The Amazing Spider-Man Reboot composer?

Agreed. It sounds nothing like Elfman's score, which is a good thing. This was only a preview right? So the really awesome, most memorable part of the theme isn't in there?

I would imagine the meatiest part of the score would be part of the montage, but who knows for sure?

Bet that comedic song with the short horn bursts is in the bathroom scene, where Peter's breaking ****

When i heard the fingersnaps, it sounded like a dance number straight out of a musical. Not sure what to make of that.

Not a fan of the music, tbh. It sounds good in the trailers, but that sample is... bad.

I gotta say, I really like it. It was nothing like I expected, which I kinda really like.

It's obviously several pieces of music stitched together.....

So, does anyone else think that the bit at 2:44 could be the music for Uncle Ben's death?

Glad to read comments up here (on the suite of Horner's TAS-M music) that they were taken by surprise by Horner's approach with the music. It seems that Horner isn't phoning this one in and was actually inspired by the film. Though I haven't heard the music yet (and don't plan it till after seeing the film itself) I hope it adds a lot to the film. I'm starting not to worry as much about the music now.

Horner is a wonderful composer, and I love this score so far.

Oh I know Horner is a wonderful composer at times. It's just distracting and bothersome when he repeats the same theme(s) in a dozen or so films. I know composers tend to do that but it's a bad habit with Horner and takes me out of the film or score. Like Patriot Games, for example, did when I heard a piece that sounded similar to a cue or theme from Aliens in a crucial scene. I was paying more attention to the score in that scene than the scene itself b/c of how distractingly similar it sounded to Aliens. But I'm not trying to bash him. And I'm not a hater. I like some of the man's scores. Glad you like the score.

Just heard this. It's HIGHLY WEIRD. I thought Horner would make something more badass, and somehow this is just... weird. I'll judge it in the context of the film I guess.

People can say what they will about James Horner, but it cannot be denied that regardless if people are fans or have their hang-ups with his music, his approaches are almost always a perfect match for a film. It's part of what makes him such a success. If the music sounds lighter in tone, then the film dictated that the music follow suit. Once its heard in context - in the film - it'll be much easier to get a real sense of it.

This is a great point
His Karate Kid score didn't conjure what I thought of in a Karate Kid movie, but it really worked out well in context. It's the same here. We really have to wait for the movie to form a complete opinion.

It's kind of funny reading people say "they'll wait for the context of the movie before they judge". I mean, isn't that sort of the main purpose of a score? To accompany the images of a film? It'd be a bit ridiculous to just straight out say that this score sucks and therefore the movie will suck anyways...Or I could be wrong and some people really do just liking listening to movie scores by itself and therefore, hey I kind of see where you're getting at.

I'm doing that right now...this score is NOT something I could see myself listening to as normal music. Maybe the full songs will sound better but at the moment, I'm VERY disappointed.

Well I do like to listen to movie scores by themselves. I'd say scores are what I listen to more than any other type of music. Sometimes, like in the case with Inception's score for example, I didn't even need to see it in context to know that I loved it. It was love at first listen. On the other hand, there are some scores I have a harder time appreciating until I see them at work in the film.

That said, I kinda like what I'm hearing of Horner's score. It's...different. I'm just having a hard time matching it to the images we've seen of this movie so far, so I'll be very interested to see how it works in context.

I like the fact that it's unexpected of what it seems everyone thought it would be, which at I least I thought would be a bit moodier and dark. To me it reinforces what Webb has said about the film, that it's not meant to be dark, but a real, grounded, serious yet fun and whimsical. Feels as if some people were really getting carried away up in believing this film was trying to imitate Batman Begins in being dark and gritty but this score gives the impression of seriousness, fantasy yet a very adolescent lightness.

Agreed. It is NOT a rip off of the Nolan trilogy.

I love the score. just my opinion.

I really like the cue towards the end. I imagine it could go over a montage or end credits. It actually sounds like one of those Disney soundtracks you hear with Bambi, but I could imagine myself tearing up with Mr. Garfield presence.

Really loving the score even if it is a bit different.
