Iron Man Q & A w/Jon Favreau from his Myspace site!

no one that can really act can pitt is big enough i believe

I'm a little late to the party but I'll lend my opinion anyway. First of all Favreau has already made a hughe mistake by going the same route Singer and Nolan went. Grounding the comic book films in reality has greatly hindered every one that has come out. Sin City succeeded because it never attempted to do that. The point shouldn't be to create a film around today's reality but to be create your own world and make your own reality where men can wear metallic suits and fly around and blast repulsor rays from their palms.

Last time I checked, Nolan had great success with Batman Begins, as did Singer with the 2 X men movies. SR suffered but not for trying to be "too real", rather it suffered from among other things because it made a sequel when what was needed was a re-boot.

All I want to know is when the hell are we going to find out who will play Tony Stark/ IronMan

I'm with ya brother, been quite lately, which I guess makes since, Jon adding a new member to his family is important.
Does anyone know if the script is officially done?

You know, since you mentioned it and I'm thinking about it, wouldn't he be great as Captain America? Assuming he's close to 6' tall.
No, he wouldn't be great as Captain America. He's a bad actor and close to 5ft9.

That's because it's a more realistic character when compared to Ant-Man or Sabretooth mkay. Tony Stark isn't a superhero and he lives in a real world and this isn't a crossover so there shouldn't be an fantastic supervillains in this one. Favreau's doing the right thing imo.

I would agree that a realistic, Batman Begins kinda tone, only less dark, would be right for IM. One thing that I´ve found interesting in Favreau´s statements is how he feels a political aspect in the story, which I think will help to establish that realism, and give some more poignancy to the story, combined with the action, suspense, humour, etc.

Casting news bub. Stark has been hired. :)

I have a strange feeling because while casting news is great if it's really big news there's only a few actors that can generate a lot of buzz. I have strange feeling Tom Cruise signed onto a 3 pic deal. I know Fav's said he wasn't going for a big star but who knows. It's just a feeling.

It is true. Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark. I am about as excited as I can be. I saw what he can do and he is extremely enthusiastic about playing Stark. I can say with absolute certainty that there is no better choice. The humor and emotional dimension he brings truly raises the bar on this project. Get ready.

-Jon Favreau

Well now we're rolling!

Damn straight. RDJ better come with it or this movie is going down fast.

Although Downey isn't short at 5'9" this guy consistently looks like a midget on screen. He still wouldn't look like Stark even if he were 6 foot 4. Favreau, you idiot.

It's a great pic. Tell me you thought Stallone was 5 ft 7 in his Rambo or any actions films for that matter. You put the right cast around him and he looks huge.

I'm sorry Ed Quinn from Eureka would have a much better Tony. If you think too hard about it his character name is Nathan Stark, Come On!

Hey AD, is there anything new from Favreau?

He's busy as hell right now I'm sure so he's not talking to much but he is reading all the messages he's being sent I know that. I think the Downey JR news is enough to talk about for now. We'll hear more probably real soon...no doubt by Marvel's earnings in 6 weeks or so.

AD/Jon

good morning, as a actor from England, it is very hard to get parts in a movie like this, and it hurts more when you have grown up reading the comic's as a kid. so am asking. how do a get in touch with the casting team/person?

BTW boys and girls Robert Downey Jr is linked to Favreau's Iron Man group now. LOL

Life is good as a fan huh?

See my top friends list for the links to everyone so far.
