Hope 1973 is the year when Apocalypse is woken up, so through next ten years he learn himself how the world looks and next recruits his four horsemans.
It would be stupid if he did it during one year, just after being woken up. It works in comic, whithout any explanation, and when reader is 10-15 years old. But at big screen for adult audience it wouldn't work. There has to be explanation how Apocalypse finds those mutants, how he knows what they need, etc.

Depending on how long he's been asleep since he created sinister, he may not need all that time. Someone who has lived for 5,000 years doesn't need to take the time to figure out what going on if he's been asleep for a hundred. Thats like a day to him. When we wake up, we don't need to take the time to figure out whats going on before we start. I'd think he is on another level in that respect, almost to the point of knowing where technology and population will be as soon as he sees what the year is. He's done this hibernation thing enough times and in conjunction with his celestial tech that he has merged with, I think his level of intellect along with his abilities give him the ability to just know.

Especially as it could be that he has done this before many times which is how so many different civilizations have known of him. He may wake up and the first thing he does is go recruiting and understand the world he is in.

Although somewhat lighter skinned, he was still blue; so it's a nonissue for me. Maybe his complexion darkened due to prolonged sun exposure. The change could also be attributed to his mutation.

Yeah, I thought that the actor could have been a girl as well. Facially, he kind of resembles Gal Gadot.

First off, lets not act like this color differential has anything to do with shapeshifting.

Most importantly, I can't even believe your wasting your time responding. You guys said I was nitpicking about Apoc's look. I could give to F's about a one shade color differential between movies, and I could care less about a complaint someone has about it, and you shouldn't either.

The shapeshifting comment you make is just a b.s. excuse...an example of you coming to the aid of any disagreement about this project. You'll make an excuse for anything, whether your favorite look is without the lips even though its showed up .001% of Apoc's history, or saying his current look is true to the character, when it is definitely more true to the Ivan Ooze character than Apoc, and now the shapeshifter comment as for the reason he has gone from one shade of blue to another shade of blue, when we both know the directors of the movie dont have this in mind for the reason of the coloring. I'm sure the directors couldn't care less about this minute detail and haven't thought twice about it, yet here you are making excuses for everything.

This complaint about color is a little ridic, but you trying to come up with a plausible excuse for it is down right nonsensical. Your answer to a complaint of this nature should be an ignore.

Considering the poster I was responding too pretty much is obsessed with BS answers, I fail to see where the problem is. I am not the one who is OCD about continuity.

And I fail to see how actually liking the look and trusting the actor and director for the performance is making an excuse.

personally, as a "hater", the color is a minor issue
to elucidate my issues more thoroughly:
-the cowl prosthesis is too large, and makes his head look bulbousy from certain angles
-the facial make-up has a somewhat outdated style to it's sculpt (lending to all the Ivan Ooze comparisons)(Watch Face-off on Syfy for more modern make-up trends)
-the tubes running to the head are oddly placed and have the appearance of braids
-it looks very stiff, like it may affect his range of movement
-the eyes being normal makes him look too human, the white eyes add to his mysterious and ethereal qualities
-his size isn't bulky enough, even forgiving height, he doesn't look like the brutish monster I (and many others apparently) always imagined

tried to do that in a logical way, and not so much "ughhh he's should be two shades lighter and looks like a power ranger villain" ..did I succeed?

That's all not to say the performance can't or won't be great (it'll have to be if Fox doesn't want another Doctor Doom on their hands)
I'm sure Isaac will give it his all
but movies being a visual medium, and the source being derived from another visual medium, it's understandable that people get hung up on the look of the characters

Just because someone doesn't like the look (Apocalypse looks like Ivan Ooze, there's no denying this) doesn't mean they're being petty or childish. Posts like yours certainly are though.

People keep posting this comparison...it's ridiculous. The design elements, almost every single one of them are markedly different.
