I was bored beyond belief, as it was just too over-dramatic. Only part of the movie I liked was when Fassbender gets angry on the private plane. He nailed that scene.

So you didn't like the movie because it was too overdramatic...and you only liked the most overdramatic sequence in the movie?

I don't think you understand what the word over-dramatic means. Keyword "Over".

Fassbender's acting in that scene wasn't hammed up or OVERLY done. I can't say the same for the rest of the film.

Actually I do. But you didn't say hammed-up (an assertion about DOFP I'm not going to touch with a ten foot clown pole). You said "overdramatic".

If flipping a plane over while you're yelling isn't overdramatic, I don't know what is.

If the scene demands such a reaction, can it be deemed over dramatic? It would be appropriately dramatic.

Over dramatic would be a man literally saying he can't breath and acting out the part of choking on airlessness upon learning that a woman wants to sleep with him.

Don't ask. It's a Korean drama I am watching.

My bad. I meant to use the word "overly-dramatic" instead of "overdramatic".

Now please, let's move on from another attempted argument dissection.

I was more or less referring to the overall tone of the movie.

This thread is for reviews of the FF movie......

Just came back from seeing it, a 6.5 or 7/10 for me. Definitely not deserving of a 9% on rotten, that's Catwoman and B&R territory which isn't where this movie belongs.

The first two acts are fun, suspenseful , and energetically thrilling. The sci-fi horror elements are there, but don't make this movie too serious,at least the way the film was edited. There is plenty of chemistry between the main cast and they have lots of screen time together before they get their powers. I just feel like a lot of the meat in this movie was cut out. This is a movie with the potential to be something really good, and it just never reaches it. But it isn't abysmally awful either. Loved the look of each hero, and the Thing looked terrific. I definitely have to say some of the best cinematography was cut out of the film (scenes from Human Torch and Thing in the trailers) which baffles me. And you can definitely feel the tension between Trank and the studio through the pacing of this movie, and just the way it was edited. All in all, I'm happy to answer questions. But I don't think this movie is bad. It's your average origin story, with a definite sub-par third act. It does however open things up for a sequel in the last 5 minutes of the sequel though given
Doom get's the red skull treatment, seemly appears to get obliterated through a portal, but could make way for him returning and with a potentially different appearance? And the team get's their base of operations which reminded me of the ending to AoU which Cap and his team.

The cast did a damn fine job with what they were given to work with, I have no negatives to hand out to the Fantastic 4 themselves. I still don't understand the hate Mara and her character are receiving, in some scenes it appears they are gonna dive into her character but nope, feels like it gets cut out. Most, if not all all them feel like they have a lot of scenes cut that could have enhanced the movie. I definitely would want to see a extended edition of this movie. Heading home from this movie, I just don't get all the hate this movie has received and if I were Fox I'd screw the critics and make a sequel. The audience ratings are where i expect this movie to average out at 3 of 5 stars. We'll see how this performs in the BO here in the states and internationally, but I gotta say, there's so much potential for a sequel.

I'm going to try and make this as concise as possible. I just returned from the theater, and I have work tomorrow and need to go to sleep, but I want to type up a review while I really sit and chew on what I just witnessed.
It wasn't a good movie, let me make that clear. If this were 2005 where movies like Daredevil and X3 were raking in the big bucks, this would go down as another stinker for Fox, but it'd probably make it's money back quite comfortably and spawn a sequel. We live in a time where the game has been changed, the stakes have been raised, and we know the potential that these properties have.
I've expressed this elsewhere, but I think that Trank's original vision would, at the very least, be far more interesting than the final product. As it stands, the movie I just saw is bereft of any identity, any personality, because it doesn't quite know what it wants to be. It's so clearly cobbled together, the tone shifts so drastically in trying to please so many different people at once, that the final product is so diluted and bland that I don't see it pleasing anyone. There are a few moments where it's outright terrible, but overall I was actually surprised with how much I was enjoying certain ideas. None of them were explored in a satisfying way, there was no tangible theme, but there was something in here that could have worked in different hands.
The debate will probably rage on for quite some time as to who is to blame for this. It's easy to blame Trank, and I'm sure he did something to warrant Fox stepping in and fixing his movie in post, but as I said, I'm sure his take would have made for a better viewing experience than what I just saw. I have my doubts as to whether or not it would have made for a better film, but I certainly think it would at least have an identity of some kind. There would have been something of note, something worth watching, but as it stands, everything just washed over me until the climactic ending where it collapses in on itself.
It's not a movie I think I'll ever see again, and I wouldn't recommend anyone go see it. But if Trank's cut were to ever see the light of day, or a book/article was written that would explain what happened with this production, I'd be pretty interested just to take a peek behind the curtain and see what brought us to this point.

