I think the real Purvis shot and killed a few guys in the back so I think he has a bit of an edge to him.

The real Purvis was insane! In a good way. Though he shot Dillinger in the back on his own accord and lied to many criminals about letting them live, let's be honest, they probably deserved it.

No, Im saying you would know better than us where they were shooting.

I knew when/where Scorsese and Affleck were shooting in Boston for Departed and Gone Baby Gone (not all of Afflecks since some of his Boston work was undocumented), and when Indy was Conn. They usually have to publicize that stuff so as to not get in the publics way.

It's a gangster epic with lots of action and 2 big stars in a summer full of CGI fests and comic book/Sci Fi movies, It will be a hit in that position IMO.

Thats the kinda thinking the studio had with Manns last film, Miami vice, and howd that do?This film belongs in November or December. That said, I would be shocked if this doesnt move to November at some point, especially after American Gangsters success.

Miami Vice had one shoot out and neither star was anywhere near as popular as Bale and especially Depp, Dillinger and 30's gangsters are classic Americana and the film is LOADED with action, totally different to Miami Vice, look how well Collateral did in the Summer ? ppl want some alternatives to the blow em up CGI flicks, that is why Bourne did so well. November is such a cliche' "Lets get t3h oscrarz" thinking.

I think I agree here, it makes a nice alternative in the summer.

I'm not getting into the numbers b/c you know how i feel about your way of predicting excatidies like that, but ppl look for alternatives and TF2 will have plenty of ppl looking for something different, in November they'd be facing Potter and TF2 is not even guaranteed to make it's date, being near it is classic counter programming.

I think this has a much broader appeal than Yuma had, it's at a bigger studio, has a bigger star in Depp and a bigger director in Mann.
