Psp Slim Kicking Butt In Japan!!!

It all comes down to personal preference....I don't own a DS...I don't think I ever will. There just are not that many games on it that really make me go 'oooh I have to get it'. To be honest it looks like a glorified SNES/N64...the 2D graphics are fine, but the 3D graphics are just plain crap. I'll take Crisis Core or GOW:Chains of Olympus graphics any day. I like Nintendo, I will be getting a Wii at some point, now that I've got my PS3 and X360 but the fact is....to me...the DS is just a gimic, like the Wii. Gimics sell..yes...but not for me. I'll take my PSP any day.

Besides, as far as multi use...being a multimedia format..the PSP beats the DS hands down...download movies...music....surf the internet...all out of the box. The DS has two screens..big ****in deal.

I don't need a Playstation Portaable to play movies, listen to music, surf the Internet, etc. I use my DVD player, CD player/radio, and computer to do those things. I don't need to do those things with gaming machines. I get them to play freaking video games.

And there are good games for the Nintendo DS. Graphics aren't everything. There's Star Fox: Command, New Super Mario Bros., Metroid Prime: Hunters, the Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, and considering that you're a Final Fantasy fan, there's also Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy Tactics A-2: Grimoire of the Rift, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, and Square-Enix is bound to remake Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI for the system.

And frankly, I don't see the Nintendo DS and Wii as gimmicks. I see them as gaming systems that allow you to be more interactive with them. Pushing outside of the box is good for the video game industry just like competition is. Hopefully, the Playstation Portable will allow Nintendo to develop a more graphically powerful handheld next time.

I actually agree with you for the most part. As for the "I don't need a PSP to play movies/music etc." that is fine too. However, if you look at an overall package of things, I think the PSP is the better value. I travel alot for work, and I am getting alot of use out of my PSP. The ability to watch a movie, listen to music or play a game in an airport or on an airplane out of one system is great for me.

You also jogged my memory as to why I would get a DS...the Final Fantasy remakes and the castlevania games.

Yes, Nintendo is thinking outside the box with the DS and Wii, and will continue to do so, but they are indeed gimicks. Gimick isn't a bad term..but I think, especially with the Wii, it's the gimicks that are selling the Wii.

I have nothing bad to say about the Wii, I'll get one eventually, but I am in that particular group of ppl who look at the Wii with a raised eye brow. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would have problems picking out more than a handful of games to buy on the system right now. The Wii Play games...carnival...stuff like that doesn't apeal to me. I'd get Zelda, Metroid, Super Smash Bros....but besides those...there isn't anything right now that is making me go "I have to have one".

I used to have alot more respect for Nintendo back in the SNES days....the quality of titles...the massive 3rd party support...the awesomeness of the games...not so much any more.
