http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplayl...rms_hell_be_playing_an_android_in_prometheu/#I, Robot: Michael Fassbender Confirms He’ll Be Playing An Android In ‘Prometheus’
While speculation runs irritatingly rampant about “Prometheus” and what exactly from “Alien” will appear in this not-a-prequel to the film, Michael Fassbender has finally confirmed a long swirling rumor about who he will play in the film that is keeping plot and character details very, very close close to the chest.
In an interview with EW when asked directly if he would be playing an android in the film he stated, “I don’t know what I can say!” nodded affirmatively adding, “I don’t want to get into trouble…” Yeah, that’s how secretive Ridley Scott wants to be about this forthcoming film.
Again asked about the connections between “Alien” and “Prometheus,” Fassbender once again said a variation of the same statement he’s been making for the past while. Scrutinize away: “It’s a different story, but it’s also got the traditional roots. ‘Alien’ fans will recognize things in it. It’s not ignoring ‘Alien,’ there’s still a link to that world. But it’s a different story. It’s definitely connected, though.” Got all that. It’s connected, but it isn’t, but it is.
So what more do we know? Fassbender is an android so throw that in a pot, stir and we’re sure more rumors will start cropping up. In the meantime in more solid news, Idris Elba, Sean Harris and Kate Dickie were announced as the latest additions to the cast, though of course, their roles were not specified. They join Noomi Rapace and Charlize Theron in the film. Once Fassbender finishes up “Shame” with Carey Mulligan that he’s currently shooting with “Hunger” director Steve McQueen in New York, he’ll fly to London and head to Pinewood were production is mounting for “Prometheus.” The film will hit theaters on June 8, 2012.
And I live in ... yes, in Scotland! So gonna track down Ridley.Prometheus Films in Scotland
Aint It Cool News recently reported that Prometheus will be filming in Scotland:
The Scottish Daily Express reported today that Inverness or Fort William in the Scottish Highlands will be the production base for an August and September shoot. According to the article, other mountainous parts of Europe had been considered but the Scottish Highlands best suited the films theme of grand mythology and the universe (the relative proximity to Pinewood Studios in England where the rest of the film is shooting wouldnt have hurt either).
I wouldnt call it horrible. Not the best.
But Im sure hes happy he's getting movie work unlike 95% of the other actors on The Wire
http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplayl...l_joins_the_cast_of_ridley_scotts_prometheus/British up and comer Rafe Spall is the latest addition to the ever-growing cast of Ridley Scotts next film Prometheus which has been reported to be inspired/linked to the 1979 sci-fi classic Alien but isnt quite a prequel. The actorwholl next be seen in Roland Emmerichs Anonymous as well as Lone Scherfigs One Daywill star along side the likes of Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba, Sean Harris and Kate Dickie. While Monsters and future Cogans Trade star Scoot McNairy was also previously linked to a role, it may have been the one Spall has now been cast in.
Details of the project are being kept relatively under wraps though star Fassbender has revealed hell play an android in the film which is a different story [to the Alien series] but its also the traditional roots. Helmer Scott himself added that Alien was indeed the jumping off point for this project. Out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place.
But Daily Mails Baz Bamigoye seemingly sings a different tune, arguing that the film is very much a prequel to Scotts Alien with the monster reportedly being developed right now and is one that is so terrifying its scaring the designers! Sounds like mostly speculation and hearsay at this stage and, from the studios reaction to past rumors, Scott and company will probably hold their cards close to their chest until closer to the films unveiling.
Either way, shooting begins on March 21st at the famous Pinewood Studios with a June 8th, 2012 release already in place. [DailyMail]
Despite spin that "Prometheus," Ridley Scott's upcoming sci-fi flick that returns the director to his "Alien" roots, is not a prequel to the franchise he helped launch in 1979, some of the stars of the new film apparently beg to differ. Actor Michael Fassbender told us last month that the new movie shares "a definite connecting vein" with the previous films.
And now "Prometheus" co-star Noomi Rapace has seconded that assessment. When MTV News recently asked the Swedish actress about the definitive "Alien" connection, she answered, simply, "Yeah, yeah."
Yet Rapace emphasized that her character, a scientist named Elizabeth Shaw, is not some knock off of Sigourney Weaver's Ripley the take-no-crap hero of the original "Alien" movies.
"She's definitely her own," Rapace said of Shaw. "She's a scientist and she's very bright and she's a believer. They have some similarities, but she's very much her own. I don't think people will compare [her] so much to Ripley when they see her. Ripley was a hero for me."
"I have many ideas and he has many ideas, and now we try to find her," the actress told us. "I will step into her shoes in March and be here for six months, so it's quite a long shoot."
