Not really surprised about Seau. He always struck me as overly angry and obviously a bit depressed, and that's not a recipe for a long and happy life.

RIP Seau...Sad to see his mom talk about him on tv

I just feel sorry for his three children who lost their father at a young age. Even though he probably suffered from many personal problems, I wonder if he ever stopped and think about how his suicide would leave his children without a father to grow up with. It's a very selfish decision committing suicide like that imo.

Well, we don't know what was going through his head, or how his mind worked after years of brutal hits. I'm just glad it isn't another Chris Benoit situation, and his kids are all right.

A former Charger being struck my lightning? Irony much?

There's now reports of it being a self inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. That's an odd spot to shoot yourself. You'd suffer that way as opposed to blowing your brains out and feel nothing.

From what I've heard, some people are also concerned with the funeral and the viewing. A shot to the head pretty much takes away any potential for an open casket.

With Dave Duerson, he left a suicide note behind indicating he wanted his brain studied because he knew he was suffering from concussion complications from years in the NFL.

As a Charger fan, this truly hurts. Seau was a memorable part of the team (that vicious and smash-mouth defense). I feel terribly sorry for his family too. Such a damn shame. :csad:

Totally agree.

Russell Wilson's girlfriend(?) needs to calm down.

I dunno man, it's hard to say what goes on in somebody's mind that pushes them to do this. From my perspective it would seem easier if you pulled the car in the garage, closed the door, let it run and just fall asleep.

Arghhhh Terrell Suggs out for the season, bollox oh well time for McPhee to step up .

As a Steeler fan I'm happy he won't be playing this year, but as a football fan I'm a bit sad I won't get to see him play. I respect the hell out of him.

They've had 3 doctors on now that claim a partial tear could allow T to be back by Week 10 or 11 given the proper rehab. Coach Harbaugh said we have the depth to replace him, not his level of production but enough that it doesn't become a gaping hole on the outside. Let's see what the fledgling Ravens have to offer.

ESPN's Facebook page asked if Matt Flynn would live up to the hype.

I didn't realize there was any hype about him at all

When there's a 24 hours news / sports cycle, the bar's been lowered to ground level for hype.

I mean, I'm sure there's some interest to see if he's the next Kevin Kolb I guess.
