Just watched it again for the first time since it was released.
No idea why it gets so much hate. Sure there were a few things that could have been better (bit longer, some poor effects and most of all the "real" Deadpool) but that aside i can't fault it.
Great story, really good action scenes, nice soundtrack. Great acting too, especially from Jackman and Schreiber. The Blob was done really well, never thought they would be able to pull him off. Kitsch was ok as Gambit, would have been better if he perfected the accent. Schreiber was as close to Sabretooth as we'll ever get. Just compare him to Tyler Mane in X-Men 1!
I would have liked another half an hour dealing with Weapon X backstory. If they had done that and gotten Deadpool right this would have been up there with Avengers and Iron Man for me.
Now I know I may be opening a Pandora's box here with my question but it is something that I have always wondered
Do you think X-Men First Class or this movie should be placed first in the X-Men Chronology?
Now I have checked lot of discussion forums and there is lot of disagreement amongst fans as to which is the first chronologically and with regard to character development.
I think Wolverine Origins has to be the first simply because of the time he was born. He is shown in the movies to be born somewhere in the 19th century much before Magneto and Prof X. But the confusion arises because in the end they show Professor X who is bald and not wheelchair bound; whereas in X-Men First Class at the end they show a much younger Prof X who is wheelchair bound but not yet bald. And to add to the confusion they show a scene where Xavier and Magneto meet Wolverine in a bar...
What do you guys feel?
Even though Wolverine Origins starts off 1 century before the events of First Class, the opening credits for Origins stops at the Vietnam war which places the movie after the 1973 events of Days of Future Past so the chronology goes as follows:
-The first 6 minutes of Origins: Wolverine
-The atomic bomb scene in The Wolverine
-First Class
-Days of Future Past (1973)
-Origins: Wolverine
-X-Men
-X2: X-Men United
-X3: The Last Stand
-The Wolverine
-Days of Future Past (2023)
The reason why Xavier is old and bald at the end of Origins is because most of the film is set in 1985 whereas First Class is in 1962. Plus, DOFP answers the "Xavier walking" issue by having him use a drug that helps him walk again. As for the bar scene in FC, Wolverine isn't going to remember meeting Xavier and Magneto 4 decades before X1 due to his amnesia.
