OK obviously its hard to define what a "Perfect" movie is but I was watching "Jaws" the other night and thought to myself that it may very well be a perfect moive. Everything clicked (acting, music, story, tension etc.) perfectly. What movies do you consider "perfect"? They don't have to be your favorite (Jaws is not mine)!

not everything about jaws was perfect, the shark wasn't quite perfect itself

The Matrix :
Perfect pacing , perfect visual effects that complement the movie , perfect score , percing editing , perfect all the way

The GodFather 1 and 2 :
The former setting the standard for great acting , the latter showing just what the perfect sequel should look like.

Terminator 2 :
Again like the matrix. Pacing , complementing VFX , score , acting.

That's all i can think of right now :p

no movie could ever really be perfect, otherwise it would be loved by everyone and I know no movie that has that kind of respect...even the greatest movie of all time (the godfather part II, if you didn't know) isn't understood by alot of people, and can't comprehend why their's so much love

Yeah, as gvcool2 said, there's no such thing as a perfect movie, only movies that are perfect in some viewers' eyes.

I also think The Godfather Part II is near perfect.

should I repeat my post in the replica thread

Hey i visited you're screw up dammit  . Not only that , i posted in you're screw up :p

Mr. Smith Goes To Washinton is possibly the closest thing to perfection in a film I've seen, but many people hate it because of it's idealism. I enjoy that.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
The Godfather 1 and 2
Goodfellas

United 93 is probably the most recent movie that's close to being perfect...

Casablanca.

That's right up there too. I remember the first time I saw it I was 20 (way back in 1982) and was really surprised by how much I enjoyed it, how well it held up and how many lines had entered into the popular culture.

The Shawshank Redemption, that movie was simply perfection.

I know many people won't agree with me but I would like to add Syriana to the list of movies I've seen that are seemingly "perfect". The script is a work of genius, there is nary a flaw in the characterization and performances (believe me I've looked hard), the music is just right and Stephen Gaghan's direction in juggling four complex stories and so seamlessly tying them together in the end is nothing short of miraculous.

Granted, you might be scratching your heads all the way through the film if you don't have a proper understanding of the themes and subject matter of the film beforehand but as far as a pure, no holds-barred political thriller is concerned that is both sophisticated and brutally honest in it's uncompromising depiction of the politics in the region, Syriana is miles and miles ahead of anything in it's class. It's almost incomprehensible how the hell did Gaghan make a film on such a controversial topic that's not only incredibly smart, but also avoids falling into the pitfalls of partisan propoganda (*cough*V For Vendetta) that many similar films in the genre unfortunately have.

Syriana is perfection.
