I would say the main reason, even if how it felt like "leftovers", the theme fit so well with the Americana idea of Captain America that it's because that with why I like it so well. It feels very much like a US theme instead of just the Cap, and that's why I had always felt it should sound like.

He's working on the Avengers? That is news to me...don't know how I feel about that though. I would be fine if they use each hero's main theme in their respected films.

I didn't have a problem with the march. It fit the character like a glove. The acton cues are what sounded like GIJOE and A team leftovers to me.

Yep Silvestri's scoring The Avengers. It was confirmed last month.

Whilst Elfmans Batman theme and Simpsons theme are incredible, most of his other stuff I find very meh. And for me, there is nothing special about the spidey theme. At times, I almost felt like I was listening to a poor mans batman theme. If Horner has the job, I wold love to hear something 'amazing'. I want spidey to have a theme that will down as a true GREAT like what Williams did for superman and Elfmans did for batman.

No composer is still confirmed, huh??? I mean, they gotta announce that one soon!? The movie is released in under 6 months...

I soooo hope the rumors about James Horner is true! He'd no doubt make an incredible soundtrack, not to mention an actual memorable main spidey theme!

Isn't there a piece of music from TASM out there written by Horner?

James Horner has YET to be confirmed for TAS... but I'm hopeful.

What's that music from the official site? I love the guitars. That alone owns what Elfman did.

I would love it to be Horner. I still hear his star trek 2 theme in my head. If he gets it, I have faith he'll give something special... fingers crossed :-D

ST:2 is one of my favorite scores of all time.

Btw, What is your favorite villain theme from the Raimi trilogy?

here's all of them in case you don't remember them:

Green Goblin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u783jgc0c4U

Doc Ock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lFsDsXGu5Q

Sandman: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHcxSrJK8F8&feature=related

symbioite (couldn't find venom theme): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYjn-u8iFJ0&feature=related

The Green Goblin theme for sure. It was always the most menacing to me. Sandman's is a close second though.

Sandman, however, is my favorite villain from the Raimi series.

What if they have some kind of indie pop soundtrack kinda like in 500 Days of Summer .... or a soundtrack similar to Watchmen or Kick-Ass.

dont internet rape me for my comment ........ eep ..

Not a stupid idea at all, alot of films seem to be doing that, but i cant see them doing it with Spider-Man.

Don't hold your breath on that. Horner LOVES to recycle his themes over and over. His scores seem to bleed together. So I wouldn't be surprised if TASM's score was amalgam of everything Horner has done before if he's truly the guy scoring this movie.

Every composer does this. Even the great John Williams. It's called having a style and using certain progressions over and over. JW loves using melodies with Perfect 5ths and you can hear that in all of his works. But what's cool is you can immediately recognize the composer because of this.

No other composer regurgitates his own themes as much as Horner and he's been doing it for years. Every time I watch a movie with a James Horner score it's distracting as hell because I'm reminded of other movies with almost the EXACT same themes.

I realize other composers do this but they don't take it to the extreme that Horner does. When watching Captain America I instantly knew at one point that Alan Silvestri was doing the music because for about 20 seconds he had his Predator chase cue (a bit sped up) during one of the scenes but that was really the only recognizable piece of music in that movie. I don't mind if it's fleeting.

Horner will beat you over the head with his themes that you've heard before. 48 hours bleeds into Commando. Aliens bleeds into Patriot Games. Sneakers into A Beautiful Mind. Deep Impact, Perfect Storm and Troy are all practically the same score. All three of those scores are present throughout Avatar. I'd be hard pressed to name any other composer that does this as much as Horner.

EDIT:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glsyYJksGtg

The trumpet is the exact same, the drums from Avatar are also the drums from a couple themes in Troy, as are the vocals.

That youtube clip illustrates exactly the kind of stuff I'm talking about. Enemy at the Gates and Willow too?!? I've never seen those movies but that's ridiculous they all use practically the same theme as the other movies I named. If Horner's work doesn't define "hack" I don't know what does.

Besides sequels, how the **** is Hans Zimmer a hack?! Compare Batman Begins, the Lion King, Kung Fu Panda, Gladiator, Inception and Pirates of the Caribbean - they're all COMPLETELY different! And on top of that he works with other composers like Jesper Kidd (Assassin's Creed - where even 2 was so different from 1, as was Revelations from the others).

The man has done over a hundred albums.

First of all i love all the soundtracks you mentioned, but Hans Zimmer just chose the main voice for AC:R and the theme was composed by Lorne Balfe and the Soundtrack by Jesper Kyd
and i discovered Lorne Balfle Helped with Batman Begins,TDK,The Davici Code,Rango, inception and Kung fu Panda 2
soo.. if Hans Zimmer is not avaliable hire Lorne Balfe :D!

:yay:

If I'm not mistaken, Hans Zimmer is Lorne Balfe's mentor - which is why he helped with AC. I'm pretty sure he did consultations (like he did with Steve Jablonsky with Transformers) to help "godfather" the composers.
