I would also say the big difference is Sony didn't have a Kevin Feige.

If you read his notes on TASM2 in the email leaks... he could have saved that franchise tbh and prevented this reboot (glad they didn't listen).

When Avi Arad is calling the shots and directing the franchise, he doesn't give 2 ****s about the character or the story. All he cares about is whether the toys will sell.

With Feige as the top dog, we have assurances that he's monitoring story and character development much more closely (and from reading his leaked emails regarding TASM2, I'd say with a pretty good eye for who Spider-Man/Peter Parker is).

That's how screenplays work nowadays. They go through a few drafts and sometimes the shooting script looks nothing like the first draft. It's hollywood

Marvel has Feige and his creative team behind each film. It does not consist of, "lets hire a bunch of writers and let them write." I trust Feige on this one.

I think most of the fears for this movie are creative decisions, such as Ned being Ganke or Zendaya being MJ, as opposed to a bad script similar to TASM2.

I remember from the TASM2 trailers, as cool as the movie looked, there was so much going on. You had Oscorp and the Sinister Six, Harry Osborn/Green Goblin, graduation, Electro, Rhino, Peter and Gwen drama, the parents storyline... it was just cramming so much into the film.

Looking at the trailer for Homecoming, I don't see the same thing happening. There is Peter's high school life, Tony Stark, some scenes with thugs, Vulture, and the Ferry. Marvel hasn't had a messy, crammed film since Iron Man 2, and even that wasn't too bad.

Bummer for me in that regard because him saving that series could've somehow migrated it into the MCU with TASM3 being a fresh start. Yeah, people talk about baggage but they could've made it work. Shame, but only for me. :funny:

Andrew bouncing off of Chris and Robert would've been so great. All I have is this:

Not to mention Black Cat/Felicia tease, the OsCorp conspiracy map on the wall, hidden subway car, Ravencroft appearance, random plane explosion, and a glimpse of Peter quitting as Spider-Man. Sheesh.

 There's certainly been some cuts and stuff I'm sure, but there is a cohesive plan and 1 voice in the lead of it all, neither of which the TASM franchise had between Garfield's voice, Webb's preferences, and the studio rule by committee that didn't give a crap about the mythos.

Y'know, I never though about that being possible, but that could have been cool/good. Too bad I think Garfield was gone either way. :(

:lmao: "The Avi Arad theme song"

Yeah. That whole movie was a big mess, and it showed from the trailers. I remember from the first trailer, it was really hard to make out what the movie was actually about.

So far, everything sounds cohesive. It feels like there is a plan and the people in charge (Feige) know what to do with this film and the franchise in general.

 Sometimes, having a singular voice at the top who has a plan can make all the difference.

In the case of the Lee era of comics, keeping a secret from his aunt was the best thing to do.
Anyway, this is one guy who drove some of his friends to seek vengeance against him after knowing who he is under the mask, keeping that secret from most of them is a saner idea.

This mostly speaks to his terrible quality in friends and family. Writing them in such a manner, in a modern movie, mostly is the key to having the audience find either the friends/family, or Peter himself, deeply unsympathetic.

I like many elements that will be in the film, I liked certain scenes, i.e. the high school and Tony Stark stuff. And Tom Holland is just great. But the trailer as a whole felt pretty plain. Hoping for more next time around.

And that's why I'm sticking around. Without Feige, honestly, this would have the makings of a disaster. Take him out of the equation and keep everything else intact as if this was another reboot by Sony and I'd be thinking "oh boy, here we go again."

Feige has done wonders for Marvel and so because of him I have granted my faith in this project. I really enjoy Holland too.

Maybe my expectations are set high. But shouldn't they be? Marvel finally has Spidey back and they get the chance to creatively drive a solo film. This has got to be good. Like, really good.

My thoughts exactly.

Spidey vs Bvengers hahahahah

Really liked the trailer. I'm anxious to see how big of a role Stark has in this film.

If not for Feige and the MCU, I would not care about Spider-Man movies at all, unless Sony miraculously started making good movies again.

I gave it a meh. After watching it several times over the last few days, I have to say it looks pretty generic to me quite honestly, which is disappointing. Nothing impressive, but at least the humor is on the right track. Not crazy about the Vulture look. It also didn't help that I absolutely loved the GotG 2 trailer, so this paled in comparison by a lot. Hopefully the next one grabs me more.

I think the Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer is better personally.

GOTG is very easy to market I think for a few reasons:

1. Chris Pratt
2. Hooked on a feeling
3. Cuteness overload (rocket raccoon and baby groot)

I think it would be very hard to make a trailer for GOTG that didn't easily impress people.

As for the Spider-Man trailer, I think it was just right. It's not a 11/10 grade trailer, but most first trailers for MCU films are not extraordinary. I don't remember jumping for joy after the first civil war trailer, except for the shot of Cap and Bucky tag teaming Iron Man. The money shot equivalent for the Spider-Man trailer is the ferry shot.

Usually the second or "final" trailer is where they throw a lot more in. Does anyone remember the first GOTG trailer? Some exposition for each character, action shots, and "hooked on a feeling." Nothing special, just enough to get people interested.

The first trailer using Nine Inch Nails in the beginning almost ruined it as it didn't fit.

I dont think the trailer is perfect, but i think its better then good, so i put perfect. I really enjoyed it. I like the new kid playing him. He's got a really nice innocent personality to him that is nice to see. His small role was my wifes favorite part in civil war.

Spider-Man was the highlight of civil war for me, too. The movie was very heavy and the Peter Parker scene really helps lift the movie up.

Overall it definitely wasn't the best trailer ever. Despite being more excited about this film, I have to admit the trailer for Rogue One was much better. The siren fading into the soundtrack, the looming sense of menace...chills. And I'm honestly expecting that film to suck.

Look at the trailer for Spider-Man 3. Incredible trailer, and much better than this one IMO.

But this trailer showed a lot of promise and I'm really excited for what's to come. If I wasn't a Spidey fanatic, I would be less excited for sure though.

Mostly agreed with about everything, especially that last paragraph. Let's hope they reward our faith with the best Spider-film yet!!!

I love this lol. The look of the Thor mask just gets me every time. :thor:

The trailer doesn't have the "money shots" of Spider-Man swinging like the previous movies. Which means very little to me at this point, since those trailers were always amazing and the movies were huge letdowns.

That's a good point. Other than the last shot with Iron Man, do we even see him swinging?

Regardless, I think that's the money shot of this trailer, obviously.
