Prometheus - Part 3

I'm not nearly as educated in Alien-lore as I should be.

I'm familiar with the Space Jockey, but could someone tell me what the Derelict is?

Isn't that the ship that sends out the signal that the crew go to investigate?

The Derelict is the ship where the Space Jockey is in and where the crew from Alien find the eggs that harbor the xenomorphs.

I said it before, and I'll say it again.

If the trailer is any indication, this will be the best-looking sci-fi film in years. The bleakness, the darkness, the suffocating sense of dread. It's glorious.

There is also Cloud Atlas somewhere on the horizon.

That sounds equally as impressive.

I'm just gonna buy Alien tomorrow. It's long overdue. Thanks guys.

And wow. I'm just now noticing that person to the right of the Space Jockey gun :lmao:.

The guy doing the diving attack and the guy standing next to the Space Jockey's turret thing is the same guy right?

I don't think it is. Infected crew member definitely doesn't look like that bald giant black eyed humanoid.

The infected crew member looks nothing like the other giant humanoid alien guy.

Take a look at them in an HD trailer at 1080. They're not one in the same.

Well, the trailer did it's job.

Despite knowing very little about the film's storyline, I'm hooked.

The bluray box set has come right down in price. I got it last year for about £55 and bought it for a friend yesterday for £18. Well worth it. They look like new films.
Bargain, Boom.

The trailer is soo goooood

Like other people have said looking at the teaser closely, makes me think that plot description we got a while back may have some truth in it.

Theron's character apparently turns into the "Star Beast" near the end of the film. Looks like she is going a bit animalistic there.

Also said about the crew having nightmares and strange visions. There is a shot of someone sitting up in bed with the head in their hands.

There is another couple of things.

Damn. Need to download that trailer very fast.

One question in the meantime. Who's that bold guy on the right in this pic?

Leave me alone I'm tired. :argh: :oldrazz:

Ok then I hadn't really thought about how huge that bald albino guy must be given his size in context to the Space Jockey turret. :O so who is the infected crew member?

There's a bunch of crew members so it's a bit hard to tell at the moment. Especially as the one guy is all mutated and stuff.

I'm really curious about the giant bald humanoid alien guy though. If you take a look at the chair it looks like the armor/casing of the Jockey is open and he's walking freely around the ship.

Could be some sort of transferred flashback of the jockeys history before it/he died.

I don't know if it's been pointed out yet or not, but to me it looks like he probably got out of one of the, what I'm assuming are some sort of stasis pods on that disk thing. The one on the left seems to have been opened.

Notice that next to that spacejockey chair, those pods look like those cryogenic sleep capsules from the Alien movies, only a bit more organic/spacejockey tech.

Do you think the guy is a Jockey? I was thinking he might be sort a centurion for them but eh could actually be one.

Good eye, perhaps the scene is he gets out of the pods as he is awoken by the crew exploring the planet, and the first thing he does is press something that brings the Space Jockey chair out of the floor.

Fellas I think we're cracking the puzzle.

I think he may very well be the space jokey. I know Scott keeps reinforcing the idea that what we saw in Alien is just the suit. Well take a look at part of the chair. If I'm not mistaken I can actually make out part of the helmet of the jockey which is open in two symmetrical halves (it's part of the chair it seems) as for someone to sit in it and it then comes together and it encloses that being into what we know as the space jockey.

If that makes any sense.

Fun little Alien trivia.

The android blood that Ash's decapitated head spits up is actually milk, and Ian Holm hates milk :lmao:.

It does and it's another part of the puzzle! Now what does the chair do? I wouldn't be surprised if it is responsible for some of the big destruction sequences we cans see in the trailer, including whatever that is burrowing towards the ship at the 34 second mark.

The Derelict is the ship where the Space Jockey is in and where the crew from Alien find the eggs that harbor the xenomorphs.
So this is a direct prequel to Alien. The planet these guys go to is the same one the Nostromo follows the emergency beacon to several years later.

So many questions.

Honestly though when I look at the possible space jockey he doesn't really seem malicious or evil at all. Then again appearances could be misleading but I'm not really getting a dangerous vibe from the guy.

The Derelict though does seem like it's packed with some firepower. I don't get how Scott says the xenomorphs won't even be in this movie but how would that explain the apparent chestburster injury the space jokey suit had in Alien? Or why the Derelict even crashed to begin with?

Gah, this movie poses so many great questions.

That appears to be the case.
