The Dark Knight Popularity

I think a lot of you guys got to remember that one of the reasons Batman Begins didn't do as well as Spider-Man, for instance, is just because Spider-Man 2 had Spider-Man to rely on for popularity (it had Spider-Man 1's following), and Spider-Man 1 had a clean slate where as Batman Begins had Batman and Robin to fall back on and plus, many people, even today, still believe that Batman Begins is a prequel to the old Batman movies, Batman and Robin included.

I think the Joker alone will bring in a lot more viewers. I think it's something that the advertisement team will bank on (the Joker will be mysterious in the trailers, you'll probably never see his face, you'll probably hear his laugh and see his shadow, etc).

Your right mcflytrap, he says "#1 guy" if you watch it with closed caption on you can see and hear it, just sounds funny cause hes impersonating Grissom.

Adjusted, 251 million in 1989 is equal to 400 million today. B89's Hype and reception were extremely Spider-Man-like back in '89. At least, that's what I've been told. :o

I vaguely remember the hype for Batman 1989, but it was definately Spider-Man like. Maybe even more so, simply because there were less films being made back then there there was now, or in 2002. Actually, I consider Batman 1989 to be one of the best marketed films of all time.

god how i wish that were true!!!
i'm sick of record breaking Spidey!!!
it's time for Batman to be top dog!!
or top-bat.
or marsupial.