I agree with those saying it turned bad after "1 YEAR LATER".
But overall I still enjoyed watching the movie...
Dr Doom was wasted at the end

And the movie ended with the same gag as Age Of Ultron

I fell asleep twice during the movie. My 7 year old enjoyed it, no end credit scene. My kids both know "you never leave a marvel movie before the credits end". They watched AntMan the night before and loved it. I'm not a big FF fan, however how could Fox get Doom wrong not once, but 3 times? At least the last Doom kinda looked the part.

The movie started out well I thought and then all the sudden boom now the team is fighting Doom? Now I was sleeping when they went back in and retrieved Doom so i dont know what happened in that 10 minute window. All in all, I would not watch the movie again because the 2nd half IMO was terrible.

Just saw it.

I get the issues and pretty much agree with the critics. The first half is solid. The character development and the story leading up to them going to 'Planet Zero' was pretty engaging.

Once they get their powers, the movie just goes all over the place for the sake of simply getting to the final battle which again was ultimately 'meh'.

...Having said that, I do not agree with the 9% consensus nor do I think it's anywhere near the garbage that was Electra, Catwoman and Ghost Rider. I actually thought it had just enough redeeming qualities to consider it an okay if not 'good' reboot.

The elements of a good movie are there but it falls apart in the 2nd half. There's a very solid beginning and a very mediocre end to this movie. A solid second act could've very well saved this movie.

But again, IMO, it's not the trainwreck it's made out to be. And I will say this, it's better than the Jessica Alba versions which granted isn't saying much but at the bare minimum, that was on my checklist.

6/10

Also....Johnny Storm hilariously driving the car that he was driving and he was supposed to be some super mechanic? Yet he chose that complete pile of **** of a vehicle? Dr. Richards makes him work to get his car back? A damn old MR2? The race scene was straight out of 2 fast 2 furious minus the nitrous.

Not my review, but this is the most detailed and insightful one I've seen yet.
Midnight's Edge has previously covered the production in great detail, here is their review, with heavy focus on the reshoots!

I thought we were supposed to get a shot of them in their classic uniforms...did I miss that because..I don't recall us getting that at any point in the movie.

Ok, the film was fantastic. I absolutely loved the part when:

At a surprise birthday party for Johnny, , a previously unseen friend of Sue and Reed's, catches Sue kissing Reed while the rest of the guests are outside and confronts her about the affair. Sue expresses no remorse, while Reed angrily urges Ben not to tell anyone. Victor announces to the guests that he and Sue are expecting a child, only for Sue to tell Ben and Johnny that she lied about it in order to "make it interesting". At the end of the evening, Sue flaunts her affair in front of Victor, who physically attacks Reed.

Victor locks himself in the bathroom, prompting Sue to make plans to leave him for Reed. Victor finally comes out of the bathroom and retrieves the cassette recorder he attached to the phone, and listens to an intimate call between Sue and Reed. Claiming that all of his friends have betrayed him, Victor destroys his apartment and then kills himself with the pistol earlier recovered from the phantom zone. Ben, Reed and Sue discover Victor's body sometime later. Johnny and Ben blame Sue for Victor's death, with Reed declaring he does not love Sue and never wants to see her again. Johnny asks Sue and Reed to leave, but they stay and comfort one another as the sound of the approaching sirens grew louder.

