'Red' Filmmaker To Direct Ryan Reynolds In 'R.I.P.D.' Adaptation.

Every film he's in coming up now, are indie films... Hope they perform better then his last ones.

What was that?

I should've never went into the Amanda Bynes thread since I've wasted time reading nice, interesting, funny, and sad rumors about celebrities. But...

Blind Items Revealed

March 1, 2013

This almost A list mostly movie actress has been talking smack about her ex-husband. Lots of smack. Her ex-husband is an A list mostly movie actor who just got married again. Our actress has been really experimenting with her sexuality lately with some of her more recent lovers. Anyway, she says that her ex-husband was the most boring lover she has ever had. Ever. Once she got over his good looks, she got tired of the five minutes spent in missionary and her complete lack of any kind of satisfaction for her.

Scarlett Johansson/Ryan Reynolds

If that's at all true, then, ouch.

Some women fans of Reynolds would be so disappointed.

Well, you know what they say about extremely attractive dudes' bedroom skills. Us average looking brothers are where it's at. :o

maybe it was his fault maybe it was her. we will never know. this kind of stories mean nothing.

Well, it's not like they were going to have sex with him. Unless he's the type of guy to do that. Maybe this'll add to the disappointment...

I hate to believe gossip but I'll just say this, Leighton Meester is a far, far better actress than Lively and frankly she's prettier too.

I'm guessing Lively has a better agent than Meester and Hollywood does have a thing for tall blonds. I'm still hoping for Meester to break out in films. It might not ever happen but I can still wish her luck.

I don't hate Lively at all but the buzz on her is ridiculous and completely unearned. Her name is routinely brought up for dramas and everything and I am just confused because she is only sometimes okay and her on screen presence is meh at best. She could never truly lead a film.

Makes you wonder how things would be for him if GL wasn't a bomb.
The universe decided that there was only room for one former raunchy comedy star to become A-list and unfortunately for Reynolds the universe chose Bradley Cooper.

But, they can be quite entertaining.

I don't really have much of an opinion on either of them. Never watched their show since it didn't interest me. I did see GL, The Town, and The Roommate. I don't remember Meester on Veronica Mars. Can't think of anything else I may have seen them in.

Regarding Lively, I thought she did excellently in The Town. However I could take or leave her in Green Lantern and Savages.

As for Reynolds I wonder how long Hollywood is going to keep rolling out the red carpet for him. I like the guy. His build, looks, charm, comic timing, it should all be working for him. Yet it's not, IMO. But maybe it's just the projects he picks.

I can see why he went with Green Lantern. But I don't get why he went with RIPD. Perhaps he saw it as a vehicle to do a comic book film (which are hot) that utilizes both his comic and potential action skills? And if RIPD had hit it would be the franchise he needs. That being said, who thought that RIPD would be a hit? Especially enough to pour so much money into it.

A more modestly budgeted film would've been able to at least weather this horrific opening weekend better.

Savages was horrendous and most of the cast were bland, aside from Del Toro.

I thought Salma Hayek did tremendously in Savages. She made the movie for me. Travolta and to a lesser extent Del Toro also stood out. It was the three leads that were the weak links. But even with that, I thought they were decent.

Of course Reynolds is going to take the hit for this (maybe not as much as Green Lantern because the studio clearly dumped it), he has been hyped up as the next big thing for years and mostly fails to live up to that hype. There are already articles up about his career and we don't even have an official weekend estimate. Bridges is the one who isn't going to take a hit because he is a great well respected actor that has been in the business for decades.

Well I saw a ridiculous article on yahoo , but this guy has only ever been moderately successful. I never thought Van Wilder was over-hyped. Reynolds is usually the best thing about whichever film he's in. Unless he's opposite the awesomeness of Jeff Bridges.

It seems like every comic property in existence is getting a film treatment. RIPD has sort of a Ghostbuster/MIB vibe. I can see why they thought it could work. Also they had the director of Red.

:lmao: Oh ISS you're bad. :p
No, I'm an innocent little flower. I'd never engage in snark. *whistles innocently while walking away*

I thought Lively was fine in The Town eventhough she was too young for the role but she wasn't great or anything and she was awful in Savages. I'm nicer about her acting skills than most but the girl isn't very good and I can't lie about that.

Eh, Red was a hit but people weren't talking about how amazing that director was. I get that in this climate that an actor needs a franchise but Reynolds is trying too hard. He's making dumb choices. If he wants to do sci fi or action movies he should do mid budget ones.

You know why JGL had a hit with Looper? (well Bruce Willis didn't hurt) He had a hit because Looper cost 30mil to make so it didn't need to gross 500mil worldwide to be successful. It was a hit grossing a mere 176mil worldwide. More importantly JGL isn't chasing after blockbusters, he is literally playing in whatever interests him and co-starring in big films. He's not trying to be some big deal leading man and that's why his career will last longer than Reynolds. Same thing with Gosling, he isn't a box office draw but nobody cares because he isn't desperately trying to be franchise guy.

So I take it RIPD kind of sucked? To me it just looked like a MIB rip off from the trailers I've seen.

I haven't seen it yet, but from what I've heard from other people it's not as bad as critics make it out to be, but it's not great either.

I'm going to catch a matinee Tuesday. I'd like to see where all the money went.

I saw this earlier today and thought it was enjoyable. It's not a great film , but far from terrible. Jeff Bridges seems to be having a lot of fun and seeing him play a "cowboy" made me wish he was doing another western. The cast all do a good job. The only thing really lacking was the dialogue and the cgi monsters look cartoonish. 6.5/10
