if anything, supernatural has higher quality than smallville IMO.

And that's exactly why it shouldn't come back. Supernatural is building to a literal apocalyptic end point this season, ending when the show is at it's absolute best. I'm absolutely flabbergasted that CW wants to bring it back for another season, because after beating the Satan himself, there is absolutely no where to go.

How about the thing is probably more evil: George Bush and Dick Cheney. :awesome:

I trust Kripke. If he feels he has more stories to tell, then I say let him.

Let's be real: Vampire diaries probably wasn't her idea. She likes shows like 90210, Melrose Place, Gossip Girls, and Privilaged life, most of whom have been cancelled. She's also the one who wanted to can Smallville and Supernatural and DID can Smackdown on the network(their number one at the time) so again............I doubt this was her idea.

I basically heard a few times that Les Moonves(CBS boss) pushed VD on Dawn and the CW.

Capping off the evening for The CW were two original episodes of veteran Smallville at an average 2.77 million viewers and a 1.2/ 4 in the demo from 8-10 p.m. Take a look at the half-hour breakdown:

Smallville (CW)
8:00 p.m. – Viewers: 2.64 million (#5), A18-49: 1.1/ 4 (#4)
8:30 p.m. – Viewers: 2.56 million (#5), A18-49: 1.1/ 3 (#4t)
9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 2.86 million (#5), A18-49: 1.2/ 4 (#5)
9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 3.02 million (#5), A18-49: 13/ 4 (#5)

While Smallville, of course, is down year-to-year from its former Thursday performance, it is unlikely anything else would perform better for The CW on troubled Friday.

Not as high as I had hoped, but still better than what we would normally get.

I think the CW will be haunted by Smackdown ratings(ie best since Sept 2008) for a long time on Friday nights

yea i was hoping a bit higher. But 2.6mill hr1 and 2.94 hr2 was pretty good figures.

also take into account it was #1 for both hours for the night for the "money demo" (18-49 males). The overalls are nice, but the demos are where they make their cash.

I can't imagine the CW not bringing the show back for one more season. It seems to be a slam-dunk.

You know, with the success of SV (on Friday nights no less), as well as SPN holding its own, and Vampire Diaries being their newest "hit," it seems like SOMEONE at the CW would get a clue about what side their bread is buttered on. Apparently it's NOT the teen girl side.

yea its good they are getting good millions of viewer figures still, and getting the right demos placement too. I agree with spn and sv holding well in 5th and 9th seasons no reason for them not to be picked up. I am sure we will be getting the official early renewal press release any day now from the network.

Considering it went up against the opening ceremonies at the Olympics that number better then I expected

yea totally it was good numbers and since episode 4 echo this season has stayed about the 2.4 million mark and been between 2.7-2.8million on the high end. So i am sure the rest of the season will probably end up staying around this range it will be good. Man i just cant wait to get official call for 10th season, i kinda was hoping it would been this past week. Though i do think they will probably have it be early call like past two yrs were. And last year it was about this time in feb when we got the call, and the yr prior to that was in march.

I am guessing they won't announce it till they are on break for a few weeks between new episodes. Going by the recent schedule that came out, they have 2 more episodes, then take a (month) long break and come back for the final 7. I am guessing the announcement will come some time during march when they showing repeats sort of to keep the name in the spotlight. If I was the CW I would wait till the week before a new episode airs

mike reason i remember was a few weeks back when we were all talking about season ten hopefully being confirmed soon i decided to go over to ksite and go through their news archives to check when about it was for season 9 order and season 8 and season 7 order. And the last two were between feb this time and early march. So i was just hoping we will probably get it around same time. Though i am sure the network/studio has already informed the cast/crew. Since the crew has stated they would need to know the network's decision before writing the last few episodes so they can plan things out and get things set up with schedules and all that/budget. But hopefully we will get the word soon.

Way I look at it, the longer they go without telling us, the more likely it is renewed. If this was the last season of Smallville, the CW would want to take advantage of that and promote that these are the final X number of episodes of SV which would spike the ratings a bit.

yea and we know they need the show on friday's if they didnt have the show there its likely fridays would been a total bust for them and they would have had to drop it like sunday's and if that happen you could kiss CW goodbye. No way network would live with only a 4 day schedule.

were there two new episodes friday? I only watched the Captain Marvel rip-off episode.
Actually my dvr only recorded one, although it's programmed to record all new episodes.

No, They replayed Hex, the other Zatanna episode from last season.

Also, this episode was originally written for Cpt. Marvel to appear, but WB Features shat on the idea. So you can point your "ripoff" ire at them.

lol so ur sayin WB not the CW and or DC are the issue here?

OK! a repeat that's good, and the ratings went up that hour, right?
Hmmmm, I long believed 9pm was the best time slot for Smallville.
Awh! the good old season 1 & 2 days
