Power Rangers 4.0 - Part 1

Actually, they legally can't create there own, full ranger team.

They can get away with creating an individual, original ranger (like Titanium) and incorporate them into an adaptation, but they must adapt a sentai series.

Does this clause extend itself into Movies?

There isnt anything that says they cant create their own characters. Saban may have a deal with them to adapt Sentai for now but that could change but it doesn't extend to a movieverse or probably tv as long as they adapt the costumes and Zords.

Good, so that means that they could make their own rangers if they wanted to in the movies other than the usual MMPR.

Not a fan of the new Ranger suits. Also Ciara Hanna's looking great, as always.

The cast are about to fly out

Wow are they trying to copy Daigo's look for Brennan Mejia?

Cool man.

BTW Does anyone know what PR fans seem to have against Christina Masterson, Emma / Pink Ranger from PRM / PRSM.

Don't know, she's a fine girl. Why would anyone hate her? I think you're better off asking on Rangerboard.

The Super Megaforce cast is the most bubbly and interesting batch since forever imo...

I recently started a re-watch of Power Rangers Turbo, and the season has, so far, been better than I remember it being back when I watched it for the first time as it was airing. I've even found that many of the common criticisms leveled against the season's first 20 episodes aren't nearly as egregious as I remembered them being, and, in a few cases, they're not even all that problematic.

I have noticed a few issues in terms of clunkiness vis a vis certain situations that the characters find themselves in, but have hit on a workaround for said clunkiness that I intend to use should I ever watch the season again in the future, and, for now, said clunkiness isn't big enough of a deal to really drag down my overall positive opinion of the episodes I've watched (I'm up through The Millennium Message).

I still have a couple of episodes to go before I'm fully finished with it, but I'm officially prepared to state, unequivocally, that the PR fandom has severely undervalued just how good Turbo's first half actually is. Yes, there are a few clunky parts and there could've been a bit smoother of a transition from the conclusion of Zeo, but, overall, the season's first 20 episodes (counting the film) really aren't as poor as fandom opinion says that they are, and there's an awful lot to like about them.

Carol Hoyt does a very good job of carrying on from Hilary while also choosing to emphasize certain parts of Divatox's personality that Hilary didn't, Dimitria and Alpha 6 really are great characters, and there's a fairly smooth progression of events from the movie through Passing the Torch wherein we get to see the veteran Rangers starting to move on with their lives and get to know Justin's character better. We also get the arrival of the season's defacto 'Sixth Ranger' in the Blue Senturion and the establishment of the Millennium Message subplot, which, while not being resolved quite the way that it had been intended to be, still does have at least partial impact on the events leading up to and including the Rangers' 'passing of the torch' to TJ, Carlos, Ashley, and Cassie and does ultimately come to fruition at the end of Power Rangers in Space.

We also get some fairly decent utilization of the more comedic aspects of the Carranger source footage juxtaposed against some fairly serious and, at times, intense storytelling, with the "Honey, I Shrunk the Rangers" two-parter being the best example.

The first 20 episodes also weren't as adversely affected by the behind-the-scenes disarray as the prevailing fandom opinion says they were.

I liked PRT for very basic reasons: one, we got to see the return of unmorphed fights, which were much more violent (full contact) and we got to see the Rangers graduate from high school and embark on career goals too.

Turbo also set many things up for PRiS, which is my all-time favorite PR series and we got decent character development for T.J., Cassie, Carlos and Ashley.

I think Divatox goes down as being one of the best Top 10 villains in PR history. She definitely gets credit for destroying the Power Chamber and neutralizing the Rangers powers...

I really don't think Turbo is as bad as many remembered.

I mean, overall, it was a good series. Nothing groundbreaking, but it did a good job with the characters it had. Everyone had good development. And while dragging and suffering from too much filler at times, the story2lines were well developed, leading into the next season.

And yeah, it set up PRiS perfectly. From beginning to end, the seeds were being laid for it, and it was done very well. So much that I like to look at "Turbo" and "In Space" as a two-part deal; two sides of the same coin. And the lighter tone of Turbo perfectly counterbalances the darker tone and storylines of In Space.

The general fandom consensus has long been that Turbo's second half was excellent while the first half (including the movie) was poor, but, honestly, I found myself enjoying the first half as much as I remember enjoying the second. The movie, despite some logic holes, is a lot better, story-wise, than perception says it is, and the first half of the season itself has some great episodes in it, like Shift into Turbo, Shadow Rangers, Rally Ranger, The Whole Lie, Bicycle Built for the Blues, Glyph Hanger, Weight and See, The Millennium Message, Cars Attacks, Honey, I Shrunk the Rangers, and Passing the Torch.

Justin is a much better character than he gets credit for being, and his age really isn't the big issue that it's made out to be; he also ends up fitting in with Tommy, Adam, Tanya, and Kat better than perception indicates.

There's just basic elements I don't enjoy about Turbo at all. Why do they even need the Turbo powers? What's so cool about Divatox? Shes just some worthless pirate who likes to steal and plant bombs Why does she get to do more damage to the Rangers than Rita and Zedd or the Machine Empire? The whole car theme doesn't work for me at all either. Turbo just feels like a step down from the previous seasons and is just not something I like to revisit personally.

To follow Divatox to Muiranthius. This is more or less addressed via dialogue in the film.

She ultimately does what Rita, Zedd, and the Machine Empire couldn't because she's a better strategist, which comes with being a Pirate. She's also far from 'worthless'. Piracy was a dangerous profession historically, and they therefore had to be cunning, strategically-minded, and willing to do whatever it took to accomplish their goals. Divatox fits this mold to a T. She also has quite a bit in common with Lothor from Ninja Storm in that they're both severely undervalued as villains.

Turbo just feels like a step down from the previous seasons and is just not something I like to revisit personally.

To each their own.

The Zeo powers grow stronger over time though. Beyond the plot of the film why continue to use the Turbo powers?

^ The Turbo Zords - which are directly connected to the Turbo Keys - were stated to be the most powerful Zords in existence at the time. The Zeo powers themselves may have been continually growing stronger, but the arsenal associated with them was supplanted in strength by an arsenal associated with the Turbo Keys.

Sadly, Divatox is one of the few villains I really didn't like. Her outfit, her personality, all of it was just off for me.

Case and point, the episode where she loses her memory and becomes a pizza lady? Really? Yeah...
