Rebels Rebels Season 2: An Open Discussion

Did those Jedi guards seems a little [BLACKOUT]Grand Inquisitor-like[/BLACKOUT] to you guys?

[BLACKOUT]I recall Filoni pointing out once that Kanan's decision to let the Grand Inquisitor die would come back to haunt him.[/BLACKOUT]

It is such a great scene. Honestly one of my favorite duels. Dangerous, creative and fun.

I agree, there have been some great lightsaber duels over the years but Kanan VS The Inquisitor is definitely one of the more memorable ones. I loved the added emotion of Kanan thinking Ezra was done for.

By the looks of things, the Sith have taken up interior design. "This place would be well liked by the Sith, I’ll say that much," Filoni says. This temple was originally suggested in an unfinished episode of The Clone Wars, which was posted to StarWars.com in incomplete form after cancelation. "Long ago, in forgotten times, when the Sith and Jedi fought for control of the galaxy, weapons there were of unimaginable power," Yoda says. "Always at their heart a kyber crystal was." (That's the main component of any lightsaber.) When it's suggested those were just children's stories (not unlike Star Wars itself), Yoda replies: "In legends, we often find great truths." Similar words are spoken by Anakin's former apprentice Ahsoka Tano (voiced by Ashley Eckstein) at the beginning of this trailer.

Filoni will say that these masked figures are Jedi Temple Guards, who turned up in The Clone Wars series. In Season 2 of Rebels, they battle not just our Rebel friends, but also the Dark Side Inquisitors, so their precise loyalty is in question. "I will say that it plays very strongly into Kanan’s character and who he is, and becomes an important moment for him," Filoni says of the older, fugitive Jedi (voiced by Freddie Prinze Jr.).

Continuing season 2 tomorrow. Watched episode 1 yesterday so 9 to go. Either hoping to do all 9 tomorrow of half tomorrow half Tuesday and then Wednesday ready to DVR the mid-season return :word:

4 more episodes to go and I will be fully caught up and ready for Wednesday!

Good, good. I caught the season 2 marathon today.

Exceelent!
:ilv: Love that her character design is that of Ralph Mcquarrie's original concept art for Leia

Also the actress sounds like a young Carrie Fisher so that's a bonus. Even in that clip you can see that she has very similar traits to her mother Padme.

Can't wait to see the episode.

Oh damn that was nice trailer very promising and i love the easter egg of Kylo-Ren's crossguard lightsaber, of course The Pièce de résistance was the tease of the eventual confrontational duel between Vader and Ahsoka Tano which no doubt will occur in the season 2 finale .

BRING IT ON! :jedi:dotf:
I hope Vader kills her! Not because I hate her or anything but because it would REALLY sell Vader's might.

Also, Maul Vs Vader for Season 3 pleeeeease!!!!

Vader's might was sold long ago.

I dont think this duel is going to be about Vader. Its going to be about Ahsoka and the psychological impact this will all have on her. Thats one reason I think she needs to survive their first encounter. Vader should hurt her and damn near almost kill her ruthlessly. She gets away and that can really eat at her and that would require her to build herself back up. And the next time she faces Vader it will be her going in ready to give the final measure to stop Vader. She wont have any illusions about Anakin being redeemable.

Trailer shows her attacking viciously. I think she is going to have her revelation beforehand, and then "sacrifice" herself by taking on Vader.

I dont mean attack visiously. I mean she will be at peace and not emotional about Vader after this duel. Besides, shes attacking visciously because he screws with her head with the visions of Anakin blaming her for leaving him. Thats why shes emotionally distraught in the trailer. I think she'll survive this duel and learn and grow from it and next time they meet he wont be able to screw with her head that way because she will have fully accepted that Anakin is gone and Vader is all thats left. And then when her end comes it will result in a much stronger ending for Ahsoka than her being an emotional wreck and Vaders *****.

This duel can be her ESB duel. The one that nearly kills her and she learns a lot from.

Yup, I'm a fan of this only being the first confrontation. Got to have a season long of Ahsoka being tortured by who Vader is. Then gets convinced by Ezra to try to redeem him. Which is when he kills her.

That is not what I think is happening. I don't think Vader is there while she has her visions. It is her coming to terms with Vader being Anakin, on her own. She then runs into Vader.

I don't think they titled the trailer music, "Ahsoka's Fate" for no reason. More importantly, I don't think she is getting away from Vader. Vader let the others escape. Unless he has a reason to allow for Ahsoka to escape, she is not getting away from him. She isn't Luke, or even a main character on Rebels.

You seem hellbent on her surviving.

That was a fun episode. Leia even cracked a bit and showed her age, which was fun. Liked how Ezra failed at impressing her. And thankfully, they showed the AT-ATs were tough to take out.

The troopers did get some great lines this episode.

No im just hellbent on Filoni not being the type to waste Ahsoka for shock value and to make the haters happy.

Fate means the development of events beyond a person's control, regarded as determined by a supernatural power. It doesnt mean death and only death.

Im just not convinced that her fate is dying the first time she crosses paths with Vader. I think Filoni can do much better with the character than that.

I see no way Ahsoka gets out of any confrontation with Darth Vader. When they finally meet, that's all she wrote for her.

Freddie Prinze Jr. was on Chris Jericho's podcast and he said EU characters we thought were gone are going to come back in Rebels. Here's what he said:

"We're bringing a lot more characters back too that hardcore fans will literally love, and many of your EU "Extended Universe" characters that you thought were dead -- They are not dead. They will live once again."

I'm not always up to date with how the fanbase views everything so I'm somewhat out of my depth when it comes to reactions to what Filoni has done, but is Ahsoka a hated character? I assumed the general response to her was positive but perhaps I've missed something?

How is this a waste or in anyway shock value? You are working under the assumption that Ahsoka is going to be in like five minutes the rest of the season. That feels really disingenuous.

She is a beloved character, and Filoni' creation. He certainly doesn't hate her.

Sabine and Mandos next. Looks great so far.
