Your Favorite Closing Shots

^ It was the first film where I felt like I had my heart ripped out along with the main character. Blunt, but true and sad words. :csad:

Someone please post a happy closing shot next :csad:

Kill Bill Vol. 2

The Bride and B.B. watching TV together, happy, made me feel warm inside.

Scream 3's ending.

Sidney's been living alone in that wooded mountain area, behind locks, guns, a security alarms, all alone afraid to let anyone in, but she's there with Gale and Dewey. She doesn't set the alarm or lock the door and when it blows open, she leaves it open with a smile to go watch a movie with them feeling completely safe in the world.

Almost sucks that Scream 4 is happening because of how perfect of an end it is for the Sidney Prescott character.

Blade Runner is one. For some strange reason, the last shot of Meet the Parents is one I love.

I thought TF2 was great. That's what should've ended the first movie. It really nails that boy-and-his-car concept, even though it's not Bumblebee standing next to him.

I thought the speech in TF1 was much more meaningful... but yea the boy standing next to the car in TF2 was great

The Third Man was mentioned before, but it bears repeating. That's a great closing shot.

The very last shot at the conclusion of Vertigo is great as well.

I'll toss out the ending of Runaway Train. Doesn't get any more primal than that.

The ending of Batman Begins. I got giddy when I saw the Joker card.

The ending of The Dark Knight. Gordon's voice over with Batman running away was great

The ending of Spider-Man. Swinging around New York City and the American Flag was awesome.

It would be the more exciting ending had Iron Man not already established all the guys would be getting together.
Are you talking about the movie? Because I don't know anyone who knows about Nick Fury being in after the credits. Plus, chances are, you would have found out about Marvel Studios planning on doing an Avengers run way before the actual movie came out. The Internet is a double-edged sword.

What Dreams May Come Has a pretty happy ending.

Aliens, with Ripley and Newt asleep.

ROTK, with Samwise entering his home with his family.

Yes, I meant the movie. Oh, I also remembered that the weapons they used having STARK written on the side was sufficient enough to establish Tony Stark exists in this universe had someone not seen the Nick Fury cameo.

Either way, Tony showing up wasn't a more effective pre-credits ending than the Days Without Incident counter rolling to 0. At least I thought so.

From a film making standpoint, that would be off. I don't dislike the green eyes scene, but it's unoriginal. I've final scenes like that all the time, specifically in horror movies, where the bad guy opens his eyes for one last "scare." But the newest superhero on the block waltzing in like he's too cool for this movie is an unexpected turn.

Directors want the audience to leave the theater with the highest point of excitement possible when it comes to superhero movies and the excitement would have been drained had they had to sit through another scene that couldn't top the one before. Tony's scene is a knockout punch and you don't jab the unconscious guy on his way down to the mat.

Terminator - "He said there's a storm coming" "I know"
T2 - the thumbs up and then riding into the unknown
Iron Man - "The truth is, I am Iron Man"
Raiders of the Lost Ark - the crates
Jurassic Park - the T-Rex and them them flying off.
Empire - Luke and Leia looking out of the ship
Batman '89 - the Bat-signal
Batman Returns - Catwoman popping up
Superman movies - Superman flying in orbit
The Godfather
Batman Begins - the Joker card
Day of the Dead ('85) - Sarah waking up on the beach marking down a new day
The Incredible Hulk - Banner with the green eyes and Stark and Ross talking

Hey this is off topic, but is your screenanme in reference to the Local H because if so that is awesome as I am listening to that album at this moment.

Yes, sir. I love Local H. I saw them the night Ronnie James Dio died, they played the entirety of Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles and covered Holy Diver. Then Scott compared used my height as a comparison to Dio's. "Let's put it this way, Dio was as tall as this guy is short." (I'm 6'6")

Oh crap how could I have forgotten the ending in Dumb and Dumber when Harry and Lloyd didn't get on the bus.

Hell yeah. As much as I love the original and Lugosi, I think the Hammer version is better and Lee is a better Dracula.

I'm going to say I prefer the 1931 film. While it is not as "exciting" as the 1958 movie, Todd Browning, at least in the first 30 minutes, created a more tense, unnerving atmosphere.

But most of all for the amazing performances of Lugosi (my favorite Dracula) and Dwight Frye as Renfield. Renfield was the most interesting character in the book and is in all the movies he appears in. His absence in the 1958 film was sorely felt.

With that said, I do agree that the 1958 one had a better closing shot and the most satisfying ending ever in a Dracula movie.

However, if you ever watch the blu-ray or 2-disc edition of Coppola's Dracula (1992), be sure to watch the original ending that he shot before George Lucas gave him some (horrid) advice to change it. In the original ending there is no forelorn love after Mina kills Dracula she is free and walks out to the courtyard and she and the killers leave without any dialogue to religious music over a crucifix on the snowy court floor that begins to glow as Van Helsing is the last to cross it. That would have been a GREAT ending. Too bad Lucas got involved.

P.S. An amazing shot at the end of a vampire film, possibly the best, is the closing shot of Herzog's Nosferatu remake from 1979. But it is not on youtube, I'm afraid. :(

Nice.

The 1931 version has a great atmosphere and the absence of music actually helps it in certain places. And Frye was tremendous in the movie. "Rats!" I like to think of him as the Bruce Campbell of his day because of that performance. Whenever I see him pop up in some other monster flick, the movie gets an immediate "coolness" shot in the arm.
