Pirates of the Caribbean 5 - Part 1

I think Disney is worried about it. Not that this will be a Lone Ranger/John Carter type flop but I think that this will take a loss, and I think Disney thinks the same thing

They also were probably waiting for Depp legal issues to blow over. I know they settled last week but still

Well even the last one which is considered the worst of the series still made $1B.

I mean it could be totally Alice 2.

It'd be ironic if they focused more on Will. Problem is Jack is the main appeal so you run into all sorts of problems. The Depp thing is just complicated now. I'll still see it... if it's really any good though. It ain't the studio and filmmakers fault that Depp beats women.

This is not like Disney. The movie is 9 months away, and we only have one official picture. That's it.

I'm sure a lot of it might have to do with the ****storm surrounding Depp's divorce in the news lately, but this isn't too out of the ordinary for Disney. After all, Beauty and the Beast is coming out in March and all we have is a brief teaser that doesn't really show much and no official stills. I even remember back in the day, they didn't release a trailer for At World's End until maybe two months before it opened.

Yeah it won't be a John Carter situation. The issue is the budget. This film probably cost more than 350mil (without marketing) They are never cheap.I can see this not reaching 200 mil domestic. I like the series and if this is the last one, I hope they go out with a bang.

So, any news about this movie? Teaser, pictures, anything?

There is going to be a prequel novel.

The fifth entry in the blockbuster Disney franchise, which reaped $3.7 billion in worldwide box office, has been given a new name in France — Pirates of the Caribbean: The Revenge of Salazar. US actor De La Torre, lead singer of the band De La Torre, plays the young Jack Sparrow.

If Disney really is finding this movie to be a problem, then why the hell did they greenlit this instead of that Haunted Mansion reboot that Guillermo del Toro's trying to get off the ground? Cause people seem more interested in that than another potential Johnny Depp flop.

Well, I just found out David Wenham's going to be in it. He was in Lord of the Rings as Faramir, 300 as Dilios, and Van Helsing as Carl. I like his work so I'll be interested to see what he does here.

Wow, this came unexpected. I am ready for the trailer!

Depp, Bloom and Rush finally together again. I am instantly sent 10 years back in time :)

Teaser on TV? So we will get 1 minute then. I guess it's something.

I don't care what people say about this series, it's one of my favorites. The first 3 are great in my opinion and I really enjoyed them (even when things got complicated and long). The 4th one is pretty fun as well. I'm excited to see this teaser. Had no clue it was coming so soon

Oh I agree on the first 3, love them, I think 3 especially is really under rated. Hoping the 5th gets back to the fun of the first 3.

POTC films are a guilty pleasure of mine I love em all even the 4th one looking forward to this 5th one as long as Depp and Rush are on board I will be there.

I agree always loved these films. Especially when it was just the trilogy. Great fun theater experiences with them. 4th was alright nothing great but nothing horrible either. Excited for this one! I like that poster. Can't wait to see the teaser.

Funny enough, I liked 4 up until Blackbeard showed up. He was underwhelming after Jones and Beckett.

You listen to the commentaries for 2 and 3, the sheer amount of enthusiasm from the screenwriters is unbelievable.

Pirates was the franchise I was obsessed with the most until Marvel came along. I've always liked the supernatural aspects of the franchise but one of the two things that kind of bugged me with the fourth was that Blackbeard had abilities, he was a real pirate he didn't need special powers. I also didn't like that it was landlocked, but the mermaids can come back, they were cool. I think I'll always stick around for the franchise.

I enjoyed the 4th movie on first viewing, every one since then it has got worse. And Blackbeard was a big step down from Barbosa, Davey Jones and Beckett. Shame as they got a great actor for him.

But the first 3 I still absolutely love.

I've only seen 4 once. Yeah Blackbeard was a downgrade compared to what we got prior. But the trilogy I love.
