if you look closely, when eddie brock is walking into the church, you see this black mass moving out of the seat, it could be a person, but why would sam raimi direct just 1 person sitting in a church and then leaving. anyway if you look afterwards, when brock says "i want you to do me 1 thing" its too dark to see anything in the chairs, but they show just the chairs, no eddie!

maybe raimi did it so you would see it, and the scene thats birds eye view, you see it slithering?

That and the fact that the form is totally black and rising straight up...that does not look like a person.

the symbiote falls from the bell tower and lands on eddie, eddie brock is standing there saying "parker" then the symbiote falls from the bell tower onto eddie.

but it does look like a person getting up...people do it all the time in real churches...and why would raimi have someone in the background? i guess he's going for a bit of realism...it's not like brock is there screaming for god to kill peter parker...i can't say for sure, obviously, but i'm quite confident that the thing getting up is a person and not the symbiote

People get up in real churches all the time...nuh uh. HAHA had to do it. I don't know why someone would be wearing all black in a church but it could be a nun I guess.

it's a blurry video and the person is not in focus in the shot to begin with..they will apear dark and blurry no matter what..they might be wearing drown and blue but it is just showing up here as black...or maybe they are wearing a black rain coat...who knows
if i'm wrong i'm wrong...but i think people are being too hopefuly about this particular scene

what about the birds eye view of the church in the shadows... you dont see eddie there, why would it be in the trailer? and i dont know, id be too embarrassed to walk into a church to ask god to kill someone if someone was inside

if nothing else, showing a "bird's eye view" of the church gives the scene a certain feeling and emphasizes the size of the church - maybe it will be established in an earlier scene that this is the same church peter goes to for the bells and this is when we recognize it...who knows! when the movie comes out, if i'm wrong, call me on it for sure
i'm sticking to my guns, though...i will continue to say that there is no sybiote sitting in the pews
also, are you saying that if a church was empty you'd have less of a problem asking god to kill someone?

Maybe Eddie goes in there, some nuns get up and leave and he starts to pray. He starts to walk out and it rises behind him in a pew.

You can see a dark figure rise up behind Eddie...the Q&A I believe said the symbiote takes somewhat of a humanoid form.

I noticed that when I first saw this trailer on July 22nd, but I just thought it was a black spot,nothing to worry about.

This could be the way the scene goes down...

Eddie is walking into the church, sits down, and begins to pray to God. "It's Brock, sir." Meanwhile, Parker lands in the elltower above, and begins to scream as the bell puts him in extreme pain. "I'm here humbled and humiliated." Parker then realizes that loud sounds weaken the evil black symbiote, and begins to painfully and slowly rip off the suit he is in. "..to ask you for one thing." (loud scream we hear in the last part of this trailer from Peter) "I want you to kill Peter-" (Brock hears the scream this time and looks up, saying his line from the teaser) "-Parker!" Brock begins to cry, realizing now that Parker all along was Spider-Man, and as Parker swings out of the belltower in nothing but underwear, the symbiote hears Brock's cry. Slowly, the black material drips down, and as Brock looks up, it engulfs him. A painful sound emerges from Eddie, and he screams in the loudest voice possible. We see the black suit begin to cover Eddie's body which is now growing tremendously into a giant monster, and Eddie's high pitched scream turns into a very deep, dark roar, as he looks up to the camera. He has become Venom.
