The Dark Knight Pressure on Aaron Eckhart for a great Two-Face Performance?

AE is a great actor, I am sure that when he get's his shot in the 3rd film he will come up with his own take and do a great job with it. He will get to see the great reaction that Heath gets from playing the Joker and I am sure he will want to get that same kind of reaction and will work very hard to come up with something unique and very good.

I`m pretty sure some of you have read this before-

http://ny.metro.us/metro/blog/the_word/entry/The_Word_Baby_steps/9082.html ?

I was just thinking- Maybe he was nervous cuz he read some fan reactions when Heath was first cast to play the Joker?...If so that just shows what an effect we have. A lot of people dont seem too familiar with Aaron and some even suggest certai movies to watch to show that the guy can definatley act but one movie that I think would put faith or even more faith in everybody is Suspect Zero. You guys watch that and you`ll kno he`s the right guy for the job! Plus I think the third film is going to be just as interesting. I mean here you`ll have a villain who not only Batman wont kill cuz he doesnt do that but does he even want to hurt Harvey? Batman has always had hope and faith that Two-face can be helped and so its going to be interesting to see a character who we feel sympathetic for and its simply what Batman is going to do about Two-Face that is going to be interesting.

who knows at this point, i mean....ledger came out of fricken nowhere for the role and everyone thought the movie was prolly shot to hell but damn did that take a sharp left turn, so who knows what the future holds...and i figure echhart seeing how well ledger did with joker just might try to up the ante on purpose.

I have full confidence that Eckhart will deliver on all fronts - he seems like a very likeable and believable guy to begin with. The more important aspect of Harevy Dent for me.

Plus i think both Ledger and Bale will give us outstanding performances... But i'm sure Nolan has kept the screenplay firmly in Bale's favour. He doesn't seem like the kind of director to just abandon themes from his first movie.

Judging from the trailer though... the biggest badass and the only guy who will steal the show is Moragn Freeman :oldrazz: 'thats more like it Mr Wayne'!!

Hasn't Christopher Nolan said that Harvey Dent is his favorite character out of the Batman mythology?

He's also a big Joker fan, but think about that for a second. Mediocre fan of The Joker and an absolute crazy over Dent. Doesn't that say something? If he can make The Joker appear this well on-screen for a mediocre taste, then imagine Eckhart as Dent/Two-Face.

Nolan did say Dent was the back bone of this movie!!

Two-Face is my favourite Batman villain right after Scarecrow so I'm very excited that they casted someone as competent as Eckhart. Two-Face is such a tormented and complex character that he gives endless opportunities for the actor and for the director and for the writers.

I loved Eckhart in Thank You For Smoking. He is someone who is immediately likeable and gives those all-around good guy vibes. And those are the qualities that are needed when playing Harvey Dent so that his descent becomes even more moving and disturbing. And I'm quite confident that Eckhart is capable of giving us the ultimate Two-Face interpretation. It's not that hard. All he has to be is monstrous, ruthless, schizophrenic, volatile, obsessive-compulsive, post-traumatic and borderline psychopath.

No seriously, that's a huge challenge for any actor.

In the end, you have to appreciate the villains for what they are. Two-Face and The Joker are two completely different characters. They're each going to have their fans and critics.

I myself am more of a Joker person, but I look forward to seeing a Nolan-esque Two-Face all the same.

:up::up: Well said!

Aaron Eckhart actually reminds me of Heath Ledger, pre-Brokeback Mountain. Really talented actor, but without a truly great vehicle to gain recognition for his acting abilities. Eckhart's been the best thing in a good few bad movies, I can say that.

Here's the thing. People talk about "Thank You For Smoking" or "The Black Dahlia". But I've heard that his best work is "In The Company of Men". Now, I haven't seen this film. I want to, but can't get it on DVD anywhere. This was an indy film from the early 90s, that essentially put Eckhart on the map. I've heard people call his performance in this film one of the best of the decade, a real tour de force of evil. And it seems Eckhart's problem has been not being able to quite follow that up in the bigger films he's been a part of.

I love the character of Two-Face. I have full confidence in Eckhart and Nolan that an amazing portayal of the character will be delivered on screen in the Dark Knight and in the third film. Although i perfer the Joker, Two-Face is a more complex character and in the Long Halloween is easily the best character in that story. And seeing as the Nolan films are using the Long Halloween for inspiration, i have no doubts at all that Harvey Dent will be great.

what do they call Two-Face in finnish? :D

Two-Face is called "Kaksinaama". :yay:

"Kaksi" means the number two. Not taking a dump but the actual number.
one, TWO, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten IN FINNISH yksi, KAKSI, kolme, neljä, viisi, kuusi, seitsemän, kahdeksan, yhdeksän, kymmenen.

And the word "naama" means face. So it's a direct translation.

Two-Face = Kaksinaama

So there you go. Your Finnish 101. Class dismissed.:woot:

Cool, its odd how some languages dont bother trying to translate things but some do :)

Yeah usually the finnish translators try to respect the original names and whatnut. Direct translating is a pretty commonly used method here.

And you're right, in some countries they just come up with these ridiculous names that have nothing to do with the original. :yay: Not dissing anyone of course. Each country and each language has their own ways and that's fine by me.

If we are proven wrong than woohooo! I just don't know if Aaron Echhart is that great of an actor to pull off an amazing performance.
Aaron Echhart is a great actor. He can definitly and hopefully pull it off and with love of Nolan for Two Face's unique character, I honestly can't wait to see Harvey both in normal form and Two Face.

I wish Aaron wasnt stuck with the "third option" thing.

hmmm...

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but Harvey IS in the trailer for about a split second.

Now, now. Don't go jumping off Wayne Tower my batty friends, but if you see when Bruce walks over to the table, the first time we see Rachel, with a blond woman behind him--- you can see Harvey sitting right there across from Ms Dawes.

come on, hit me???

Every actor in every role should feel pressure to be god, rather than playing on star quality.

Rather than trying to "better" another character, a good actor will concentrate on making their role as good as it can be, regardless of the others.

However a lot is down to the script, but at least 90% of the TA don't actually care about that, lol.

I love How people are saying " Heath as Joker equals the best performance ever.. after seeing the prologue and trailer".... So ya'll are telling me after 7 minutes of film, you can conclude this movie is going to be amazing and blow everyone away and this Joker will be amazing?..
