Do you seriously argue for the sake of argument?

Strapping a claymore to a missile that never went off isn't wacky?

The movie was so over the top.

Not that hard to believe, actually, especially since it was a bomb and not a launched missile.

Over the top would be running around with machine guns in an open field not getting shot.
Using a turret, blocking the bullets coming at you as you fire away...and still getting wounded is gritty, raw, realistic war violence.
As stated above, your example is not over the top either.

The other sequels were over the top, this film dropped RAMBO into a realistic setting, in the most brutally violent location in the world, and the film realistically relfects that brutality...

I was just about to post that article above, which shoves it right in the face of critics that insist that this film is nothing but some cheesy action flick with nothing relevant to contribute to society.

Just purchased First Blood and First Blood 2 on DVD for the first time.Thought about getting the trilogy which is only 20 bucks, but figured I wouldn't be watching Rambo 3 too many times.

From IMDb.com:-

Bootleg copies of Sylvester Stallone's latest Rambo movie are popping up all over Myanmar (Burma), despite efforts by authorities to prevent the film from being circulated, Reuters reported today (Tuesday). In a report from Yangon, the wire service said that the movie, in which the country's military junta is portrayed as the enemy, is "fast becoming a talking point among a population eager to shake off 45 years of military rule." Reuters indicated that a paraphrased line from the movie, "Live for nothing, die for something," has become a rallying cry within the country and has buoyed the resolve of opponents of the military regime.

That's fu*kin awesome.

I saw the trailer in the cinema last night, 2 weeks to go here till the UK release, can't wait!

It's doing great on the weekdays, which means strong legs.

Well, this film has awesome word of mouth. I've only known of a couple people who didn't care for it in real life, but these are not action film fans at all.

It's funny in a way that they wont show this in Myanmar. :cwink:

It was a bomb, not a missile. There's a big difference. Luckily Rambo got away before the concussion reached him.

Eh, I've already heard enough people saying he set off a nuke in this movie. I actually went out of my way the be a Dick and correct them that is 60 year old CONVENTIONAL high explosive.

If you are going to try and use realism and "over the top" to bash stuff in a movie, it helps to know what the hell your talking about.

Anyone know how much this is making worldwide? Boxofficemojo hasnt updated worldwide figures since after the first few days.

I don't think it's making all that much. Heck, I think even Juno is making more than Rambo now.

We're reducing Rambo showings to just two per day at our theater, starting tomorrow.

Saw it today, absolutly loved it. It was even better than I expected. I think Sly has taken all he's learned from all his years of experience in this business and aplied it here as he filmed this movie very responsively. I think he's done a beautiful job showing all the atrocities in Burma and I'm glad this movie wasn't censored and it is violently raw and loud as it should be. All this without ever forgetting it's a piece intended for entertainment.
Loved the ending, it was the perfect farewell to the character of Rambo and Sly did an awesome job like in Rocky Balboa making it come to full circle.
Loved the soundtrack as well. Hands down the best action movie of the year. Go see it if you haven't already. And if you have, go see it again ! lol ;0)

Juno hasn't made more money than RAMBO on a single day as long as RAMBO has been in theatres.

It really does seem like great word of mouth is keeping this film going. Overall, I think it has been a very successful January release.

So no one has any link to a site with the numbers?

I'm wondering how much it's made so far.

Thanks. At least it appears that it beat Meet The Spartans.

Just got back from seeing Rambo, and all i can say is it was a ****ing bloodbath!

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but was Julie benz team captured/rescue all in the same day..? because if not, i find it a little hard to believe that they wouldn't rape her right off the bat, instead of wait.

I love the dialogue between Rambo (or lack of it) and the bald mercenary. I though Rambo was gonna **** him up when that dude was taughting him on the boat, lol! :D

Saw the original as a kid and then of course the sequels back in the 80's. Loved John Rambo but watched Hollywood wanting money over story with the third one. Long forgot about Rambo and when I first heard about it, I rolled my eyes... this was just before Rocky Balboa.

When I saw Rocky Balboa, I thought it was incredible, Sly brought the heart back and closure to one of his iconic characters. I immediately thought... could he do the same with Rambo? I was worried as the trailers for it seemed to just be boring violence. My friend asked if I wanted to go see it with him last night, I had nothing else to do, so I went.

I was impressed and entertained from start to beginning. The battle-worn soul in Rambo was apparant from the first time he spoke. He didn't speak much but his body gestures and gritty-hard looks was more than enough for me. Sly did it again and gave us the closure for Rambo that Rocky got. For us fans from the 80's, it felt like seeing an old friend again. A few younger coworkers (early and mid-twenties) that had seen Rambo also loved the movie, without seeing the original. Sly picked the perfect location for the story and brought realism in how the situation would go down, Rambo couldn't save these people alone and needed help. Bravo Sly. I can't wait to watch this movie again.

It appears to do well during the week then nothing over the weekend

Pretty much. Kinda wierd, but it hasn't really dropped out of the top 7 in 3 weeks, especially concidering the tweens and mothers seeking anything Hannah Montana like crack fiends.

I loved the flashback /dream sequence . Oddly it shows the alternate ending from the first movie.

I forgot the exact time in between the capture and the rescue, but it is mentioned when Rambo is asked to take the mercs up the river to the drop off point. I thought it was like 10 days since the missionaries had been heard from. Someone probably has the exact number of days, but there was time between the two events.

I figured as much. Like i said, i find it hard to believe that they waited that long to try and rape Julie Benz's character. Those bastards would have done her immediately.

I agree, although I guess we really don't know for sure that they didn't.
