Actually I kind of wish he did throw Kitty out of the chopper....no that would be kind of cheesy. How about he makes it back to his money and restates himself as a powerful tycoon and goes back to scheming and "forgives" Kitty but then it is somehow hinted at that he kills her and moves on then.

That would not have cheesy, that would have been bad @ss, there is no way a real version of Lex would not allow such an act to go unpuished, then and there. a

9 - he was a great spectrum of emotions and characteristics- humor, disdain, rage, quirkiness - loved it. Even the scene of watching the mini train set - just excellent.

So true..........

Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor: what can i say? the Spaceman delivers the goods like always. Spacey's Luthor has such charisma that you cant help liking him, even wanting to go see just how far can he carry his diabolical plan of detroying half the world. but there are momments that Spacey was downright sinister and sadistic, and all such likability dissapears because now you're frightened of him. he is definitely no light-weight villain, the fact that he finds amusement (and dare i say even a sense of justice?) in the cruelty that he inflicts even makes him more dangerous. and him being alive at the end of the film shows that if they do bring him back, he'll be badder, meaner and prehaps crazier than ever.

You watch JLU??? See how he treated Tala when she double-crossed him. That's the Lex I wanted.

I loved it. I love everything about the animated Lex from S:TAS, JL, and JLU!!!!

That is exactly how I personally would have wrote the character. Again, after all the years of Clancy Brown and Michael Rosenbaum, I couldn't stomach this take on the Luthor character. I just couldn't. I literally cringed at some of the jokes and punchlines.

I honestly can't understand why some people are happy with a comedic menace, no matter how awesome the NK beatdown was. Everything else was comical!!!

I found myself saying " Hardy Har Har " with alot of the Lex/Kitty interaction.

Sea Monkeys = Hardy Har Har!!!

I prefer Spacey over Hackman. I like Spacey's more reserved method to the comdic elements that were in the movie.

But I didn't see him as a huckster or a buffoon. He had humor and personality that made him enjoyable. He wasn't boring to watch.

Posey was alright as Kitty. She wasn't annoying and at times can be funny. But in the end, kinda useless.

well Spacey was quoted to describe the Lex-Kitty relationship as "bizarre"

the SR prequel comics showed that the reason why Kitty wont leave Lex was because
she witnessed Lex killing someone in prison. and she finds him strangely fascinating
. what i'd like to find out was why Lex wont kill Kitty, specially he knew that she threw the crystals out on purpose. unless he's reserving her for some other diabolical plan. maybe he'll wait for some passing ship and trade her in for safe passage. makes sense innit?

I thought that Spacey did a great job as Lex, however I really hated the stupid plan that he had. Kill billions of people by creating a new land... new land that is made of crystal and has no ability to habitat plant life or animal life? How was he going to sell this land and make all the money he planned to make if no one could live there? It just seemed very illogical.

He wasn't interested in plants or animals. Just the technology he could gain from the crystals to amass wealth and power.

There were some flat scenes with Lex, but I totally loved his Lex. He was mean, but funny. The ruthlessness at the end had me shocked...literally. He and his henchmen seriously gave Supes a beat down. I was horrified to see that and a little dismayed.

Lex didn't steal the show like I thought he would, but he was good.

I agree, I loved his performance. I too thought he was going to steal every scene he was in, he didn't. He still did a great job. :supes:

Gave Spacey a nine. Kickin the snot out of Supes sealed it for me. Rosenbaum's my favorite Lex, but I don't mind the comedic side of Lex that Kevin showed. Not seeing the over the topness that a few you saw and as far as I'm concerned it didn't take away from me seeing him as a threat. But to each his own.

Oh, I thought that he wanted to make the new land without anyone on it and then pretty much make it into a new country where he would sell the land. Because in the movie he said something like "everyone is dying for some beach front property," I didn't know if he was kidding or if he was serious. What technology could he gain from the crystals?

Let me put it this way, by having a huge land mass for sale, on which people can survive, they'd pay through the nose to live there after Lex made the rest of the world inhabitable.

The crystals were holographic in nature and contained all of the knowledge of Krypton.

Spacey's Lex Luthor was so unbelievably amazing. He was like some kind of godsend.

As we were leaving the theater, my friend told me that he thinks, "Kevin Spacey deserves a Best Supporting Actor nomination" for his performance.

It was THAT good.

Spacey deserves a Best Supporting Actor nomination for best portrayal of Gene Hackman - NOT Lex Luthor.

But it's not his fault, it's Singer's for dragging a relic from the 1970s campy Luthor (campy sense of humor, wacky over the top personality, horrible fashion sense, ridiculous desire for real estate, company of dumb henchmen and dame who betrays him) into this film. Lex Luthor HAS never been that in over half a century of comics. I'm sorry.

The movie versions of Lex are horribly pathetic. It's like Donald Trump after drinking some Joker Juice.

to be fair, Spacey's Luthor had taste in his clothes. Man, that white coat is damn nice...

I don't think that a white oversized wool coat overtop of a black suit with gaudy tie is not quite "fashionable" nor "executive attire". It's what you call eccentric or kitsch and that's what this Luthor certainly is - and I have no doubt that it was intended. Along with Luthor's bathrobe and the brown corduroy suit this is all intended as a manifestation of the eccentric campy Lex Luthor that we saw in 1978 when Gene Hackman wore especially ostentacious and even frilly suits for the 70s and this continued all the way to Superman IV with the hilarious reflective suit and googles. Again, just more ties to the old Lex.

I'm just used to a comicbook Lex that dresses simply for utility or for success - not for show. Never liked the campy Lex of the original movies and now SR and never will.

I don't like the Hackman Lex but Spacey did what he could of done. Spacey was campy but he wasn't over-the-top like Hackman.

It was more watered down, and for that, I'm thankful. Also, Spacey was the most engeric actor in the movie, along with Huntington as Jimmy, that it was entertaining to watch them both.

But yeah...I prefer the tycoon Lex. he's more of an authority and polictical figure that Superman can't touch.

You can't sell land that's on just a big rock island, people need soil to have farms to provide food, so people can survive on said rock, what were people supposed to do, live off tinkies there? There were a million better uses Lex could have had for advanced alien tech, Lex picked one of the most stupid of uses.

My least favorite part of the movie.....the was Lex Luthor was handled!!!!
