i can't get over how perfect the eyes are. just exactly as i've always wanted it.

Of course they did this on purpose. ASM was the lowest grossing Spider-Man movie ever. So they went back to the well and the more classic successful movies.

They went way too far with that butt-ugly costume in ASM and moviegoers were put off by it. So now they are using the look made famous by the Raimi movies.

If you honestly think that the altered suit had any influence on ASM's worldwide income, you're truly conceited, pal...

At least ONE reason for ASM not making as much money as the old ones (and than I haven't said too much), is because people had already seen spidey movies before. Like, only 5 years earlier. Many couldn't understand why reboot it to begin with (I for one could though). ASM was up against some really tough odds from the get-go. And it was definitely the underdog of the summer, battling against monsters like Avengers and Dark knight Rises. But it was STILL a hit at the box-office. More then enough to warrant the sequel, already being filmed...

If ASM2 does something truly great and expansive, than we're looking at a franchise that in the long run could be much greater, bigger and more badass then Raimi's series ever were. And it may very well go waaay beyond just 3 movies. Raimi's ended at "3", because it was so incredibly bad. Can you handle that truth?

Dang. I really liked the design of the ASM suit.

The only thing I didn't like was the headshape and the eyes.

This suit looks to remedy that. With the new eyes. But it loses some of the spark from the ASM's suit (thin sides, and diagonal boots).

This was a $230 million or more movie. Only made $262 million domestic. Did less than Spider-Man 2 worldwide. And that's with inflation and 3D.

I don't see how a giant Spider-Man movie being released over the summer was an underdog. That's flagrantly false.

Kids and moviegoers were clearly put off by how big of a departure the costume was in the movie. It was way too weird and dramatic of a change. Spider-Man is classic Americana and Marc Webb fiddled far too much with a classic.

I'm handling the truth is just fine. The truth is they went back to the Raimi trilogy for the Raimi-suit for this movie :D .

I don't care what you say. To think that the freaken suit was the reason for it not making that much, is just not true... if so, than find me that significant prove why don't you. The suit had nothing to do with it.

I wish people would do their research and find out the real reason why Raimi's series ended abruptly...who am I kidding, asking people to do research....

Not the only reason, just one reason. It was a butt-ugly, horrible costume.

This isn't Spider-Man Beyond or Spider-Man 2099. It's Spider-Man.

I've heard all the BS about "3" not being the movie Raimi wanted and all that, blah blah blah... And I know it was a smash hit at the box-office. Still, the franchise had grown tired, and it needed fresh energy. And ASM was it.

Might wanna look at the debacle about a fourth movie as THAT'S what killed it. It had nothing to do with the third even if you wanna believe it.

There was also a lot of talk about "3" not being the movie Raimi wanted to make. So, that had something to do with it.

Sure it did. 3 was panned, the cast was already wearing thin and growing tired of the characters and the critical reaction put everyone over the edge.

A film is "panned" and you immediately think that's it?

Take a look at Batman Forever or Ghost Rider if you think that stops a sequel for getting made, lol. Spider-Man 3 may have been the weakest in the three films, but you're only kidding yourselves if you think the third film is what ended Raimi's series.

That had nothing to do with Raimi's series ending. There were a lot of talk, of course, but Sam Raimi still worked on a fourth film that only got delayed and finally Raimi walk out on the project.

Raimi couldn't make the script for 4 on time and he wasn't happy with studio interference on 3 so he walked rather than trying to salvage a good film from an even worse situation than the one that plagued 3. There isn't much more to it than that, except that the lead actor and actress weren't all that enthused about it either. The series ran it's course and died.

Have we talked about how perfect the eyes are yet? Cause if we haven't we should. And if we have we still should cause they're amazing.
GAAAAAH.

I wondered earlier why it took five films to get them right. They're perfect.

I have to see the head to toe look first before I make my judgment.

How do you know the poor critical and fan reception had nothing to do with Sony and Raimi's creative differences and split?

For all you know, Sony would've given Raimi everything he wanted for SM4 if SM3 was a great or even good movie.

It was the lowest grossing because it was a reboot that re-did the origin after a short time.

Are you actually tying to argue that had SM3 done really well that Sony may have given Raimi free reign on SM4? You honestly think that if the film they tinkered with so much did quite well that they would suddenly about face and give Raimi free reign after that?

Maybe they wouldn't have given Raimi 100 percent creative control but much more than would be willing to after a critically panned SM3.

Most complaints about SM3 had nothing to do with Venom which is what Sony tinkered with.

Raimi owns many of the faults from SM3 completely.

Lots of good movies have had studio interference. It's up to the director to make the best out of it.

Best Spider-Man costume yet is slightly better than the Raimi suit
But it's the BEST looking suit

BEST SUIT YET. Raimis was awesome but this...LOVE IT The eyes make it soooo much better. Want to see it in action.

Absolutely LOVE the new costume. Now that we've seen full body shots and all. The eyes are so perfect. Probably my favorite part of the costume.

I can't wait to see Garfield in action in it.
