People make me sad (PS3 related)

Ah... so in simpler terms, the PS3 won't be as 'advanced' as it should be?

Yea, its not gonna be as advanced as that price tag implies.

Okay on Sony's website they are saying what the 600 one has and what the 500 has, really there is no huge diffrence like the 360's. The only thing that diffrent is the 500 does not have HDMI and no memory stick, secure digital or compact flash. I'm not big into technology and I hate when people just constantly talk about the SPUs and the Central Processing Units are capable of being run 10 X faster. I don't understand that garbage, so can you guys just please how it will effect me and my games.

And nice thread by the way HorrorFan and for old times

The Wii, regardless of what Nintendo says, is NOT for the "casual" gamer. A casual gamer is NOT going to pick up the "wiimote" and start slinging it around the room. When i inform the general gaming public of the Wii and its "wiimote" it is usally met with laughter.
Thank you for giving this forum a much-needed reality-check.

Laughter? Where I shop and work, it is usually met with a pre-order question. And quickly thereafter, they ask about LOZ:TP. So maybe you just live on the east coast. Or Europe.

Everyone who buys a ps3 needs to have their balls ripped off so the tards can't reproduce ever again and dilute the gene pool even further.

so says DOOM.

Today I went into my local Game store in the UK, and the guy asked me if I'd like to be put on pre order for ps3 and wii. I laughed at ps3 but said yeah to wii. I asked how ps3 was doing, and he said that the interest is definitly there, and its doing as well as wii.(and they all know the price too as well ).

see? I told you not to underestimate the stupidity of people :(

Pre-orders are mostly by hardcore gamers, who are a small % of the consumers. Wait until it's released. Then the real numbers will show.

Iv said this a dozen times, no matter how much u ppl want the PS3 to fail ,its NOT going to. When i worked at EB Games, that system was the number one most asked about system, period. I couldnt count how many ppl wanted to know its release date and when the reserves started, even AFTER i told em its insane price tag.
Of course the PS3 won't fail. However, it is not going to have the tremendous success as it's predecessor's.

Im sure there are a few, but they are prob in the minority. Just going on my personal experience in the video game reatail business, there is a HUGE buzz for this system. The Wii is ALOT more selected, and in that i mean, only a select number of ppl ask about that system. Most of them are the ones buying Nintendo products to begin with.

I'm sure a lot of people were talking about the Dreamcast, so obviously your point holds little weight.

The Wii, regardless of what Nintendo says, is NOT for the "casual" gamer. A casual gamer is NOT going to pick up the "wiimote" and start slinging it around the room.

You know this how? Have you done extensive research on the casual gamer's opinion? I doubt it. The Wii has a better chance of drawing in the casual gamer due to one VERY important feature you seem to overlook; price. How likely is it that someone who plays video games 5-10 hrs a week is going to dish out $600 or $500 for a console (not even including cost of software)?

When i inform the general gaming public of the Wii and its "wiimote" it is usally met with laughter, most of the time the ones who are laughing are above the ages of 15ish. Some think its a really cool idea that ur movement controls the characters actions.

Taken in your past posts about the Wii, Nintendo, and other related topics, I don't exactly think you're the most non-partisan source for information on the Wii. I'm sure you make it sound as if it is some rediculous gimmick that has no practical use, whether intentional or not.

For the "general gaming public" the PS3 is THE next big thing in gaming, and thats why it is going to sell like hotcakes. Most of us here dont fall into that "general gaming public" and we know some of the crap that Sony is trying to push, thats why u see alot of negative Sony stuff on this forum.

I disagree that the PS3 is the next big thing for the general gaming public. In fact, I don't think the Wii or 360 are. No console really stands out above the rest as being the next big thing as in the past. The PS3, with a $500-$600 price point (not even including software), won't sell like hotcakes. The PS3 will definately sell, and it will probably do a lot better than we anticipate, simply because it's a PlayStation. It's the same reason why people spend a thousands of dollars on a Mercedes.

You can't buy a Consul. It was a position, while you could buy it. It hasn't been available for sale for 2033 years. A game console however you can buy.

ANYONE STUPID ENOUGH TO PRE-ORDER A 'PS3', ISN'T GOING TO BE SMART ENOUGH TO READ/COMPREHEND THAT ARTICLE. :o

I"ve preordered 3 PS3's, and will be getting all three at first launch.

Though I'm also selling all three on eBay ones the shortages hit, so I guess I don't really count.

How much do you expect to make on that as I reserved one a long time ago but wasn't going to go through with it. If there's $ to be made I'll definitely get it.

oh shut up! :down

sony is REALLY pulling people by the balls...............and lighting them on fire

I'm not buying it on the first day because I don't have that kind of money. Even if I did I would not; I want them to work the kinks out first, and I am assuming that it will not be many, for they took all that extra time to perfect it! like cars drive and crash on asphalt the ps3 is going to be better than the xbox360, just look at the specs, espiacially the blue ray disk and extra teleflop.

Maybe but they definatly aren't selling the position of one of the two rulers of the Roman republic. Which is what a Consul was.

what really takes the piss is when i went back today to return a game, i said its more or less the same power as 360 anyway. one of the workers tried saying the ps3 was way more powerful but youd only see it in ps exclusive titles (i restrained myself from saying 'so how comes war hark, resistance and heavenly sword look below par some of the top upcoming 360 titles?).

They must think the average customer is an idiot.

That's because the average customer is a gullible, uninformed idiot who is a sucker for recognized brands and mostly makes his/her purchase based not on product research, but magazine ads and exaggerated company labels.

The sad thing is, the more i think about the amount of ps3 pre orders i saw when i signed up for wii pre order info, thats a true statement.

I figure that at peak the xbox360 sold for 1700$ on ebay. Thats a ~350% markup.

FIguring that the PS3 won't hit that high, maybe 200%, anywhere from 1000$-1500$. If it gets major shortages, you could probably sell them a week or two before christmas for around 2000$ a piece.

This is all assuming they're going to have shortages. And from reading all the info about it, there is going to be MASSIVE shortages.

So for a ~2000$, I'll be making 4000-6000$, a 2000$-4000$ profit. Hopefully/

When asked what would happen if a 7-core PlayStation 3 ends up losing another core during operation, Reeves stated that the user would simply send the unit back for replacement.
I love this part. Playstation owners must think it's normal for you console to only last two - three years.

My ps2 has worked since I got, on launch day. I've taken it apart to clean the laser though(It refused to even play ps1 or Ico at one point, NO ONE REFUSES ICO!).
Anyway, I'm with the whole PS3 is gonna bomb and Wii is gonna win this gen. So what if the graphics won't be like the PS3, if they can get them to look like Resident Evil 4, then I will be very happy.
No one, except for very rich a**holes and idiots are gonna buy the PS3.
Anyone with a kid or a brain is gonna buy a Wii.
Can't wait to finally get off my ass and actually interact with a game.
