Power Rangers 4.0 - Part 1

You could argue that Super Sentai, even though it was aimed at kids and has it's moments of silliness and goofiness, takes itself more seriously and doesn't talk down to it's audience. And when characters die, they stay dead.

I just started watching Zyuranger, and even though it is kind of silly in some parts, it doesn't treat it's young audience like a bunch of numbskulls. I'm loving it so much more than MMPR it's not even funny. And I've only watched two episodes.

I started that way with Zyuranger, it seemed so good, but after about seven episodes, they start dealing with little kids every week and it gets really stupid. The stuff with Burai as the Green Ranger is decent, but the rest seems just about as dumbed down as the worst of MMPR. It reminds me of that crappy Godzilla movie with the little kid who imagined being on Monster Island with Minilla.

Apparently, they are prepping a Zyuranger announcement. I don't have the link, was reading on RangerBoard, but the Pterranger actress tweeted about an announcement, and a lot are speculating a returns/possible team up with the current dinosaur sentai, Kyoruger.

I think it's a bit more of how Japan deals with things

They bundle the insaneness with the dark moments and awesome moments.

Just take a look at this scene from this past Sunday's Kyoryuger episode 27

If anyone watched Magiranger(Mystic Force) by the end of the 2nd episode all the siblings effectively brush off their Mom's apparent death.

Kai- We promise to be Mahou Sentai Magiranger and avenge our mother...
.
.
.
Makito- WELL! Looks like little brother has some reading to do!

Urara- Yep! don't stay up too late!

Kai- Aw man!

The PR DVD set finally has a price, but ya'll better be prepared

No thank you. Some of those seasons I wouldn't even watch that much. Turbo would probably get one watch as I go through the entire series, then it would be ignored. The helmet case is unbelievable though.

Way to price it out of the range of any sane person (especially in this economy).
God knows we we constantly try to justify to ourselves the money we spend on toys and comics.:cwink:

I was going to buy this....now I have to hope I get rich quick.....

So did anyone actually watch Megaforce's return today?

I'm watching it right now..... God I hate Troy

Yep! I'm writing my review now and will post it soon. I thought it was a great episode.

They made Troy a little "too cool", it's kind of hard to believe sometimes that a person like him exists. But his confrontation with Robo Knight was very good.

Sorry for the delay but the review is up!

Check it out here, and let me know what you think in the comments.

So I've never seen a single episode of Kamen Rider

Where would I start?

Any recommendations?

Kamen Rider Kabuto. It's not as goofy as later Kamen Rider series. Probably the last one to copy the "Japanese Soap Opera drama" style.

Anything from 2000 to 2006.

Kuuga and Agito are like straight up Japanese drama's with scifi mixed in. They're not as flashy as newer seasons.

Tvnihon has a bit of Kuuga and Agito. Full season of Kabuto is up
