The Gifted POLARIS the Magnetic Mutant - The Emma Dumont Thread

They don't need to Bethe X-Men or the Brotherhood or a superhero team to wear flashy or flattering costumes.

Tell that to Days of Future Past and every comic book that featured costumes.

This isn't Heroes. ...

You're right, this isn't Heroes, but in fact the original concept that show merely made echoes of. This isn't a comic book either, it's a television series. If it was, NiX has sighted only District X so far as inspiration, TMK. And has every comic that featured costumes, been about running for your lives & fighting for survival, tho?

... Put these characters into their cb costume (that aren't cheap looking) there could be more anticipation to this

Only for a segment of the hardcore base, I think, not sure the draw's as great -- or make or break -- for the much larger casual fan and/or GA viewership. It may not be a factor at all, for many, and even a turn-off for some. Different strokes for different folks, and all that.

They don't need to Bethe X-Men or the Brotherhood or a superhero team to wear flashy or flattering costumes.

Wouldn't that draw attention to them, tho? Which I think they'd be trying to avoid, considerin' they're in hiding & all. At first, anyway, 'til the flight stops... and the fighting back begins! :wowe:

Polaris's X-Factor costume that Dumont's shirt had could make a good costume - in a Grant Morrison New X-Men way. They could find old X-Men costumes and wear some lowkey X-gear.

I could see that workin':

... and think the old costume thing in particular, would be pretty cool, actually. Only updated, maybe, to somethin' similar to these:

With a government trying to hunt them down and kill them? I would say so, that is why I said only when they decide to stop hiding and fight does not dressing up as something that could pass in a bar make sense.

You're putting too much thought in defending generic clothing.

The Gifted releases an official Polaris case files.

Good thing, we won't wait long for her to get that green hair, though her hair should have been like that from the start.

Not if she's dyeing it. Ya know, kinda just like when she was first introduced in the comics, WAY back then:

I've read some fan speculation online, that after she's captured, they shave her head & it regrows back in its natural color. I still think some major, onscreen exertion of her powers in adulthood, might be the catalyst for her physical appearance mutating here tho. Same with Blink, and some of the others, I X-pect.

You can probably bet they will throw out little hints about Magneto but they probably won't straight up ever mention him or talk about him.

Reason being is that if you talk about it too much then audiences will start to expect him to appear at some point and i doubt they have thought that far ahead.

I fully expect Magneto to come up this season along with the X-Men, but I also believe its most likely they will go the presumed killed angle so the character won't be expected to go out looking for him and other such expectations will be reduced as well.

Why is it that mutants are being hunted by Sentinels and interned with no X-Men or Magneto around to help?

They know that is a big one to answer that will be on casual fans minds and it sounds like they are going to answer it in season 1 to some extent and in doing so they can establish her parentage relatively early in the show without the audience being left to expect Magneto to suddenly appear.

Casual fans would be more incredulous that Magneto would let the government round up and finish off mutants with death robots and internment centers then they would be him mastering the art of absent parentage which he has done very well in the comics.

If this really is leading up to DOFP, the X-Men and brotherhood would either be fending off hordes of robots
OR most of them have already been captured and being tested.

I find it hard to believe this would be leading to DOFP because there is no win for this show if thats the case.

I suspect they created this whole not knowing if the X-Men and brotherhood exist anymore for a reason and i wouldn't be surprised if it lasts more than 1 season worth of mystery.

its probably gonna be each season final is gonna bring the answer closer and closer.

At 1:20 Eclipse makes a comment in that regard.

I would expect if there was big battles going on they would know about it as they have been hiding for some time.

Your second comment makes more sense that they have been wiped out and either put in camps or killed.

Given that even Emma herself has not been at all shy about referencing Lorna's connection to Magneto (she even said that Lorna is "very much daddy's girl," I do expect it to be mentioned on the show.

There's too much potential for drama there not to. I could see it potentially being played up as a reveal later on. Like the other characters on the show don't know that Magneto is her father right away.

I assumed the "very much a daddy's girl" was just another way of saying she is very much like him and from the trailers i can actually see it.

It reminds me of the first season of Supergirl where they kept mentioning and teasing superman till it got a little silly and the producers knew they had to actually show and not tell.

The showrunner in the TV Guides the masses are reading about the show if they weren't planning on some kind of revel wouldn't be hitting the 'what are we going to do' in regard to Magneto button on the topic quite so early if I think they weren't going to near end the revel instead of rear ending it at the end of the season or in future seasons.

Of course my own personal assumption is what they do with Magneto won't require a living Magneto running around in the background. They are going to have to deal with the whole why aren't the X-Men and Brotherhood running around stopping the Sentinel Services.

Its pretty clear they are on their own here and there will be no carvery coming to save them which lends itself to an answer that it involves something happened that rendered them a state to leave the audience not expecting to see many members of the Brotherhood or X-Men appearing. How they do it exactly I don't know, but its not very hard to have a parentage revel in a universe where we have no Brotherhood or X-Men and find out why.
