Could you guys imagine Shazam actually catching on with general audiences and actually surpassing Superman in popularity/at the box office? That would be crazy but cool at the same time!

I'm actually looking forward to Aquaman, Shazam, Suicide Squad 2, Wonder Woman 2 and a solo Batman film. Would also love a Flash/Cyborg buddy film and a MOS2! I'd hold off on all those spinoffs though (Harley/Joker, Batgirl, GCS, Nightwing, Joker, Black Adam) and introducing new franchises (GLC, JLD, Lobo, Booster Gold/Blue Beetle). Those can wait!

I'm actually starting to think that WB is going to move forward with all of their Batman properties i.e Batman, Nightwing, Batgirl, etc., creating the BCU, and shelve the rest of the DCEU outside of Wonder Woman.

Wouldn't be surprised if Shazam did overtake this Superman in popularity as Shazam plays up to the kind of thing the casual audience wants these days.

Everything you're saying is correct...I just really can't stand copycat characters. The rest of the world doesn't seem to have that issue (which infuriates me because it shows that DC doesnt have to put effort into characters when they can just slap a beloved logo on a female, kid or minority and call it a new character).

I also think that, done right, Vixen could avoid the problems that you speak of...or maybe even lean into those issues somehow by addressing issues in the film...but I'll take what you're saying.

But there's any number of female characters that I'd like to see pushed into the public eye more.

Also, (not female) but I remember being surprised that Static Shock was not part of the first ave of announcements. Maybe its a rights issue or something.

If we're looking at a black lead, I hope they go with Jon Stewart. I've always liked him as a member of the JL. Cyborg could also have a fun movie with Flash. I think the 2 of them play well off each other. Alternatively, Martian Manhunter can take on the form of a black man. They did it successfully on the Supergirl show

Out of interest, I read some comments from the GA who were unaware of the drama behind the scenes - There were comments about the critics from BvS, plot holes, CGI issues (a few of them wondered why Zack Snyder had done so badly, not knowing that he'd been replaced), too short/rushed and loads of comparisons to Marvel movies. They did, however, praise the cast and the characters, saying they'd like to see more solo movies.

Now that the Snyder-era is done, I think the GA might have more faith in WB/DC going forward.

People scream about disaster etc. here and how tough Aquaman has it now, following JL and comparing it to WW after BvS. But they completely disregard that there was more Aquaman here than WW in Bvs and he made an impression on people, lots of them liked him. Also JL may be flopping hard but it is better received by people especially general audience. Two people I know who absolutely loathed BvS and Squad really enjoyed the film, most of the people here also seem to rate it 6/10. It's mediocre, it's not trash that makes you say 'oh hell no I ain't paying for anything connected to this again'

So our friend @wbconnections got exposed by the director of Shazam on r/movies

https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/com...ll_is_contracted_to_play_superman_in/dq4klak/

:funny:

That director also made new Annabelle movie, right? He is a cool dude I remember him just randomly popping on reddit movies and chatting to people about the film

Give us(AND HIM) MOS 2 goddamnit:csad:

how about a Latino Stuart and Asian Manhunter

so if we get a reboot, does that mean Anderson Cooper gets recasted?

DC has a really strong roster of female characters imo. Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Batgirl, Poison Ivy, Hawkgirl, Black Canary, Zatanna, Vixen, Mera, Jessica Cruz, Starfire, Raven, Bumblebee, Katana, Mary Marvel, Stargirl, Fire, Ice, Dr Light, Huntress, Renee Montoya, the female furies, the women of LoSH...etc. DC is fine on that front. Hopefully I don't have to wait too long to see these women brought to life!

As for Static, DC doesn't really use him in the comics a lot, though he is getting a new comic set on a different Earth (Earth M) soon.

No need to racebend John Stewart when Kyle Rayner and Jessica Cruz exist. Both are Latinos :cwink:

DC really does have it nice, at least compared to the competition when it comes to female heroes. The bolded could for sure hold their own solos and many of the others you mentioned could be co-leads with someone else.

WB could look at the small picture with regards to the DCEU;
JL did less than 100m opening

or they could look at the big picture;
MoS, BvS, SS, WW and JL have (so far) netted the company over 3 billion dollars.

Harry Potter aside, what other property do WB that APPROACHES that kind of return? The DCEU won't die it simply needs to be retooled and repacked.

When you look at Marvel's track record v DC's track record.

Marvel - 13 movies (13!!) and not one Rotten Tomato among them.

DC - 5 movies, four (4!!) of the movies are rated rotten.

Simply put, Wonder Woman aside, the general audience simply doesn't trust the DC brand anymore.

Long-term Marvel will be able to take more chances which in turn will open more doors and extend the life of the studio. DC, on the other hand, have to jettison any risky projects and go with a safety-first approach.
There is way more chance of seeing an obscure character from Marvel on the big screen than an obscure DC character.

General audience is RT?

Someone should create a petition to let WB know we want Henry on board still as Superman, whether as a guest in another solo, or his own, just some shape or form.

you totally took the words out of my mouth Legend!

Get 20K, 30K signatures, at least show the support and encourage Henry
