mention the large number of animated films released this year.

Edit: Haha. Of course, I see you are already on top of this.

its not exactly best movie- i'll forgive fox- the catagories seem fairly apt

X-Men is not even nominated for a Golden Globe

Wooo Hooo

Seeing as how the Golden Globes don't give awards in the categories an X-Men movie would be nominated in, it's not that big a deal anyway.

What kinda make-up did X3 feature? Besides some background mutants.

I don't remember anything that would be beyond average.

Beast will more than likely provide them a make-up nod. Special effects will get a nod for the de-aging effects in the beginning, as well as the Phoenix effects and the bridge. I'd like a nomination for score, but it's not likely; if Powell is nominated at all, it'll be for United 93. I didn't find the production design to be anything spectacular in this movie. Cinematography, on the other hand...Dante Spinotti deserves an Oscar for doing what he did with what Ratner provided.

! How could I forget. And Angel's wings. But dunno. Pan's Labyrinth had much better make-up.

No, X3 won't be taking home any Oscars. But I think it'll get at least one or two nominations.

I wouldn't even give the nominations...

If X3 gets nominated for best costume design I'll fcking do something I wouldn't normally do. Put aside my hatred towards the movie but the wardrobe was FCKING AWFUL. Only good one was the outfit Storm was wearing at Alkali lake. I really digged that. That could be the only thing I liked about the whole movie.

He dropped from the top ten. "Haahaa!" -Nelson Muntz

EDIT:
Worst Director of 2006 /IMDB Poll

2. Brett Ratner for X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) 14% 32
3. Uwe Boll for BloodRayne (2005) 13% 29

I think Uwe is happy now. :D
OMG I have to vote for Ratner. :p I don't get tired of reminding that he also won the "award'' of biggest Hack of Hollywood in a poll with the big names in production, studios and general crew.

Alright!

I'm so gonna rub it in the face of those haters :p (not really, just a joke)

This is good news, but sadly, just like the last two X-Men movies that I THINK were also in the preliminaries in the Academy Awards, it just won't make it. This year was just too big..
