Yeah, but those big eyes, am I right? :o:up:

Raimi's suit introduced the raised silver webbing. Never suggested in any version of the costume in comics or other media.

The Spider emblem is the same as Raimi's except that the lower legs are longer as with the ASM1 suit.

Raimi's suit introduced the brick pattern in the blue and red areas. Again never seen before.

The design of the boots reflects the Raimi suit.

Essentially the ASM2 suit is Raimi's design on another actor.
You're totally missing the point of his post. Beyond the fabrics, which is essentially what you're talking about, the suit design cues resemble Steve Ditko's original design.

i wonder if they do a poster/ promo pic like AF#15

Whoa! What a great (but also easily-could've-been-though-of) idea! (No offense of course)
I posted somewhere here in the past, that I genuinely wanted to know more ideas that they could use for posters and marketing other than spidey on a building, spidey on a building wall, spidey swinging through the city..(we've gotten that for the past four movies)
And I get why they do that, but I wanna see something else.
But the AF15 idea is real cool. Idk why I never though of that haha

Wait. What do the boots have to do with Raimi? Lol

Seriously though, how many times are people going to
bring up the fact the suit looks similar to Raimi's? We know the movie won't be anything like any of Raimi's (unless Peter goes through the whole "Spider-Man no more thing", which I highly doubt). Sooo yeah. It looks similar to Raimi's. Ok.

Exactly.

Here's a visual comparison for those that are having a problem understanding what Nickoray pointed out.

Raimi's:

Webb's:

Even there the suits only really looks similar due to the color layouts/patterns. You have to REALLY pay attention to point out things like the raised webbing (which is far less apparent in the TASM2's suit due to how much thinner the webs are). And you can't even see the brick patterns.
Plus, Raimi's suit has this really soft, buff look, while the other suit looks more metallics and slender.

There's A LOT more to TASM2's costume design than just Raimi's suit with TASM logo and big eyes. That's been overly general.

The Raimi suit was crap, and yet they've gone back to it for this franchise.

Stick with the classics :D .

Are you saying you honestly can't tell the difference beween this:

And this:

If so, then I don't think you have much of an eye for detail. They are similar in the sense that they are both Spider-man costumes, they are clearly both based on Ditko's original design, but it's ridiculous to say they're the same suit. To me, the Raimi suit looks like an overly expensive and flashy prop that resembles Spider-man, but the ASM2 suit looks like Spidey literally jumped off the comic page.

And before anyone accuses me of flip-flopping or any such nonsense, I never liked the thick, raised silver webbing, or the crappy grey triangle eyes, the overly 'padded' look and fake looking muscle shading. The new suit has none of those things. Yes, the new suit has raised webs and a brick pattern, but if you seriously think they're the same costume you need your eyes checked.

I find it funny how now the Raimi costume is utter crap.

Anyway, i do have my nitpicks on it, but overall, it's better than TASM2's IMO. The eyes on both the (First) Webb and Raimi suits are far better than oversized eyes of TASM2's.

And the belt on the Raimi suit looked SO much better. Yeah, the silver webbing in the above pic is not great. But overall, it the Raimi suits looks much better in the pics.

If this was the suit we initially had in TASM, I would maybe have liked it. But after the TASM suit, it's hard to like this one. Especially as, IMO, it's not even an improvement over the Raimi suit.

But that's me.

Who knows. I may change my mind when I see it in the trailer.
You can't call the Raimi costume crap with that avatar :o

This TASM2 suit is pretty much perfection.

Do the blind post here? The TASM2 suit has silver webbing. It's just the way the light hits the reflective material. There's even a pic like 2 posts up :/

u mad?

The Raimi suit looks like some idiot child went wild with the wrong crayon. If you can't see the difference between those two pics it's your problem.

it's black imo...

you could just as easily respond to what you say that the way the light hits the black on the costume makes it appear silver.

how light can hit silver and make it black seems to make less sense, at least from a folk psychological perspective, than the other way around (light makes things brighter, and silver is brighter than black)

I hate those big goofy looking cartoon eyes.

Makes Spiderman look like a clown.

You seem to have misunderstood me. Fair enough since I didn't really indicate that. I meant I find it funny how alot of people, who once thought the Raimi costume 'Perfect', now find it basically crap.

I liked the Raimi costume. The TASM costume just improved alot of the classic design, IMO.

The TASM2 costume, to me from these set pics, is overall inferior looking to both the Raimi and TASM costume. Those big eyes just don't look right. Webb (TASM) and Raimi got that spot on.

I have to wait and see the costume on film to give it a fair opinion.

I love the Raimi costume and the ASM2 costume both. So there goes that theory.

Pretty sure chaester and a bunch of the people who really liked Raimi's Spider-Man still do. In fact I don't think I've seen anyone that liked Raimi's costume "dump" it in favor for ASM2 costume. From what I've read they like both designs and if they happen to like one more than the other it doesn't mean they "hate" it. I think all of us in that group are just rejoicing that TASM suit has been obliterated.

And where are these people I keep hearing about? I don't understand these comments that are like 'first you liked Raimis suit now you don't, make up your mind', or 'first you people wanted mechanical webs now you complain about it'

Is it really that hard to consider that these opinions are in fact from DIFFERENT people? I always disliked things about Raimi's movies, and now there are things I dislike about Webb's movies. I don't get why some of you feel the need to portray any critics as some irrational, 'hater' who can't be pleased even when given exactly what they asked for.
Some of us were never happy with the Raimi suit, and our opinions never changed. We aren't suddenly jumping on some bandwagon.

Exactly. There aren't just these two groups.

This whole black and white mentality is what really throws this section into turmoil often times.

There are multiple variations of opinions in regards to the Spider-Man films and their respective aesthetics.

Do you mean he looks ridiculous or like a literal clown? Because I'm having trouble seeing how it's clown like.

Spidey's eyes change shape and size a lot in various interpretations of the character. Smaller eyes can look better in some situations, and the first official picture had me worried that the eyes were over sized, but those recent shots of the stunt guy just look more distincty Spider-man-like to me than any other costume I've seen. Hopefully the eyes don't look bigger when Andrew is wearing the suit.

Imo the only thing TASM's costume needed was Bigger eyes,a belt and removing those soles(Maybe a different texture/material)

This costume looks great in the pic where he is standing, but the hanging pics makes him look too bloated, and the folds in the abdominal area are plain terrible

The only thing this costume has over TASM's is the texture/material and the eyes

TASM suit had folds and stuff in it too. Like the front of the mask would crinkle up like in 2-3 shots of the movie, and the suit would have creases all the time. You realize that that suit has to have a harness to support it, which is going to cause it to wrinkle some due to supporting the weight of the person inside of it right? The harness would also make the costume look little chunky in the abdoman area. Seriously though, is the Internet just a place for people to get all the unsatisfied housewife out of their system? Lol

Seriously, why not complain about the huge hole in the shoulder with the support wire coming out of it?