FOX better get my money!

There were no classic uniforms. They lied to get our butts in seats for the opening weekend.

I'll post a more spoiler review later, but for now, let's see....where to start? .....oh yeah! It sucks!

Whoever said this movie is two movies, one that Trank wrote and one where the studio took over, is wrong. This is like 10 different films written and directed by 30 different people, and spliced together with duct tape and bailing wire. This is the freaking Chicken McNuggets of movie making. At one point we are taken from a movie that feels like Intersteller, and cut to a scene that's the next installment of Fast and Furious.

Let me just say this, I don't think I've seen a cast before that were this disinterested in making a film. There was zero chemistry between any of the actors, and there was even less reason for any of these characters to be working together.

Here's a freaking tip for the writers of the film. When you have a character whose name is the Invisible Woman, how about instead of having her talk about how she likes to listen to music, that you actually show her turning invisible more than once on a table.

That's the freaking joke of this movie, that the Thing has a better scene turning invisible than Sue Storm!

The only part of this film I found the least bit interesting was the first 5 minutes. Other than that, this movie is a predictable steaming pile of Bantha PooDoo!

I could go on,but it's late and I'm tired.

0/10

I would be happy to see a sequel because there's enough good elements there to go that route. Be happy if it went to Marvel and Marvel kept this cast together because they work well, well except for Sue Storm who I didn't really like whenever she was on screen. Miles Teller you have to hand it to that guy he always brings a great performance.

:whatever:

That's why DOFP is critically acclaimed right?

91% RT score http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/x_men_days_of_future_past/

8.1 IMDb rating http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1877832/

Better than most comic book movies, yeah, what a mess.

Back on topic, like others have said, it's a shame the final act ruins what could've been a good movie, now the box office will decide the fate of the franchise.

The final act had all the elements there but it didn't flow, wasn't long enough, and should have been played out on earth where more innocent people were dying. When Doom was basically blowing skulls out that was the right sci-fi horror element that F4 is about. Had that continued to escalate in the final act that would have probably completely changed opinions on the movie.

I would give this movie a 2.5 out of 5 stars, it's pretty harmless movie but you could see this as a missed opportunity because the movie ends so swiftly. When Dr. Doom begins to create havoc and the superhero fight begins, that's when the movie became more "Meh" and generic but everything before that I was very into it, you can break it into 3 parts: The young rebels of science, the government's Ultimates and then the last 10 minutes of Dr. Doom fight scene.

You can also really easil tell which scene was added in the reshoot by simply looking at is anyone wearing a wig hahah.

I really enjoyed seeing Richard's tale from a young kid at 2007 to becoming the scientist in 2014, especially the geekyness he brings with it with his awful selfie and horrible attempts at acquiring Sue's interest. Victor was also pretty nice, I especially liked him giving the middle finger to everyone but I couldn't help but to think why didn't he just want to overthrow America but they went with the generic "I'm going to destroy the whole darn world" really Victor, all you needed to do was burn America and create New Latveria from it's ashes! ;) I think Ben Grimm had the most interesting story to tell on the 2nd act and I would have loved loved LOVED to learn more about Ben Grimm, he got the most interesting story there for sure.

Overall, it's not as bad as it's being said now but even me giving it a 2.5/5 rating is not good, but I would be lying to myself if I gave it a 3 or something. Missed opportunity.

My favourite scene:
Dr. Doom going all Cronenberg Scanners and wreaking havoc
Absolutely disgusting scene of cliché, major spoiler:
Dying Franklin Storm making sure the kids remember the promise right before he dies.

I would have loved if Doom brought his own flag with him and impaled it causing him to notice the energy.

I would have liked it if Doom wasn't an emo d-bag. "Reed you're acting unprofessional." Who in the **** approved this script?
