Question on Hulks appearance

the guy was born in 51, he's 56 now, why hire him to be Hulk or do motion capture?.. cause he's very experienced at it? no. He's too old, his body isnt that good. they could just as easily go to the WWE or a company like that and get one of their guys.

cause Lou doesnt look like that anymore, the guy is old.

OK I never said that Lou could do it again! of course is too old now. but you get my point. Since angie lee did that "king kong-Shrek movie" everybody wants big! big! big!By the way I did like angie movie but not the hulk fx.

how did he look like Shrek?.. other than being green that is. Hulk was too tall but all this Shrek talk is bulls**t. Hulk CGI was great cause Ang didnt have the budget he wanted, that was his first time working with CGI. Hulk looked nearly perfect in the first Hulk-out and it looks like thats the way the new film is going too.

Not too sure this would work

Without being 15ft tall, the Hulk is by every means "larger than life" and some "above the average dude" wouldn't do him justice at all.
And yes Lou is older now (not Old, it's not repectful of the man) and hum

And TV Hulk was puny...
big screen, big hulk (not godzi-like of course)

Yeah well we re not on the same generation cause at the time it was "the show" Again Lou is too old no doubt I never said that he could do it again but they could could use another big dude with the 300 sfx. I don t hate cg but we re not there yet! The cg animation still too "Shrek a like".

yeah...^^^ those look like Shrek :whatever:

Where's that pic from?
it rocks big time

And yeah, hulk = shrek = How come???
no way Hulk looks like shrek in the movie or anywhere...

wouldn't push for all CGI, but a good mix of animatronics and CGI would rock
A man in a suit, even a la Hellboy (great, but which relied a lot on Ron's acting--> the facial is great, the fights, so so) ain't the Hulk...

is that the hulk you want to get:

I said the cg animation is Shrek a like.

I don't understand why people keep comparing Hulk to Shrek :cmad:
Ok, so if it isn't fot being big and green, why?
Why comparing it to Shrek for the cg animation?
Why not any of the all cg movie we had the last couple years (Ice age, the Incredibles, etc etc)
I mean, hulk was 1 Cg character among real shot of real locations (desert/base/SF), not an entire world of CG
In that sense, you should try to make your point using reference like Godzilla (big giant monster causing havoc everywhere / CG monster in "real locations"), I-robots... Where there is actually an interaction between Cg and "human"... not CG and cg human-likes

The animation in shrek is splendid btw, in an all cg world...
But comin back to the topic, hulk's appearance, well, good CGI will do him justice, better than suits

(I'd love to be proved wrong if such a costume would work....)

People constantly compared Lee's CGI Hulk to Shrek because his musculature looked soft, not ripped and well-defined, and had somewhat of a baby-face. At times in the film he looked great, but overall I think the design was pretty poor.
He should look less like this...
hulk.jpg

and more like this...
hulk100_turner_poster.jpg

I'm sure Leterrier's vision is going to be more like the latter. The fact that Leterrier also said Hulk will be less bright green in color will help move away from the Shrek comparisons.

^They wanted to make Hulk more relatable, so they gave him softer features. He's the relucatant hero who's treated as a villain, so you have to have some sympathy for him.

Hey, just trying to put things together
we're all going with our favorite version of hulk, based on design from the regular comic's author (Keown, Turner, etc, etc) but if you read Louis' ITW here http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=272999

he says
Lastly, what can we expect of the character’s design? Will you use the same as the previous movie?

No, he will be truly different. It’s in Stéphane Levallois’ hands. If you only take the face, it needs to be redesigned for the SFX , on one hand, but also because the first Hulk had a lot of Eric Bana.
Well this is the kind of design your man Levallois does for big monsters

(ok it's more like abomination than Hulk, but it gives us an idea of the Art of the guy who most likely will give us the Hulk design for TIH)

WTF?... what do you mean? was it the way Hulk moved?.. if yes then you are mistaken, both Hulk and Shrek moved like normal people, there is no other way for Hulk to walk other than the way he walked in the movie. Hulk took on tanks, dogs, Helicopters. Jumped miles and none of this looked ANYTHING like Shrek

LL said that a guy named Aaron sims or something is desiging the new Hulk

Where's that pic from?
it rocks big time

Its one of the posters that were not used for the first movie.

Thanks for the poster update, no wonder i've never came accross before, I wasn't on the net back in 2003 :hyper:

regarding the design, I'm refering to LL itw where he talks about his friend Levallois, i dunno about Sims?

that was a another poster they could have used too.

LL talked about Sims before this new interview, maybe they changed people

WAAAAAAHHH! mommy! mommy! where are you! I am the shrek! not! hulk

:woot:

Where is this from? It's probably the best Hulk poster i've ever seen. If it's a fan manip, i think that Hulk should be grabbing Banner's hand, as oppose to the other way round to represent Hulk being stronger but it still rocks...

its a poster buy some guy who worked for the first movie, Ang said something like there was 100s of poster and i think thats one of them.

The problem with Hulk's appearance in the first film, and the reason it gets compared to Shrek, was not that he looked like Shrek, but he was colored like Shrek. Now, before you all go insane and tell me to leave, let me explain:

In the film, Hulk is colored with not only too bright of a green, it's the only tone of green on his body. There is no skin tones or textural changes to the color at all. It's like taking a highly realistic Hulk painting and only using one solid green to paint it. Everybody has varying tonal changes in their skin, from blue in the veins to red in the cheeks. Hulk had none of this. It was what gave him that animated look. It's what made him come off looking like Shrek.

yeah, he did look too green in some scenes, mostly in the nights scenes.

Baldercrap!
ILM took great pains to add detail and imperfection to Hulk's complexion, specifically so it would have a layer of realism and not look like a CGI cartoon.

But... it did look like a CGI cartoon. It's like they didn't bother with any real-life reference and did all the work right on the computer, with the entire design coming from their heads.

They should at least constructed a highly realsitic suit, not to use in the movie, but for the artists to use as a reference.
