I'm still cautious, but the trailer did look interesting.

Were those some Will and Elizabeth wannabes I spotted?

"Did everyone see that? Because I will naught be doin' it again!"

Haha, these movies have their flaws but I just love this series! This one looks amazing and mostly, I'm glad we've got a new adventure going that doesn't involve Will and Elizabeth. And this is a stand alone adventure so it's definitely more like the first than the last two.

I like Barbosa's new look, it appears that he has since lost a leg since At World's End!

You could call this one the Adventures of Han Solo.

I don't think this will live up to the first, but I definitely think it can be better than the second and third.

I like that one normal looking dude in the trailer who's face you see a few times. He seems to be the "straight man."

^ Are you saying you like straight men?

I'm just kidding...don't feed me to the Kraken. :funny:

Trailer looks awesome by the way. I loved the editing of the intro bits, and for some reason, I found Johnny's prolonged scream very funny. I wonder what it's all about. LOL. :woot:

What would that matter if he's just some random guy who shows up in a few scenes? Unless he has a big part in the film his strategy of being the straight guy won't matter to the film.

Barbosa has some quips from time to time but I've always considered him the straight man, Jack's foil.

Are you referring to the Will wannabe? It seems like they decided to just rehash Will and Elizabeth instead of coming up with new characters. Notice the girl he appears to be rescuing in one scene.

Thought the trailer looked great. Definitely looking forward to this one.

And Penelope Cruz...ay mami.

Yep. When those two kept popping up it completely ruined the trailer cuz that's what I was thinking the whole time.

"There should be a Captain in there somewhere."

And hot mermaids.

They should name Will 2.0 Chill. So then Jack is reminded of Will & then he tells Chill what happened to Will & Elizabeth & then Chill just leaves :woot:

Looks pretty good. Still not as good as the original film, but it is nice to see the plot being another fun adventure and not some would-be epic. And the mermaids look really cool in how they're kind of aquatic sirens. Penelope Cruz is a fine addition, but I do think they're trying too hard to push a romance between her and Jack (at least from the trailer). Jack has never struck me as a romantic lead--albeit, I thought it was hilarious his trying to seduce Elizabeth in the previous films (though out of character for her to consider the advances in the sequels).

But it looks like fun, light entertainment that just might work. If only we could pretend the third Pirates never happened, but then we couldn't explain how Jack came back from the dead, would we? :oldrazz: Too bad, I guess.

Actually I think the girl that Will 2.0 was trying to "rescue" was one of the mermaids. Could be wrong though. I think it's misdirection on the trailer's part.

So when everyone dies they go to Davy Jones locker and can be rescued?!

Jack Sparrow is this generation's answer to Indiana Jones. I only wonder if Johnny boy will still be playing Jack 20 years from now...

If that's the case then Will 2.0 still might try to get it on with a mermaid. I doubt they got a pretty boy so they would avoid another lovey dovey romance. And no, I don't think Jack's thing with Penelope Cruz would satisfy that requirement.

i meant more tone.

the reason they dont have a lot of CGI inside is that Bruckheimer is smart to safe money. its not that he wants to make it like the first. he wants to safe money.
You mean save money.

maybe the mermaid is just using the wanabe will.

That's actually completely what I expect. In the shot where she's trapped she seems naked, and I think there's a shot of her kissing him and pulling him underwater. I can't explain the shot of her with a shirt on, but I'm still convinced she's a mermaid, or some sort of hybrid.
