Age of Ultron Paul Bettany IS The Vision

So, when Jarvis becomes Vision, will we get a Jarvis 2.0 down the line? So Tony still has an onboard AI and someone that assists him in the lab?

Personally, I don't think so.
I think the events of IM3 and the direction of AOU point towards Tony developing a version of Extremis/Bleeding Edge armor in AOU. Since that armor is literally self-contained within Tony Stark himself, it's also completely controlled by Tony's mind. If that's the case, there won't be any more JARVIS AI inside the suit.

So this would be a good way to get Tony into Extremis Armor (which, as we saw in the comics, was extremely vulnerable to a hostile takeover by Ultron....ahem), and still keep Bettany around, as an honest-to-god Avenger.

That would actually be pretty neat. If they don't do that though, and Tony gets a new AI, would be cool if they gave her a female voice.

Wait, what?

I asked same thing, but I think people are taking the news that Bettany and Renner were meeting with Whedon for costume stuff as meaning Hawkeye might have a new one.

I hope so. At least give him a mask or something.

It would be very silly for Renner to have a series of costume tests for the costume he's already had. Now... how dramatic a change it will be, we don't know, but it will clearly be a change.

I think dummy will be upgraded to take over once JARVIS becomes independent :o

Maybe just making sure Renner still fits his old one, haha. He should have the red/puple sunglasses/optics this time

Yeah the rumour was that Simon McBurney will be the new human Jarvis. That remains to be seen.:oldrazz:

Maybe he's Jarvis in a flashback? This quote is what has me thinking that.

According to the inuniverse comics, Tony based JARVIS's voice off of his old butler he had as a child, who was more of a father to him than Howard.

Oh he'll have a costume upgrade alright but I don't think it'll be anything major. The report suggested 'armour' and that could either be for the Vision or Hawkeye. Who knows, we'll see soon enough.:woot:

Report: Paul Bettany's portrayal of Vision will be close to the pale version as 1st scene in West Coast Avengers #45. pic.***********/lWDPZ1gfNY

I hope they go into the history of Jarvis, that Stark was working with Pym to create the Jarvis AI, and that the AI was mapped off of Pym's brain somehow. Then ultron somehow takes the synthazoid from Cap TFA, and turns it into the Vision using the Jarvis AI, but I do also hope the original Jarvis AI remains separate... though it might get confusing on screen if Tony is talking to Jarvis in his suit and Vision is also talking on screen in the same scene... lol... that could actually be really funny with how RDJ plays Stark....

As far as phasing goes, there was the episode of SHIELD wherein dimensional anomalies gave a guy what amounted to phasing ability. They *could* go with that as a basis.

Great casting. I hope that Vision does get his classic comic appearance eventually. Hopefully he will be red faced by the end, with all the other green and yellow colour scheme.

I was just mentioning this the other day in the Jeremy Irons/Alfred thread how the movie "Margin Call" is full of comic characters: Lex Luthor, Alfred, Jarvis, Dr Abraham Erskine and now Vision. And a few others in that cast seem ripe for landing a comic book role (Zachary Quinto, Simon Baker etc).

Possible description of Vision's costume:

It has a helmet akin to the Iron Man armor, but it’s designed more like a face than a smooth Stark helmet. The iconic yellow and green are present in the design, but it’s more metallic shades than bright ‘comic book colors.’ They said it reminds them somewhat of the T-100 from Terminator 2 but it’s not as shiny. The yellow metal “liquid” bits seem to light up. This may or may not happen since there are two designs for that section. One lights up the other doesn’t. That’s the only difference. The cape is present, but they say it appears to only “pop out” when in flight mode. The cap sports some similar shades of yellow as the body. The “neck pieces” are the same yellow but they seem to shift positions from “standing” (for lack of a better word) to “flight mode.”

I hope by the end of the film Vision gets his more known color scheme. It'd be funny if like Tony in Iron Man 1 says "I need to add a bit of a hot rod look to myself" (not that exact line as that's horrible but you catch my drift). :awesome:

How tall is Bettany? He's pretty tall isn't he?

Still so freaking hyped about this news, best news I have heard for this movie, really happy vision is in, love that description , it makes sense, I honestly feel the all white would work less on screen than his traditional colors.

Oooh... I'd forgotten about that. It was more like teleporting, but still, great call!

It'd be cool if the movie starts out with the creation of phasing technology by Hydra. That's how you introduce Strucker along with the twins in his reluctant employ. Ultron at some point acquires this tech, incorporating it into his android construct.

Fan-Made. He could look like that judging from the description.

Yeah he's like 6'3".

He'll look very impressive as an android to go up against the likes of Thor.

Maybe he'll have an appearance like Ted Cassidy's android, Ruk, in Star Trek:

Perhaps Paul Bettany will be on set and interacting with everyone, but will be digitally replaced or enhanced so you can tell it is Bettany but something seems... off. Like Uncanny Valley or something. After all, the Chitari were all stuntmen in white suits before getting replaced digitally.

Of course, in the comics they made it clear that the Vision wasn't really off. Yes, he had red skin and black eyes, but he didn't give people the willies. (Aside from his ghost phasing.) He was a synthezoid, so he wasn't really a robot like Ultron.

And, of course, in the comics Vision's personality was based on the brain engrams of Simon Williams. Who has not (yet) appeared in the MCU. To what degree the Vision *is* Simon has varied over the years. There's an understandable notion that both of them would be attracted to Wanda Maximoff, but in many ways they are different.

I've hoped Simon Williams and Eric Williams will appear in the MCU, although they obviously won't have a connection to the Vision. Eric had a freaky hatred of the Vision, thinking he was "pretending" to be Simon.
