Finally got around to seeing it today.
I wasn't disappointed, but I wasn't blown away by it. I'd rank it as slightly better than 2 and 3, but it dragged on at times. It definitely felt longer than 2 hours and 20 minutes. The best parts for me were the London opening scenes and the mermaid attack.
It was nice to see Jack front and center after he was practically buried in all the commotion in At World's End. He didn't have as many memorable lines as in the previous films, but Depp gave an enjoyable performance as always. He seemed to have toned it down a little compared to the last two (Dead Man's Chest especially. Jack was like a cartoon in that one), which wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
Geoffrey Rush stood out to me among the cast, just as he did in At World's End. I hope he gets a bigger role in the sequel. I'm sure he will. He's the Daffy Duck to Jack Sparrow's Bugs Bunny.
Blackbeard was sort of underwhelming. His introduction was badass (burning the cook in the boat with the flamethrower), but he never really reached full potential as a villain to me. His beard was only lit for one scene too.

If anything was memorable about him,[BLACKOUT] it was his death scene. Quite gory for a Disney film.[/BLACKOUT]
As for the other new characters, Penelope Cruz did a good job in the role of Angelica. I'm sure her role in these movies is far from over. I didn't care too much for the missionary and the mermaid storyline, as gorgeous as she was. It didn't really go anywhere.
Surprisingly, I didn't really miss anyone from the first three. Maybe I would have preferred Pintel and Ragetti to the new crew, but whatever...[BLACKOUT]it's just chilling to think that the old Black Pearl crew is all dead thanks to Blackbeard. Save for the undead Jack the monkey, of course. [/BLACKOUT]Speaking of which, was it just me or did Blackbeard's ship look an awful lot like the Black Pearl?
I guess my only major complaint is that I would have much rather have had it as a stand-alone story but they still have loose ends to tie up [BLACKOUT](the Pearl being trapped in the bottle, Angelica marooned on the island with Jack's voodoo doll) [/BLACKOUT]. I'm down for more, but I don't think the franchise should go on longer than six or seven films. I feel like they need to find new ways to keep it fresh. I'm open to the idea of casting Russell Brand as Jack Sparrow's brother. Not everyone may be open to that, but it could make the overall story a bit more interesting. I'd also be interested if
they wait 15 or so years and focus on an older Jack Sparrow.
