I'm with Earle and Micah. No Poison Ivy. I'm sorry it would just get so watered down if Nolan did it because it just wouldn't fit what he's decided on.

Because Nolan is the only one who'll be making Bat-movies in the future.:whatever:

I think Poison Ivy can be portrayed in a Batman movie without the giant/mutant plants.

She doesn't need to have a freak accident with chemical, she doesn't need the mutant plants.

I never even came close to implying this. You'll notice that this thread is in a section entitles "The Dark Knight Sequel" which implies a sequel in Nolan's movies so I did my best to make my post relevant. So no need to be snarky. I'm actually looking forward to the next series of bat films to see what the director offers.

I suppose, what do you suggest instead? I am personally apprehensive about taking away so much from the character.

I think Nolan could bring Ivy into his vision with success....minus the giant mobile plants and green skin.
Here's a small concept I haven't really thought out in depth...would love to see someone dig the idea and run with it:

Career: Biochemist with a focus in botanical biochemistry. Maybe works for a pharm or cosmetic company.

In keeping with Nolan's "realistic" vision, Ivy could be a poison eater...which is a very real activity that's existed in just about every culture and time period, including today in america. Ex:Bill Haast has injected himself with snake venom for decades and has built up an amazing tolerance to many venoms that would easily kill the average healthy adult.

By eating/injecting/*****ing (HA!) with increasing amounts of various toxins, Ivy could certainly kill with poisoned lipstick or perhaps even her own body fluids.
As for her love of plants, there is a sexual attraction some people (albeit very few people have) to plants where they are only able to become aroused when plants or trees are involved...The name of this paraphilia escapes me but I think it's Chlorophilia...it's not always sexual but more often than not is.

I read a book called The Science of Super Villains which had an entire chapter dedicated to the vixen of vines and I seem to remember something being said about photosynthesis taking place in the eyes. Here's a link which discusses this somewhat...but not so much from a scientific POV:

So perhaps Ivy isn't too unrealistic for Nolan's Batman world.

Opinions? Flames? Raves? Rants?

I think the Chlorophilia bit was actually pretty interesting, I had never heard of that and it does add a very Nolan-esque twist to the character.

Lena Headey

I was watching Sky High the other day (a guilty pleasure I like to watch with my kids) and I wonder what it would be like to see Danielle Panabaker in the role. seems like it would make more sense to have someone younger in the role since she was a College student when Woodrue changed her.

Danielle Panabaker would be pretty good for a younger version of Ivy!

I played around a little bit with the Carla Gugino poster from Sucker Punch:

Never thought I'd see the day where I'm admitting for my desire to f**k a plant. :(

When TDK came out, I had an approach for Ivy which was very very similiar to this one, though I think mine strayed a little too far into unreality than yours has.

My idea was pretty much identical; injecting various poisons, compounds, venoms, "potions" (which Ivy herself is working on perfecting, being a serious and highly talented biochemist) into herself, gaining certain skills from said injections; resiliance to poisons and toxins, a poisonous touch, etc. Though after a while of constantly pumping foreign chemicals into her body, the process begins to take it's toll on Isley, and start to slowly close her down; paling of the skin, visable veins under the skin, etc (all of which designed to give her a more traditional "Ivy" look, but without actual use of greenery, ie; veins under the skin appearing in vine-like patterns, etc) until eventually it turns out to be her downfall.

I had a scene thought out where Ivy attacks some sort of political gathering with a poisonous gas, which has terrible affects on the various people attending, apart from Ivy of course who is, by now, highly immune to said gas. She waltzes in, stepping past hundreds of people who are all writhing in pain on the ground around her, only to step up to the podium on the stage, take her target in her arms and delivers him a final lethal dose.

I hadn't really thought about it thoroughly, just a few images in my head, so the man she targets in the end could be the CEO of a major company which is reposinble for a lot of toxic waste, emissions, etc.

They could use the poison ivy version from her first appearance in the animated series, that can be done well on screen.

I really like this manip! I would be more than happy with this! I would prefer Ivy to be a more mature woman of intelligence and sexuality than some twinky lolita type. Nice!

Melinda Clarke is a good option, look this site:

Bye

I think Kelly Reilly would be a great Poison Ivy, great actress as well.

:funny: Just noticed after all this time that Mandy Moore is on the poll!
