Apocalypse Oscar Isaac IS Apocalypse - Part 1

This saying that his looks isn't from the comics is really going to bug me for the next year. No, is look isn't the classic look. But a LOT of it is pulled from may favorite look, his Victorian look from the Further Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix and Apocalypse vs Dracula. And look, no lips there either. And yet, they put in clear influences from the classic costume as well. And let's be brutally honest, his comic look won't translate very well to the big screen.

I suspect that Oscar's Apocalypse look drew a lot of influence from Jerome Opena's Archangel/heir of Apocalypse redesign from X-Force's The Dark Angel Saga.

Im not a fan of the look theyve given him.

I prefer the cosplay version attached. If they could have done a higher budget version of that, Id have been over the moon.

Lol I remember super jim writing pages of pages of how APOCALYPSE was supppsed to be like... I was like dude lol that ent happening. Now look at him. Roflz at these fans

Because they won't change the film doesn't make them pointless. It gives us something to look at and discuss, just like anything on the forum. I for one love the manips. And it is possible that someone in production will see something somewhere and make a change based on that.

They won't make a change because of some fanboys crying and dislike of the appearance. What's done is done and what they're doing is their version. Can people not like it? Of course. But don't try to say that some fan manips made by people crying because they don't like it will reach production people on the film and make them change their minds. Let's be realistic here.

****, fanboys are *****ing that Psylocke's look is too cosplay, even though it's an exact replica. They dont' know what they want.

Pretty much, though I don't know if that's the right choice visually. Making a characters design based on someone else when said person is in the film is kind of odd.

However it would be nice knowing that they are going to some of the best material. Isaac's gonna be awesome so I'm sure the mixed opinion visually won't matter much by this time next year.

Man, I totally get it. You probably were making this exact same argument back in '88 when Michael Keaton was cast as Batman. Where is the height? Where are the muscles?

And we all know how that ended up...

With an amazing and iconic performance.
Why go so far back? You need only go back three years for another big and tall villain that was played by a short actor.

They ***** about everything. There always has to be something, if there's nothing to ***** about they're not happy.

It's not comic accurate, it looks too cosplay blah blah blah.

I am not a huge fan of the design. To me, at a minimum, they needed to add those two lines on the sides of his face leading to his mouth. I also do not understand Fox's need to change everything (for example, Marvel's Thanos looks like Thanos, and he rocks! If Fox did it, well who know's what he'd look like; same with Ultron for that matter).

Apocalypse has five key elements: he's tall, he's got those lines by his mouth, he's got that collar around his neck, he's got those tubes from his arms, and he's blue with a grey face. This Apocalypse is missing at least 3 of these 5, and the coloration is up for debate - so maybe they included 1.5 of the 5 key elements!? That's rubbish!

BUT...all that said...at least he's not a cloud!! (poor Galactus)

Exactly.

Psylocke looks like cosplay.

Apocalypse doesn't look like cosplay.

Hey, maybe see what the actual movie is? No, not going to happen? Okay, continue baseless anger.

Oh please give us more of your innovative insight...

I get not liking a costume design but I think fanboys take that dislike too far. What matters is the performance, the film isn't going to suck or rock based solely on costume design. And this is coming from someone whom hates Singer's design choices 90% of the time, I'd never dismiss his films because of that though. I've seen people say that they think the movie is going to suck because they dislike Apocalypse's design and that's just silly fanboy nonsense.

He has the lines on his mouth. Look harder.

I think the Apocalypse design is growing on me more and more. Although I am looking more for the performance and his backstory. Egypt, Gods, Aliens all the stuff sounds exiting.

:pal:

People have been complaining about not getting comic-accurate costumes in the X-Men movies since day one. Now, that we're finally getting them, people are still complaining. Jubilee, Psylocke and Storm are identical to their comic book counterparts. Even if Apocalypse isn't identical, he's still pretty damn faithful.

Yeppppppp truth.

Fanboys don't use common sense. They ignore it. They're immediate thing to do is overreact, complain and cry. That's their go to.

Thumbs up to this page. Finally some reasonable posts.

In the mind of a Fanboy: If it ain't Marvel Studios version of being "accurate" and "faithful", then it is not faithful at all and it deserves all the hate and criticism.

Ive said this before and I'll say it again
Despite the higher popularity-
Xmen film series film for film are better in terms of cinematic quality than mcu movies
What hurts is the total bombs of wo and x3 outside of the that x1 x2 fc and dofp are all incredible movies

Id even go so far as to say that after Dark Knight DoFP is the deepest most satisfiying cmb film when graded on technical qualities of the movies.

But forget logic a good time at the movies is faithful comic bool adaption from the period that I WANT. Forget the fact that the canon itself turns on itself depending on writer and era.

You wanna see a real faithful cmb transition? lets take the superman who couldn't fly the original 5 Xmen (no miniorites btw) campy Batman and original suit iron man cause hey thats being faithful.

These fanboys cant pick and choose. And dont gimme nothing about Apocalypse size whn Isaac has already stated Sabah Nur is gonna have body mod capabilities

X-Men has had two bad films, but MCU has had Iron Man 2, a film so bad that it's like those two in every respect.

The only comic book film that I have actively been "hating" on is Fantastic Four and that is not because I hate the costumes (and I do hate the costumes). For a myriad of reasons I think it looks and sounds like a bad film. Apocalypse doesn't look nor sound like it's going to be a poor film.

Apocalypse looks fine and I'd rather have a short good actor playing the role than a tall non acting wrestler or whatever. The accurate comic book height thing has never been a huge deal to me. And if it ever was I got over it and realized how silly I was being.
