Wow, just wow, you couldnt even bother AT LEAST bringing back Klaus Badelt?
Sigh, whatever...

Zanelli provided 'additional music' for all the previous POTC films, why the complaints? He's familiar with Zimmer's style and a composer Bruckheimer is comfortable with.

I think Zimmer is getting tired of scoring franchises as a whole.

Just two hundred pounds for Jack? That's an insult. :cmad:

Looks like the series is getting back to the epic form that the fourth one abandoned. But I could only understand one or two words that Salazar said. Whoever thought it was a good idea to put that black Penguine sludge in his mouth needs to be smacked.

He's also working on Nolan's film Dunkirk.

I seriously thought this movie was cancelled until today.

The one thing I took away from this trailer is that at least Bardem looks like a more interesting villain than McShane's unfortunately wasted Blackbeard.

There were some beautiful shots in this small teaser.

She's not the main character. Jack is (and Will was to a degree).
Elizabeth is the main character of the first film and the first trilogy. The writer's said it and it is framed around her (the series opens and closes on her). Which is the exact problem with the sequels. The studio continually trying to push drunk Han Solo as the main character. Hence the diminishing returns.

Dat villainous, unsettling Bardem.

Jack does have some problems as the main protagonist; I think he can work as the main character and main attraction, but whatever character growth he has should be small but dramatically produced, as compared to the more constant and subtle transformation most protagonists go through. Jack clearly had an arc in the original trilogy, but nowhere near as omnipresent as the progress of Will and Elizabeth. Plus, the two more normal characters offered the audience a way to gauge just how over the top events were. Jack was clearly more non-plus see by Blackbeard's Magic than anything else.

"Henry", even if he is Will's son, offers an excellent oppurtunity to continue the Holy **** factor during the supernatural sequences. He just needs to be a bigger character than Phillip was in OST. And Geoffrey Rush is still n board, which is great, honestly, I kind of like Barbossa more than Jack.

And I'm loving everything about Salazzar so far. His design seems to tell the story of a an honored military commander and decorated pirate hunter drowned thanks to Jack's actions, which does a nice job of changing up the dynamic for the bad guy. Unlike Beckett and Barbossa, Salazzar's main goal is centered on Jack first and foremost, and may be far more personal than Davy Jones pursuit. He's clearly pushing the conflict, and may have a real, sympathetic reason to despise Jack.

Meh, strange that they didn't show any footage of the franchise main character.

Aside from most people being over that character like at least 5+ years ago, this past year alone has seen some of the worst PR for Depp personally.

I have a feeling they are going to try to sell this film around Depp as opposed to him being front and center.

God damn, Bardem looked messed up. I may very well give this a shot.

My biggest take away from that trailer is that FRICKIN HANS ZIMMER ISNT DOING THE SCORE???? ********.
Okay maybe the new guy isnt that bad, lets see...Geoff Zanelli....ok, doesnt sound familiar, maybe he's done good stu--
>Hitman, Mortdecai, Gamer, Scorpion King 2

Zanelli worked on The Pacific as well.

He barely even tried with OST so him not returning is a damn good thing. I love Zimmer's AWE score. It's one of my favorite scores. But his heart clearly wasn't in OST and this franchise could definitely use a new a take on old themes. They should have hired someone like Alexander Desplat. Someone that would actually do something different. Klaus and Zimmer would just beat the same dead horse a fifth time. Zanelli having worked with Zimmer will likely do the same.

My level of surprise at there being no Depp in the teaser is mild at best. His "star power" isn't putting asses in the seats anymore and his personal life has been a mess lately. They got pirates stuff and Bardem being freaky as hell. I say good teaser.
