why would mj or gwen stace be there, its probably just regular people leaving the church, when they got up from the benches they were probably leaving and eddie was praying.

if you look closely, when eddie brock is walking into the church, you see this black mass moving out of the seat, it could be a person, but why would sam raimi direct just 1 person sitting in a church and then leaving. anyway if you look afterwards, when brock says "i want you to do me 1 thing" its too dark to see anything in the chairs, but they show just the chairs, no eddie!

I don't think it's the symbiote... Maybe it's a nun, as someone wrote before. The symbiote falls onto brock when he's standing right under the belltower, watching Peter ripping off the black suit...

we don't know that, just because it happened in the cartoon doesn't mean the film will copy it
