I wanna see the firebird for the first time in its full BIG SCREEN GLORY so I am glad they are not showing everything!! THANK YOU FOX!!! THANK YOU TOM ROTHMAN!!! :D

I'm with ya on that one!

Are we going to see her emerging from the water just like in the comics?

^ apparently not, but it is hoped...

It better be that the effects weren't completely finished because they keep showing us fire and orange effects, I mean I found a new thing:-

Is it just me or are they not so much black but just REALLY really dark red?

I kinda have to give a chuckle at all this complaining about phoenix/fire affects. This is not the Comic Phoenix.. in this version Jean is a super powerful Telepath/Telekentic. Why would those powers induce fire? let alone in a shape of a phoenix bird? There is no logic to it so of course it probably is not in the movie. Sure I could possably see... perhaps a glowing affect..but in the shape of a phoenix?? why? what one thing in all 3 of the xmen movies woud lead anyone to think any of her powers should involve anything doing with a Phoenix. Think of it this way.. Jean's a Powerful mind mutant.. not an alien creature with fire like phoenix affects. I doubt in the entire movie they will refer to Jean as Phoenix.

It's not just about the phoenix, fire effects would do me! !

However, the form of a fiery phoenix not present in the other movies has no significance with this movie, its whole point is that she is reborn as the ultimately powerful uncontrollable being...

That's why the phoenix would then be shown (as she is now at her ultimate potential whereas she wasn't before)

Jean as phoenix has always had these effects in every form of the X-men, to not have them is a tragedy, and a blow at her iconic image

why would jean manisfest a phoenix bird in the movieverse?

well jimjam-06 i dun really think it would make any sense within the context of the film [regardless of what you stated]

Because she did in X2.

yeah exactly, I don't get Eros' reasoning...

the bird was in x2, in the comics and shows her transition into the most powerful mutant...

Why SHOULDN'T there be a firebird? is the real question

so jean for no reason manifest a firebird? a firebird represents power now? in the comics we know why theirs a firebird, but it makes no sense to the average viewer in the movies.

yes the firebird does represent power, it always has

And in the comics technically you don't know why theirs a firebird, you don't really know why that shape is the way it is, really all you know is that it is the power of fire and life...

To an average viewer fire effects would look like Jean has become extremely powerful, just like in x2. I didn't hear any 'average viewer' complain there :spidey:

Without even considering the comics, she did it in the last movie os why is it so strange for it to be in X3?

Famke also refers to herself as Phoenix/Jean in some talk show appearances, and Phoenix not only represents power, but rebirth (duh), that's the whole point of her being alive again in X3.

this is kind of off topic but it is it weird that rogue is standing on the brotherhood side of that pic but the thread starter, just wonderin'

Actually in the comics, you do know why there's a firebird. It's because the mythical Phoenix possessed Jean!

What are you talking about? If you read the comics you know exactly what the Phoenix is.

That's why we better see a damn Phoenix! IMO, if we don't see a firebird, she should just be called Dark Jean. I'm 90% sure we'll see the Phoenix effects.

oh my god, you so misunderstood me, I'm not stupid :)

I obviously know that, but I'm saying you don't necessarily know why it takes that shape!

Because Phoenix is a bird?

I think that Jean should at least be coverd in flames, like right before she "died" in X2. We better get something like that, if not a full blown fire bird.

I always belived that Jean's fire was a psychic representation of her power and it took the form of a phoenix because it is how she best felt represented herself. However I have a question, does her fire burn? If it's just a telepathic thing, like an illusion, then it shouldn't hurt but i remember in the comics people were affected by it so how's that done. Is it a mixture of telepathy and telekenisis and she is using telepathy to give it the appearcane of fire and the sensation of burning and telekenisis to cause the physical destruction or am I totally wrong?
