Days of Future Past Plot Holes in the X-Men Saga...

First Class is a vague prequel to Singer's X-Men movies just like Superman Returns was a vague sequel to Donner's Superman movies.

This has always been my assumation.It more of less fits with Singer's films however certain things will probally not fit 100 percent like how Xavier mentions when he met Magneto and while we don't know yet If there will really be a class here but we should expect them not to hold to the Cyclops,Jean,and Storm were some of my first students
line.

X-Men first Class I believe could almost be seen as part 1 of a trilogy with X-Men and X2.Just as Superman Returns could be seen as final part of trilogy with Superman and Donner's cut of Superman II.

Best to Ignore X-Men Origins;Wolverine.While First Class might also be seen as vague sequel to The Last Stand by know most know that I feel Inless Bryan Singer says otherwise Last Stand like Wolverine should be Ignored.They are trying to do a Star Trek/Casino Royale job here but Instead of alternate reality or throwing out everything trying to keep some contunity.Plus If a First Class sequel happens they are free to have Introductions to Cyclops and jean Grey as teenagers without being handcuffed by what was done In last Stand and Wolverine.

This Is not a reboot.1:Bryan Singer would not be Involved In throwing out his own films.
2:The marketing Is entirely trying to connect to earlier films and 3:The lineup In this
film would be much different for a reboot.This Is Lineup for prequel.

It's come to my attention from other posters in this thread, that the continuity will only be in line with X1 and X2. X3 was not directed by Singer, but by Brett Ratner. Singer was busy with Superman Returns, so he didn't have any creative control over X3. However, he's a producer on First Class, and it looks like he and Matthew Vaughn are ignoring JUST the movies Brian wasn't involved with.

I always felt off all the plot holes in this sage, that the Sabretooth one is the easiest to fix for the simple fact that Singer hinted at it a couple times in X1 that Sabretooth might have had the faintest notion that he remembered Wolverine but that he obviously wasn't sure. Not to mention Origins Sabretooth wanted to be superior to Logan so he might have done some kind of operation that made him more feral and less human like.

Just cuse he didn't talk doesn't make him dumb, the same goes for saying he was smart.Obviously there were a couple instances were he came across dumb but those were also scenes in which he was with Magneto, so i dont think he could upstage Magneto .

Sabretooth in x1 wasn't very fleshed out so we can't assume anything especially since Singer supposedley was going to bring him back for x2 but than scrapped that and was planning on bringing him back for x3, since i remember hearing Singer met with Mane.


I really liked the Sabretooth from x1, felt way more intimidating and meancing than the Sabretooth from Origins and thats mainly because Hugh Jackman was bigger than Schriebers Sabretooth , while Mane almost towered over Jackman.

Not saying Mane is a better actor than Scrieber but i liked his Sabretooth more.

All Singer had to with Mane's Sabretooth was give they guy a few more lines in the same scenes...it wouldn't break the bank. Instead we get some biker-dude that followers orders like some dumb muscle and growls as a response. Even Toad got more things to say than him.

And thinking about the first fight in X1 between him and Wolverine, that would have been a good opportunity find out why he's in the middle of nowhere fighting Wolverine. Say something Sabretooth, say something!

why do people say its going to be vague prequel - i see no evidence so far that all of the four movies so far, and including what we know and have seen of first class. That it all doesnt directly fit together.

Forget the comics for the moment, all the characters have reasonable explination and so far fall in line.The only difference is that this movie universe is different from the comic universe. Like Havok being older than Cyclops... but then this is the movie universe and everything can be different.

The X-Men franchise is the most "make it up as you go along" of all the superhero franchises. There's no point in discussing plot holes....the movies don't connect... that's all there is to it. Also, it's going to get worse because I'm sure X-Men First Class is going to create more plot discrepancies ... and Darren Aronofsky's "The Wolverine" is supposedly going to be a stand-alone film with no ties to any other X-Men brand film.

So all well.

I think the Sabertooth issue with Origins and X1 can be explained that Sabertooth embraced his "animal" side, which is the opposite with logan (the emphasize in origins of wolverine being a man not an animal).

Perhaps he forgot Wolverine was related to him in X1 since he seemed to act more like an animal...however he still had a weird fascination for wolverine in X1.

The issue between Logan's visions in X1 and X2 and what we saw in Origins can be explained. Sometimes when people dream of the past, the "flashback" is not 100% accurate. That could explain the discrepancies.

Seems pretty obvious that Sabertooth devolved as he evolved in this franchise. An angle I really like. Sort of the opposite of what appears to be happening with Beast.
