No, introducing Woody as some random dude and having Shawn and Gus build a relationship with him over this season to the point that he's practically another regular is brilliant by this show's standards. Revealing him to be a sociopathic killer would be lame. It'd be as heavy-handed and out of place as the first half of season 3, which I found to be one of the worst stretches in the series because it was so overly emotional and dramatic.The thing is, it all comes down to the writing. It could be both funny and light while also dramatic. If done well, it could be brilliant.
Personally, I think the best thing they could do for Mr. Yin is to have another big-name guest star play him/her. Maybe even another Brat Pack star. It'd give those who want it the recognizability factor while avoiding any overwrought twists with established characters, and we'd probably get a whole slew of new Breakfast Club references out of it.
