Justice League Ray Fisher Is Victor Stone/Cyborg

For a cartoon aimed at kids, and I mean squarely aimed at kids (which could be enjoyed by all ages, true) the version of Victor in the TT toon was fine. For a live action movie based much more on the comics? Yeah you better give him more than just "Booya" as a personality. You kinda do have to get into the pathos of the character. Not getting into that HUGE part of his character (established in the comics for a very long time, far longer than any animated version of the character) cheapens things immensely in my view. It's like expecting Theon Greyjoy to be a barrel of laughs after his time in the Dreadfort.

Haha, Miller and Momoa aren't given a script like everyone else to learn beforehand. Miller is given a big board saying BOOYA!! and Momoa gets 2 big boards saying MY MAN!! and YEAHARGHH!!.

OT from Cy but my buddy Ed and I came up with a list of one word phrases that Aquamomoa should start shouting at random that includes:

Jenga!

Shadrach!

Aquatastic!

Mudpuppies!

Shockaflocka!

SunnyD!

You can tell from the footage we are getting a lot of Cy, but in terms of dialog or plot we still have only the vaguest of clues now.

Damn, that's kickass. Vic's gonna get a lot of new fans from this movie.

Again, it's understandable that Victor would be wounded in more than just a physical sense.

Is this concept art? Looks a little better than the final design imo

Agreed. It still uses micromachinery, but as an accent rather than as the entire design. Gives him a more coherent outline, so his body doesn't blend in with itself.

I do hope his design evolves to look more bio-mechanical. Like a more polished guyver if that makes sense.

I've always been partial to silver, black trim, and an arctic white design with blue lights through out and red eye. Pretty much the DCyou design lol.

I definitely favor blue lights. Red lights on a robot feels kind of cliche, and also stereotypically means "evil".

Cyborg week!

Loving everything I'm seeing of him.

I really like that his left eye appears to have some movement and it's not just a ref light up eye.

Cyborg is an extremely difficult sell to an audience in this day and age, I think. There’s not much about him that’s unique or different from a host of other, better known movie and TV cyborgs.

Hell, I’m a massive DC fan, and I’ve never read a single Cyborg comic.

I respectfully disagree. He's basically an episode of Black Mirror. DC has an opportunity with him to really capitalize on the public's infatuation with tech and our need to be connected at all times, which crafts a sort of cognitive dissonance as we're deeply afraid of being surveilled.

How does a man with the ability to harness a power we both adore and fear navigate this world responsibly? TDK briefly touched on with Bruce violating the privacy of Gotham's citizens, but you can really dig deep into that with Cyborg.

On top of that, you can deal with themes of conventional masculinity and the destruction of the black body, which are massive pain points in the black community. If they can find a filmmaker capable of thoughtfully addressing those issues, they can potentially play a role in reframing how a lot of young black men view themselves and their place in the world. Ryan Coogler or Jordan Peele would be perfect choices for a project like this.

So yeah, I don't know much about his rogues gallery. But I don't think anyone needs to. There's no character in the DCEU stable that's more timely right now.

Ryan Coogler would be awesome for a Cyborg movie (based on Creed alone, haven't seen anything else from him); haven't seen Get Out yet, but it's on my list.

And agree about Vic, he has LOTS of potential for a character/franchise in this day and age, hopefully the points you made are addressed in Cyborg's arc, either now or in the future.
