Guess some people are going to be disappointed about the colossal sizes of these Jaegers and Monsters. I, on the other hand, am filled with joy about the scale of this movie.

Going by the poster someone should make a picture showing the scale of the mechs to humans and buildings.

I meant in terms of box office performance.
I think giant robots have a better chance of pulling big numbers.

Look at Transformers. I know a lot of that has to do with the existing brand being widely popular but giant robots isn't a field which is really being exploited other than the Transformers series.

WB was smart in trying to get a piece of that action. We'll see how it works out I suppose.

Well these are giant monsters. You need to fight them with giant robots. That poster doesn't really show us exactly how high they are either. Some Gundam are over over 20 meters anyway.

I just prefer smaller mechs because it looks better with giant monsters. But that's me. As I've said before, I'm a bit of a mecha nitpicker, lol.

Dude if Godzilla is like 50 meters you need something that can rival that.

These aren't xenomorphs, they are kaiju.

I'm happy with the size of the mechs. Hopefully Comic Con shows snippets of them in action.

Many thanks to ThePowerCosmic again.

I gotta go to work but I got to the first battle in the script. It. Is. Glorious.

Before we write off the robots as being too big to be realistic, we need to remember that we still know very little about this movie. Perhaps the robots are only about 7 feet tall but look mammoth because humans have shrunken to the size of insects in the future.

Bet you never thought of THAT.

No problem, man! I really can't wait to see the first battle on the big screen. It's the only battle I've read so far and I can't even imagine what the other ones are going to have! :woot:

This is a much more thoughtful film than I thought it would be, but I'm really not surprised when it comes from Del Toro. I actually find myself liking and caring about the characters... Probably because the movie literally delves into their psyches. If the emotions the characters feel are as strong or stronger than they are in the script, this will be one hell of a movie.

So it is pretty anime-like in both visuals and characterization. One thing all those mecha flicks and shows have in common is that they like to juxtapose robot fights with like deep philosophical ****.

This script definitely does that.

Could you send me the script?

I'm so excited for this movie. But you know what I'm even more excited for?

The porn version. They won't even need to change the title! :woot:

They'll add a "job" to it just for the less inclined.

I expect the size of the mechs to be the size of Gaiking in the Gaiking trailer.

I just watched War Of The Gargantuas again- IMO still the best Kaiju movie ever made. The scene were the green Gargantua first rises from the ocean and comes ashore still gives me chills. I can't wait to see what Del Toro's Kaiju look like when the rise from the sea and attack the cities forthe first time. Imagine sitting on the beach, having a great day....and then you see a monster that looks like it came straight from hell, over 100 stories tall, rise out of the ocean and roar. I cant freaking wait.
