Resident Evil CGI movie in the works

I got to see the movie in the NY Horror Festival and and it was magnificent!!! To anyone else that has seen it, how did you like it? The animation was a bit weird and stiff at times but it was 1,000,000 times better than Alice In Zombieland.

I liked it a lot. It's basically Resident Evil's own Advent Children.

Exteriors and set pieces looked fantastic. I was OK with the characters as they were at least consistent with their designs in the games. I think they could've MAYBE done a little bit more with Leon than just recycle his RE4 togs.

I really like the character Leon has become. Yeah he still has that comb over haircut, but he's a true badass now. I like it when Leon just stands in the room and kind of observes taking everything in and doesn't really fly off the handle.

Wonder how Ada would feel about Leon messing around with this new girl, Angela Miller.

Leon is my fav. I always wanted a live action version of him on screen...but I don't think a actor can pull off that look in real life and still look badass

I watched the first several minutes in Home. The story seemed kind of corny, and the animation wasn't anything to write home about, but it at least looks and sounds the way the games do, which is far more than I can say about Paul POS Anderson's movies. I'll probably buy this on Blu-Ray when it comes out. I imagine it will look a lot nicer in HD than streaming over a virtual movie screen in PlayStation Home.

I have the movie, definitely alot better than the live action ones. Good to see Leon in action. Zombies + airport= sick.

Need to check this out. I wonder if the Red Box will carry it?

I definitely plan on getting the DVD at least.

The story to me is no worse than the horrible movies. And Degeneration ties directly into the games. It sets up RE5 basically and shows the aftermath of RE2-4.

My only gripes is that it doesn't really address Wesker or Ada. If it was longer that might've been in there.

AGREED. I was able in quite a few parts to forget it was CGI. SOME parts, lol.

I just watched it and just finished cycling through the extras. (i don't know if the japanese extras will be on the Stateside disc)

I love it. Great comparison to AC, because thats pretty much what it felt like. was it just me or does Angela Miller look like Angelina Jolie?

Awesome. It's made in DVD-form right? Not just like a game disc movie?

Ha, The whole time I was just WAITING for Wesker to show up. I'm really surprised he didn't cameo :( I hope they make another one after RE5.

Thank god. Wesker is almost annoying to me. I don't think he has to be in every single game/story.

I'm fine with no Ada as well. Though, I'd like to know more about her character, I'd wanna see it more in a game.

Loved the movie.

IMO it was better than the live action flicks.

LMAO at the Alice in Zombieland comment.:hehe:

Finally, we get a good RE movie that isn't the same Anderson BS we got (amazing that they managed to make a trilogy out of that crap). Definitely will pick this up or rent it. Leon is a badass for sure.

Haha, I'm watching some on you know who tube right now, that part in the airport with the reporter....that got me.

I bet if they made RED into a live action movie, it still wouldn't be too great, IMO. Some things work within their own realms and some things don't.

Sure, RED is based directly off the RE series, but if it were made into a live action movie on its own, that would be its only merit because it'll be nothing more than another zombie/monster movie like we've seen already. I think a truly good RE movie needs more than just mindless monster/zombie action and source material relevance.

Agreed. Wesker can't be behind literally every little thing in the Resident Evil-verse.

Anyhow, here are my thoughts:

I'm with you Joker, I enjoyed it a lot. Is it high art? No. Is some of the dialogue cheesey and plot contrived? Of course. But come on, its Resident Evil, not Citizen Kane. It is a fun albeit, silly way to kill an hour and a half and a good bridge between 4 and 5. Plus, I must admit, parasites of Resident Evil 4 and 5 are fun and all but I loved seeing the return of the zombies. When that first one starts lurking towards the police officer, and then as it starts to rise after being shot, I couldn't help but get a nostalgic grin on my face.

That said, it is not perfect. I could've done with a little more Leon/Claire interaction. Resident Evil 3's secret epilogues implied some sort of falling out between Leon and Claire. I wish that were at least touched upon. Also, I could've done with more than just the zombies and the G-monster. A licker or hunter would've been awesome. But I suppose they don't really fit into the plot.

Also, I can't help but wish one of the random medics were Rebecca, just a cameo to finally let us know where the **** she has been all this time.

SO is this RE movie worth a purchase at all? Its out tomorrow here and I loved RE 1 and 2 back in the day.
