Yikes...

I've read that this is the lowest yet for the series. Not good. Anyone think that this might possibly have an effect renewal, even though they've already been renewed?

Ouch, the ratings took quite a hit this week didn't they.. If the rest of the season kinda continues to drop, I'd imagine that it won't effect there being a tenth season, however it could effect the number of episodes in said season.

That being said, wasn't the show not shown in several places being substituted for some American sport?

The ratings took a big hit for everything that was in the same timeslot as Smallville..

Nah this is no different with any other show in America. Usually the ratings will dip this time of the year. Smallville will get their tenth season, and it will have their 22 episodes. I am sure when the DVR numbers come out, Smallville will look fine.

I'm sure the CW will spin the ratings and say something like "we were expecting 1.5 million so Smallville exceeded our expectations"!

No the problem was here in NYC area, it wasn't shown. They played the Mets game but it came on the next night. So that ratings thing isn't correct. It wasn't shown all over the USA.

Thing is whoever was watching the CW(not matter what was showing) from 8-9PM Friday will be counted in that 1.86. I expect when the final rating comes out tommorow it will take a hit when they factor out the non Smallville shows that were on that hour like Met's baseball.

Thing is, even baseball fans have a hard time sitting through a entire baseball game. The game isn't the same as it use to be.

yea technically this was the lowest in the show's history. But we got to remember the show has been on different days/times and had different types of competition. Plus last week and the next few weeks we have preempts that does effect the ratings. I am sure the dvr/tivo ratings will bump up a bit. As for its effects on the show and tenth season i doubt its going to effect much. Alot of the cw shows have been down overall last few weeks. Also too since the cw is a much smaller network they are happy with any of their shows getting between 2.0-5.0million viewers. So as long as any of the shows stay within or at that range things are good.

Wow. After once again not coming on in NYC area. It's coming on tonight. So maybe the ratings won't be bad.............even though this Zod angle is sucking more than a hooker in Vegas.

yea once the ratings get factored out for nyc preempt it should drop to what around 2.1mill right. So hopefully with getting 2.3 with preempt last night, hostage and salvation which dont have any preempts will actually be able to break 2.4mill+ like episodes 4-15 did.

no update?

Smallville
- 1.892 million viewers
- 1.2/2 HH
- 0.8/3 A18-49
- 0.8/4 A18-34
- 0.6/2 W18-34

The number should point out that nobody in NY watched the show since it was moved to Saturday due to a mets game

I know I stopped watching about a good 3 episodes ago, so did a friend of mine. All the breaks, and pre-empts just got in the way of following and enjoying the season. We're just going to wait for the DVD set to come out to finish the rest of the season

will more than likely just skip season 10 all together if they keep it on Friday nights. That's a big baseball night for Chicago and I see this being an issue with that season as well

yea it does blow when preempts mess up scheduled times for viewers, and then i does affect the ratings overall if its not aired during the same night, if its the next day or two it cuts out the final count of ratings too.

Ratings are in for Hostage:
www.***********/mattmtvguy
#Smallville 'Hostage' delivers 1.92 million viewers/0.8 rating.

I was really hoping that we would have had 2.3-2.5mill viewers. But i was reading on ksite some tx viewers in san antonio i believe stated they had a preempt in there area. Which was an unscheduled preempt for that area. Hopefully the finale will at least get 2.3-2.5mill.

As for season ten yea i would love if it got a better night. But since smallville has scored better then anything cw has put on their since smackdown left. i dont see it moving. Now if it did move i would love if it went to mon or even back to tues nights. But the schedule for next season is probably going to go:
friday- smallville, supernatural
Thursday- vampire diaries, changlings(bexwit)
Wensdays- top model, nikkita
Tuesday- 90210, hellcats(tom welling production/cheerleader show if melrose place is canned)
Mondays- gossip girl, (either one of the other pilots nomads, that medical drama, horse ranch show in contention if one tree hill isnt returning)

what sucks is a few episodes ago, the second preempt of the season, I was all set to catch it at around 10:30 pm. Just finished watching a movie, drank a tall sparks, went to my cousins and smoked a blunt. Came back at around 10:23 (perfect timing, or so I thought) but the baseball game ran late, pushed the news back, pushed smallville back. I ended up falling asleep waiting for it to come on

I recall the first preempt I passed out but woke up right before it started, half asleep trying to focus on what was taking place. So after the second one I just said, SCREW THIS! My body clock is set for 5 am (for school), so it's a struggle to stay up till 11, my body is all set to pass the hell out by that time.

so yea, I just came to the conclusion that if I have to force myself to stay awake just to catch a tv show (when it's already hard enough to follow the story line with not only the preempts, but the breaks in Jan. and Feb. or whatever) I'd just rather wait for the DVD (that'll be out in August/Sept. anyway), and watch it straight through from start to finish. No biggie

yea i feel bad for you guys who get preempts. i luck out my local cw affilate and where i live in western ny we dont have preempts happening and if it does its hasnt really happened much since cw took over and it usually was a different nice like thursday or tues/wensday shows.

But also yea if you miss it with preempt you always have dls in the next few hrs (illegal ones) or legal ones the next day on itunes/amazon.

I assume you can download directly onto your home computer, how much does it cost per episode and where and how do you go about doing that?

because I know for season 10 I'm either doing that or scrounging up some loot for a DVR (or asking for one for xmas). Either way, I gotta think of something for next season, because who am I kidding, I sure as hell don't want to wait for the S10 DVD to watch it.
