I think they're talking about the shot of him firing the tommy gun while riding the car, I don't think he's holding two though.
But with the hurdle thing, some caps to show what I mean. It's most likely one of those things where they want it to be an exciting shot in the film, and instead of having Depp having to bust his butt in getting it down just right. Get a professional to get it down in two takes so they can all move on to the rest of the scene (and just paste his face on the double). He's definitely got wires though, that vest is being pulled up and he's heading
high up north before even planting his hand on the table.

I saw the movie last night and I must say that it still looks like he had the scene doubled. The version I saw wasn't a final version but the lighting on the face still didn't match the rest of it.
