Since The Joker and Batman are archenemies, am the only one who thinks that Joker should murder Rachel ala The Killing Joke?

Discuss

Joker didnt murder anyone in the Killing Joke except the guy he bought the amusement park from.

The Joker paralyzed Barbara with a gun shot that shattered her spine and took pics of her to drive Gordon insane.

She's as good as dead.

I don't mind her living, but she won't.

I thought Rachel was going to have a larger role in TDK and in the 3rd film according to Miranda.

When did Miranda start directing Batman movies?! :wow:

:o

yeah really. but dont count on Rachel dying. its not going to happen

I'm sorry but I don't believe that. When Harvey becomes Two-Face, they're gonna need a new D.A. and it's gonna be Rachel

exactly...she still has a purpose to serve in the movies

Hopefully she meets a grisly demise by being eaten by polar bears :)

she doesnt, but most of the spoiler info she has gathered as ran true so far, so that certainly gives her a bit more credit.

as long as Joker kills somebody ill be happy.

Yeah, why not.

Mr.J kill her, now!

I wonder how come I didn't start this thread. Anyways, as much as I want her dead, I know it won't happen, unfortunately.

You know what would be better? If she was eaten by this crazy creature I saw the other day! I kind of looked like Heath Ledger trying to be the Joker, but it had big scars on both cheeks and really messy lipstick! That would be so horrifying!

Oh wait...:woot:

I hear that the creature only comes out on special occasions. We may be seeing more of him in December, according to some scientists. :oldrazz:

Whatever happens to Rachel, I wonder if Maggie Gyllenhaal's portrayal can turn around some of the fan reaction to the character. It'd be pretty funny if all the "Aaaargh! Die b!tch, die!" guys suddenly got all weepy when Rachel meets her hypothetical demise, just cause Maggie Gyllenhaal played her so much better than Katie Holmes did. :oldrazz:

I want Joker to try and kill her elaborately, daring Batman to save her. And when Batman DOES save her, Joker shoots her in the stomach when he's trying to escape. And she dies in Batman arms.

Yeah. That's what I'd want.

If she dies then she dies but I want her to live since Gotham will need another new DA when Dent becomes Two Face.

She should be killed just for continuity's sake seems Katie Holmes isnt in it.

No. Rachel shouldn't die. I honestly don't know why people support this stupid idea.

I don't think it's a good idea in the sense of making things somehow personal between Batman and The Joker. BUT, I've thought for a while now that The Joker killing Dawes could be used really well to build toward Harvey becoming Two-Face. Having one of his ADAs murdered would undercut any progress that he, Bats and Gordon have made and it'll push him further toward that edge.

In fact, here's my ideal Harvey arc for TDK:

1. Newly elected, popular DA realizes how bad things really are and reluctantly agrees to work with Batman and Gordon. In doing so, he has to concede that he's not the difference-maker he thought he was, and that the concepts he's spent so much time learning don't actually work in Gotham, where the justice system is more like a coin toss.

2. Early success against lower tiers of mafia by the trio helps Dent feel better about stomping all over the Constitution, but he's still deeply conflicted about it. Confides this in his wife, Gilda. The "Joker" character isn't given a high priority, instead they focus on bringing mob head Rossi (heading what's left of the Falcone family, Maroni is the top enforcer) down.

3. Rachel Dawes murdered in her own apartment. Joker card at the scene, disturbing photos mailed to Dent, who becomes absolutely livid. Dent thinks that he's the target because as an elected official he's more visible than Gordon, and doesn't wear a mask like Batman. (Some dialogue about being two different people could come into play). This is the kickoff of the Joker's campaign of raising hell, which Batman and Gordon take care of.

4. Harvey is headstrong, determined to bring mob down, on his own. Neglects wife, talks a lot of schit in the the press, isn't pleasant to be around, but somehow gets an indictment. Maybe a nice scene where he apolgizes to Gilda and talks about how things will change after the trial. Maroni called to testify, yada yada yada.

Just my opinion, obviously, but I think it would make for a pretty good depiction of Harvey while still remaining within the movie itself, i.e. we wouldn't need have his insane father--which to me would seem shoehorned into the story-- to make Two Face's emergence plausible.

I'm still rooting for Rachel to become Harvey's girlfriend. She could have been in his class at law-school or something and his return to Gotham reintroduces them... She could be kind of an amalgam of Gilda Dent and Janice Porter (TLH and DV)

Plus, that'd bring a nice dynamic between Bruce who ultimately has (had?) feelings for Rachel and his friend Harvey who can give her what Bruce can't: a normal life with a person who isn't obsessed with crime. Until, of course...

With no Jason Todd being introduced within 2.5 hours, Joker's gonna need someone close to Bruce that he can off. What likely candidate is there than Rachel? She's the lamb to be slaughtered.

Yeah. That's what I'd want.

It be funny if the "I'd be dying your arms tonight" song was playing in the background.

I wouldn't mind Joker killing Rachel, not because I don't like the character, just because I want this Joker to be vile. I kind of liked Nicholson's Joker a little too much, I want this version to be somebody you wish Batman would make an exception for and kill. I don't want it to be fun and games when he's on screen, I want it to be a real possiblity that somebody might not make it to part 3 when he's around. A true villain you love to hate...
