I can't believe he can't just call Marvel and ask for some comics, or indeed why they didn't just send him loads in the first place. I recall previous superhero actors always saying, "they sent me a bunch of comics," and even Christian Bale and Heath Ledger having been given a number of specific comic stories to read.

He needs to stay away from anything that was written by Bendis. Bendis and Ultimates.

He ones he got are fine, those Heroes Return are from the same time as the Heroes Return Iron Man where Favreau got inspiration from and besides Heroes Return was the last time Cap, Thor and Iron Man were on the team together.

That's awesome. Just the idea of RDJ walking in a comic book shop and buying comics is awesome. It's great to know he's doing his homework.

2. I like how everyone's like he BUYS his own comics? What if he is buying these because he WANTS to? I mean, I'm sure its for inspiration for Avengers and future IM movies, but maybe Marvel has already given him some comics and he just wants to read more for pleasure, more homework or a mixture of both. I'm leaning towards a mixture of both.

I agree.

From the looks of the other pics, he was at the Splice premiere at Grauman's Chinese Theater, so maybe he also wanted to stop by and pic up comics, there's a comic shop on Sunset Blvd just a street over.

I never realized it was such a sin for an actor on his own time to go get comics at a comic shop and not from the Marvel offices.
