We need it. The show deserves it. What am I suppose to do if I don't get my 10 weeks of Eva as Vanessa every year? :csad:

Man this show is way to dark! I haven't watched not one episode but the commercials put the fear of God in you. I can't blame people for not watching..........and I'm a guy who loves supernatural things. But this thing is beyond dark. I believe it's a good show but man does it go beyond dark, according to commercials.

This episode was great. The set design and cinematography on this show is fantastic. They really nail the gothic horror vibe.

It's so disappointing that this show is not getting way more viewers. For all the complaints people have about the lack of feminism, LGBT, etc. in shows/films, this show has been acing those big time. We just had a full episode solely devoted to the female lead and her female mentor. Just when you thought she was about to be raped... boom! She bites the guy and holds a knife to his throat. What's her motivation in life? To save her female friend. The men in this episode were mostly just pawns of the villainess. How often do you get that? And then last week they showed us a transgender character. Not to mention that almost every character in this show has engaged in some same sex adventures. This is like the internet's wet dream.

A very vocal minority in the grand scheme of things. At the end of the day, most viewers want safe, action-oriented junk. Transformers, MCU films, Walking Dead, bland police procedurals. A horror-oriented gothic period drama with LBGT themes wasn't ever going to pull in high ratings.

So who was Joan referring to when she said that Lucifer did not fall from heaven alone? Was she referring to his mate that seems connected to Vanessa (possessed? reincarnation?)?

Acoording to the Bible, when Lucifer was cast out heaven a third of the host (angels) fell with him. That third became his demons. I assume that is what she was refereing to. She is telling Venessa that Lucifer isnt the only evil thing roaming the earth.

Ah, that makes sense.

I also feel like that book of death she gave her will be a big deal this season.

Were these witches from ancient Egypt, they don't look like they came from there. By the way, in the end of the episode, there was a contract saying the old witch's property now belonged to Vanessa, so, did the people from the village just let her leave like that and even give her the property? I thought Evelyn's husband (or lover?) wanted to take that property too. Also, why didn't Evelyn and her group of witches just take Vanessa as they wanted to? She was incredibly weakened, would have been realy easy.

One of the young witches is named Hecate. That is an ancient greek name for the goddess of sorcery and magic so they may be from Greece. Or Madam Kali could have just named her that because they are witches and Hecate was a goddess of magic.

Just saw the first two episodes. I thought the premiere was a trifle disappointing. The witches were too easily defeated in the carriage and it felt like not much happened in the episode after that.

The second episode was much better. I have to laugh at Victor falling for a corpse. That is so him. Kinda feel sorry for Caliban, though. His creator is screwing him over yet again. Poor Dr. Lyle! I assumed he was genuinely evil, but he's being blackmailed by Madame Kali. I loled hard at his flirtation with Ethan and the way he swooned at the mention of his gunbelt.

I might be wrong but as far as I know, the devil wants Vanessa to give in to her own darkness and join him (her?).

Taking her against her will isn't enough.

May I say Mrs. Malfoy is absolutely killing it this season.

I absolutely loved Eva Greens character flashback ep. Gives alot of backstory to the witches motivation.

I love the opening score too..especially the latter slower part..

I haven't laughed like that in a while. And I watch B99.

I guess what made it funnier is that it was rather unexpected, given the sad, moody feel of the episode. :woot:

It's one of my favorite opening scores. Abel Korzeniowski did a great job with music in the show overall. I actually got the entire soundtrack from season 1.

Finally all caught up. What an excellent episode. This show manages its flashbacks so well, and normally I hate whole episodes that revolve around flashbacks. Joan was the best. I loved how she ended so many sentences with "yeah?" The only thing I can't figure out is how Madame Kali and her witches didn't nab Vanessa when she left the cottage since they seemed to be keeping an eye on the place.

I'm nervous about that book Joan gave Vanessa. I hope she doesn't read it. Spirituality is clearly important to Vanessa and I'd hate to see her parted from God forever.

Yeah, I wondered that as well. And also why the villagers didn't burn Vanessa too, instead of leaving the house to her. Wasn't the motive beyond burning Joan to take her property?

Maybe the spell that Joan did that can't allow non-humans inside is still active even if she was dead (until maybe the blood fades out?) so that's why they can't nab Vanessa? Although I don't see how that can stop them from taking her when she's out venturing the woods...

Could be. If that's the case it gives more meaning to Vanessa's scorpion she left in the end.

Yeah, this as well. Unless Joan protected part of the woods against them too. Though I find that unlikely.

By the way, I've always meant to say - I absolutely love your avatar. :woot:

I want Dembe's cake. :p Looks yummy!

Thanks! :D

You mean Sembene? Wrong show. :p LOL I thought the exact same thing about the cake! :hehe:

it's not going to end well but I love it when Vanessa uses the Verbis Diablo against those witches. For some reason, I thought Hecate seducing Ethan was going to be an arc throughout but I'm glad they wrapped that up in one episode.

I'd so watch a Sembene/Ethan spinoff. Along with a Mr.Lyle/someone one. :awesome:

Another good episode. The witchs/demons really are creepy and the attack on the group did make me jump a bit. I also liked the Vanessa and Victor scenes. Eva Green has the best smile ,so its nice to see her be able to flash it every now and then. Can't wait till next week.

Hecate vainly talking about shoes after attack will bite them. Ethan knows she isn't fro daddy dearest. Knowledge is power
